other idol groups don’t really do cyphers like this or have these kind of rap skills because (honestly speaking) half of them are only rappers because their companies told them to to fit the group and it’s image and because they’re not really able to be singers 🤷♀️ suga and rm were both underground rappers long before bts and when jhope joined he was taught to rap by other underground rappers too,, so yeah bts definitely has the best rappers in the kpop industry, but of course there’s other actual rappers in the khiphop scene too

@@zarag1621 - yes but none were recruited from the hip hop scene or have MC skills like RM & Suga or J-hope for that matter.
And also, when you consider who their musical influences are, it is easy to see why their rap skills would be so far above the rest. They learned rap by listening to Eminem, Nas, Drake, and other great western hip hop artists along with great Korean hip hop artists. It is a lot different than learning to rap in rap classes during training. Not saying other Idol rappers are not good rappers, but the skill levels are not the same.

@@Indigo_gwen Right. there's a lot of difference in doing rap and actually doing hip hop. Bts are true hip hop. There are a lot of American 'Rappers' who rap as a genre but don't have the mc skills, not even lyrics that will make them hip hop.
I'm no expert at hiphop, but it's nice to see that BTS is doing it right.
For your information, only BTS rap line have their own cyphers. They're the ONLY kpop group who's brave enough to write diss tracks and discuss important topics without fear. RM, Jhope and Suga are truly the best rappers in the industry!

In case no one have told you, the Cyphers basically started when they kept getting hate from other rappers. Coming from an underground scene background (except Jhope), when they chose to become idols, a lot of them were saying they were straying away from hiphop. They said they arent "true rappers".
In particular, a person named B-free humiliated them saying that being idols equates to being "feminine" and that they are not rappers. They had a mentality that you cannot do hiphop and be an idol. Thats why in Cypher part 2, they had a line saying "go back to hawaii" because bfree was from there.
They are the only kpop group to release these cyphers.

RM's cadence is another level - the amount of times he switches flows he makes it sound like 10 different songs on the verse wheww. Welcome to the monsta plaza ;)
This is what happens when they test the patience of BTS.
I also have to say none of the bts cyphers and diss track are started by them. They're all replies only. And they're sublime and that's the beauty of it.
You guys have to check out these cyphers live. Cypher medley live and cypher 4 live. That is a whole other experience
other rappers in K-pop can't do cypher, bcoz 95% rappers do raps in K-pop bcoz they can't sing.. Anyone can rap in studio version in 100 retakes with 1 or 2 bar's , real rappers should know how to write their own bars nd perform that live with the same energy ND flow... Rm was 15 yrs old when he was underground rapper in K-pop no one can compete with his flow nd writings.
Joke by rm is perfect example for his rapping skills,

The Cyphers were only done by the BTS rapline to simply address the haters, all of these live are incredible.
most other kpop rappers are only rappers to fill in the role of the rapper of the group. SUGA and RM were actually underground rappers before joining BTS and they have always been real rappers. their lyrics are unmatched and they’re true MCs.
i wouldn’t go around comparing other idol “rappers” to the BTS rappers because they are not the same.

They’re actually friends with EXO. Jimin is BFF with Kai (EXO) Suga is friends with Suho (EXO leader) and V is friends with Baekhyun (EXO). As a group they are both in good terms. But of course for EXO-Ls and ARMYs, it’s always a competition. 😂😂😂Sometimes a healthy one, sometimes a toxic one😂😂😂 most of the KPop artists are friends with other groups since pre pandemic they see each other on music shows and award shows..some became co stars on a Korean Drama..Jimin and Kai belong to one Circle of friends (I forgot the name) Jungkook belongs to a different circle of friends named 97 liners since all member of that group were born in 1997 (and belongs to other KPop group).
It’s the fans that makes it complicated but interesting at the same time😊

And I will say it again...BTS is the best in live. I've seen them perform it live suring their concert at Seoul many years ago and it was a blast. They be spitting fire

actually this is a diss track for their haters, not a competition between them, in the live performance you can see that they're always hyping each other, I highly recommend watch the cypher medley 2017, it's reaaaally good
There are only a couple of other groups that actually recruited experienced Rappers from the K-hiphop scene. Zico and a few other members from Block B, Mino from Winner, Minhyuk from BTOB, T.o.p. from Bigbang.
And theres eventually new group from bighit.
RM...Suga...JHope ...have enormous talent individually....but when together they bring a combined effect AND swagger that will go down in history as unsurpassed.

Supreme Boi was an original member of BTS but left when BigHit changed BTS from a hip-hop group to a K-Pop idol group. Supreme Boi is still a producer at BigHit/HYBE
RM knocked them out, JHope killed them, suga burned the bodies. As always rm with lyricism, JHope with his energy and suga with his soul. 👏🏼

BTS has diss tracks. Most of the groups don’t really have diss tracks cyphers and this deep rap stuff. The idol industry hardly has any serious rappers, a lot of them become rappers because they’ve got a pretty face but not necessarily a voice to sing.

this is my fave cypher sonically. just more my vibe. cypher pt 2 though in terms of wordplay and strictly cypher-wise is top tier to me. meanwhile, cypher pt 4 just makes me really bounce and a real anthem. 💜

These small groups can't compete with BTS, and you can't compare BTS with anybody, BTS has been working for more than 10 years, they paved the way and made Korea worldwide, BTS is the most talented group in the world not just K-pop, but they struggled to be at this level, not like the groups that came after BTS, everything seems easy for them because BTS made it, even the groups before BTS couldn't do what BTS have done and when they saw how BTS was getting bigger they tried to bring them down, all the industry was a struggle for BTS, but they made it after nights without sleep and hard working for years, and trust me when you get deep into BTS’ ART, you will realize that no other artist can do what they are capable of, they are just too talented and creative and different, their music makes you feel alive, they deserve the world for real

I love the Cyphers so much and they are on constant rotation. My favorite ones are pt. 2 and 4. This one is so good as well and it’s really hard to choose because they’re all different but again I have my favorites.

I consider Mic Drop to be the end of the Rap Cyphers. That is why at the end of Mic Drop they say they won’t address their haters anymore after this song. Basically, saying they are above all that now. And they haven’t addressed haters since.

Supreme Boi is an old friend and writes a lot of their beats almost became an idol but decided to stay as a songwriter/producer. Also JHope is def not calling out English and American rappers here, he's calling out Korean rappers who want to only rap in English. It's an important point. They would never disrespect American rappers.

Ha! I went into BTS through the rapline. They are sooo good. They each have mixtapes. Fire. RM is incredible. "Joke" and "Do You" are gems. Suga is my personal favorite but they have really different styles and J Hope is a whole vibe.
