    I have a long story. I sent my camper for warranty work and took it back 5 different times. I eventually contacted Forest River and had to shipped it back to Indiana, their Manuacturing plant. Camper World did more damage than repair on my camper. I would not send my worse enemy to camping world!

    Most of the problems associated with Camping World involve their corrupt business practices when selling RVs. They also have high employee turnover in their service departments because of low pay and questionable business practices.

    Your driver side leaf springs have lost their lift. They will go next, replace them yourself its very easy. Go to a trailer place and they can get them for you. The spot that wore on the frame looks like it has a crack in the middle, may just be the video but check it. If it does it needs to be welded. Great videos!

    Here is the thing coming from an employee it differs from location to location. We have people make a 3 hour drive just to be taken care of by our location, hope that wraps it all up. Which it should but anyhow if you know how to do it by yourself or have access to TH-cam then go ahead. First thing they ( Camping World ) should have checked the propane tanks for safety and told you they need filled. After fixing the L.P. lines under the trailer and since the cut into the trailer frame should have brought to your attention. And a 2" x 8" steel plate welded to the frame area for frame integrity.

    • @NoOrdinaryPath
      @NoOrdinaryPath  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They did say they ran a check on the lines. Seems odd it would be empty - so did they they run it out when they checked it? I hope they didn't just "say" they checked it but did not actually. As far as the frame, I didn't think much of it. Thank you for calling attention to it.

    Camping World in Newport News, VA put awning toppers on my 5 slides. They left a tool on a slide which they closed up and I didn’t find it until we got to the RV park. They also put a big scratch in my table. I found the tool because I noticed there was rip in my slide roof. Took me about 2 hours to get it out so I could operate the slide to leave at the end of the weekend. They had to replace the roof on the slide. That was the second time I had a bad experience with them so NO MORE for me. Found a small local RV repair company and never looked back.

    Our camper was 3 weeks old, developed a leak in a window. Couldn't get appoint to get repaired until 2 months later. Campingworld had camper for one month, charged me $596 for warranty work, a week later after another rain event, the same window leaks in the same place. Apparently the techs do not know how to do proper repairs. The leak wasn't repaired.

    I would get your rig weighed as soon as possible. I would suspect you are lopsided for weight and possibly over the capacity of your springs and axles. We use Northern Tool for getting a lot of parts for trailers and the quality on the springs, perches, etc is very nice. Alot of these campers are made as cheaply as possible and as a result they go super cheap on the stuff like tires, wheels, axles, bearings, springs etc. Once you get it weighed on each axle you will have a better idea whats going on there.

    • @NoOrdinaryPath
      @NoOrdinaryPath  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We are planning on it. We were so focused on getting back to KC for the holidays - we are hoping to drop some weight while we are here and then take it to weigh. We had it weighed when we purchased the new truck in August and it was not over weight for the truck we never adjusted the hitch so I'm sure it's not distributing weight as it should be.

    Fair disclosure, I’ve worked on cars for years and now we are work camping working to retirement/ full time. I’ve had a few discussions with Camping World and have not been impressed. Trying to make an appointment is frustrating so my wife and I rely on YT and the internet and it’s worked out fine. From the highs of working on the roof to replacing the black tank valve we have been able to do it. I think, no I know you can do it.
    I know the warranty paid for most of your repairs however I think you yourself could have fixed that for $500.00 or less. We have your back, we watch and comment on your videos. You can DO this!!!!!!

    • @NoOrdinaryPath
      @NoOrdinaryPath  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      John does like working on his own vehicles and used to to a lot work when we had a driveway but it's harder to do on the road it seems. Honestly, we like being able to just take it somewhere and have it taken care of and the warranty on the RV has served us pretty well. I suspect when it's expired we'll do a lot more of our own repairs. And you are so right, the YT community is a great resource!

    We didn’t have the work done at camping world but did have the same issue. We have a 2017 keystone outback 29ubh and all 4 of our springs went flat one was broken. We upgraded to heavier duty springs, cre 3000 Equalizer, heavy duty shackle straps, and grease able wet bolts. So from what I gather on keystone forums, they use good dexter axles, but the running gear isn’t dexter and is the cheapest gear they can find.

    Here's a fun fact for my camping RVing Friends... for everyone tech you have 1500 rv's /campers ... so if you need a trade or your sons and daughters needed career,think RV tech.. and remember Camping World didn't build that product they just sold it/serviced it..if your product is less than great you should take that up with the manufacturer which not only helps with resolve for you but also stops future issues in production. And don't wait for the walkthrough to know your unit do your homework first don't rely on a salesperson or even your tech giving you the walkthrough ...review and homework before purchase

    When we started looking for a class B a couple years ago we already knew the number 1 consideration was CW would not be in the mix. One important point to remember is CW also operates as other brands so please do your homework. We live close to a CW that bought out a large independent dealer that many liked in our area near Nashville. This was Cullem and Maxey which is next door to CW near Opryland. Their sign now says Gander RV but otherwise they're CW. Unfortunately, CW buys out numerous smaller chains or independents and seems like some they convert to CW branding and others they use something else. If this was discussed in the video and I missed it, I'm sorry. Travel safe

    We will never give camping world (especially the Nashville store) another dime, our experience was horrible! Now we didn't technically have service done but the Nashville service department was involved, we purchased a year old Winibago they were supposed to do a thorough inspection and fill the LP tanks, before we took delivery, someone from the service department did walk us through after the supposed inspection took place, the things they did not fix/check were the waste tanks all 3 were frozen not from Cold (we now have to pay to have the underbelly dropped and the valves replaced) they did not fill the LP tanks they ran out in 3 days just heating water, there are a lot of other things I can fix myself I won't mention, but all they did was basically walk around it say it's ready. they had plenty of time to do the job over 2 weeks before the delivery driver picked it up. I think this was primarily the sales department get your money and get the customer out the door, they also didn't give us the free grill we were supposed to get. Never doing business with camping world aka gander, aka KOA , aka Good Sam etc etc it's a huge monopoly now $ is the bottom line customer service is a after thought.

    You guys should look into a Mopeka tank level system. We just put one on our tank in October before our Halloween trip in the Adirondacks. We were expecting sub freezing temps. Our current camper does not have what you would call a thermal package, however the underbody does have insulation. We had never had it out this late in the year, so we wanted a way to monitor the tanks from inside the rig. Their app is really cool, and it's good to have a mental idea of how long we could run the furnace, hot water, and stove when we had a 9 inch snow dump. If you do decide to get one, try and get the newer version with metal feet, and definitely use the feet!

    Your trailer may still have some lean because the remaining leaf spring on that side was overloaded and may have undergone some plastic deformation. At a minimum, they should have replaced both springs on that side. I would have replaced all the springs with a higher load rating. Yes, that does not increase the axle capacity, but it appears that the springs are currently the weak link.

    People are much more likely to air their negative experiences than their positive ones. That said, I've dealt with Camping World when they were up in Bath, NY on numerous occasions: to purchase (2) travel trailers, a class C and a dolly for a toad. The only problem I ever had was with the dolly. Less than ten miles from their location, the brakes started smoking. A newbie in the shop had wired them incorrectly. They sent a crew out to load the dolly on a flatbed, took it back to the shop and had it fixed the next day. The newbie was fired.

    You most likely checked your axel rating. I have seen you problem with other trailers with under rated axels for a trailer. Check you have grease fittings on leaf springs bolts, second check your tires are tracking straight, if not you may have week axels. Check the trailer weight tag for axel weight and have the trailer weighed is you have a acceptable reserve. Also, check your tires for weight, it all tires are made the same.

    People love to hate on Camping World. I question if many of the haters have ever used them. I have bought a TT from CW in Columbia, Missouri and used them and the CW in Grain Valley, Missouri for repairs. I have had excellent service from both. I think that the quality of each CW location depends on the manager.

    I think your propane leak may have been from the damaged gas line near the tires. If so, how fortunate that you didn’t spark a fire when the leaf spring bumped it. Many explosions have happened that way. Propane doesn’t smell in its original state the odor is added to it i believe. It is heavier than air therefore it sinks and sets and rolls along the ground to low spots. Watch out for those campfires.

    Honestly can’t believe how dangerous it was driving around with the broken spring, which meant that the entire weight of one side of the travel trailer was relying on one axle instead of two but also the same as the axle that had failed. It doesn’t bear imagining what could have happened if the spring on the front axle had failed while you were driving due to the overload on it. Camping World did not do ‘OK’ because they should never have allowed you to drive your rig away from their depot knowing you had a broken leaf spring! You could have caused a major wreck.

      I did get one from Camping world. I have a friend who got one from another place because he said the service was bad at CW but then found out service at all dealers is shitty. I just took in in for its first check up and told them about four things that had broken about two weeks before I took it in. They fixed three free of charge, I had to pay to replace the light cable that had sagged and gotten dragged but I expected that.

    That's puzzling about both propane tanks being empty... but at least an easy fix. Will you have to fix the hole underneath where the spring damaged it? Our old RV trailer had the whole underside closed in to keep everything from freezing, so if it had happened to us, I may have been tempted to use the Red Green solution on the hole (duct tape)! ~ Kir up on the Cumberland Plateau, TN
