Steve's Billy Connoly is so dead on, it's almost scary. I heard that in England, broadsheet journalists have described his impressions as "stunningly accurate."
I actually believe this was the recent pinnacle of British comedy. It absolutely kills me every time. It’s like having banter with your very best friend except you’re both actually as funny as you think you are. They aren’t just riffing, they’re on the fly improvising a comedy routine funnier than 99% of people could with years of practice. Two legends in their field, who will be respected the same as greats in the future I think. Having a fun chat in a car.
@@Hudsonfalcon No, he heard right. The majority of it is all scripted, more script than improv. They would improvise then right then it into the script
sam x22 no he heard wrong. What he heard/wrote that it was word for word prepared which is just not true. Yes it was scripted for the most part but there were parts improvised or added while shooting.
@@Hudsonfalcon You should check out the interviews Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon did. They even said it themselves "everybody thinks they understood how we filmed it, but they really didn't"
xD "Sleep well, my brother. Sleep well, my sister. But, please, do not sleep with my sister." "Leave my sister out of it!" "Leave my sister alone." "Don't touch her!" GOD, I LOVE THIS!
In our house nobody can discuss what time to get up without it turning into the entire dialogue from this scene. It's become impossible to just say "I'm setting the alarm for seven".
I think it's years since I've gone to bed on a night when I actually have to get up in the morning without repeatedly saying "gentlemen to bed" to myself for minutes on end beforehand
@@jake_fx the original comment states this clip has given him joy for 12 years, which is a clip from The Trip a show that has no script writing. There are 2 performers in this and both have experience of improvising in shows they have done. You actually think they're referring only to Steve I assume and his body of work? That makes no sense at all.
Do you think Steve reads these comments? Because if he does I would really like him to know how he has helped me through my divorce and losing my family through absolute unbelievable comedy. I like a lot of comedians but Steve coogan is the ultimate comic for me.
In 1974 I was catching the London train from Crewe station. It was very crowded; I found myself in a last-minute rush for the last remaining seat beside a tall, good-looking man with collar-length hair, it was the seventies; Buckaroo! I looked up and saw it was none other than Peter Purves, it was the height of his Blue Peter career. He said, “You Jammy bastard” and quick as a flash, I replied, “Don’t be blue, Peter!”
Two very talented, and very intelligent, people. Superlatives tend to be overused, we are all guilty of this from time to time I suppose, but these two gents are undoubtedly from the very top drawer of entertainment. Cheers, D.
Imagine what these two could do if they actually in a room together for a couple of weeks and wrote a comedy film script if this is what they come up with off the cuff on a random drive somewhere. Brilliant.
That's how it's made tho, allegedly they get together ahead of filming and chat, then they and the producer picks moments of their conversation for them to 're-live' for the camera so the subject matter is set for them to improv around
We have continental breakfast served from 7:00 to 9:30 sharp, and the chef would kindly ask you to order any boiled eggs in advance. And then to battle!
Yeah, the Trip was legit. Watched it through a few times - this was one of my fav scenes. Coogan's campy Scotch "Rise at Daybreak" at the end is fucking glorious. Another favourite scene from the show is "That was CAMP!"
One of the funniest things on the tv last year - amazed so many people seemed to miss it. Side splittingly hilarious, but without actually trying too hard... Morrrrrre!!!
Me and my ex wife started watching this on a long ass flight over 10 years ago. I can't remember which one of us stopped to tell the other to start watching this at the same time so we could share the laughs at the same time. Good times.
Just love this so much. Comedy gold!!! Think all night owls should be told, TO BED for we rise at daybreak- or is that ish.lol. Now let me drink wine and eat some cheese, but do not sleep with my sister! :)
You know there's a series, right? It's basically the movie stretched into 6 episodes but with new content. And they're filming season 2 right now. Think this will finally put them both over the edge in terms of getting the recognition they deserve, because they're both just charismatic and funny as all hell.
"Death is but a moment, but cowardice is a lifetime of affliction" Is it just me, or does Steve Coogan sound like something out of a Warhammer 40k-RTS?
I wish they'd do The Trip II: Wales! or something along these lines. The spouse and I have watched this several hundred times, and we need some new Coogan/Brydon work since we have most of this memorized. Sad. TO BED! WE RISE AT 9:30...ISH!!!
Whenever I'm sad, I watch this clip.
Pmsl! Me too.!!! 🤣
Same
Same here!
Me, too!
“Ladies and Gentlemen TO BED!” For at daybreak we view this clip for humorous LUST!!”
"Sire, 'tis a continental breakfast, 'twill only take twenty minutes." LMAO
You can't fight to the death on a croissant and some juice, pure folly
Twenty minutes, max!
Steve's Billy Connoly is so dead on, it's almost scary. I heard that in England, broadsheet journalists have described his impressions as "stunningly accurate."
But he doesn't do the broken voice, when Billy Connolly gets really emotional.
BozPictures ...when he gets very emotional, indeed...
More accurate but not as entertaining
I get the reference haha
@beardedcollie39 how many Batmans has he been burying?
I love how Coogan gets so carried away with this one haha

That is fucking funny. Jesus H Christ. Thank you for the laugh. Priceless!
The Billy Connolly bit at the end had me peeing myself... so freakin' funny
I knoooow, I can't help it.
AHAHAHA holy shit

Quite possibly the funniest thing ive seen in my life...
Try Little and Large and then come back to me.
Random Account I can’t get enough of it , I love it so 😊
Dont think iv ever laughed as much
I'm so glad it's not just me who thinks about this as often as I do 😁
I always start crying with laughter at "what time's the battle?"
that Billy Connolly part is absolute gold!
Small talk with friends, eating various cuisines, exploring the countryside. That's what life's all about
Just watched Troy 'prepare the army, we attack at day break ' laughed and thought immediately of this! 😆😆
This is such a brilliant scene, slowly descends into silliness and hilarity and they keep building on it
"Nice-"
"TO BED!"
"Oooh!"
First time I saw this sequence I was laughing so much I became legitimately concerned for my health. It verged on the unpleasant.
They bounce off each other so well when Rob doesn’t just segue into his impressions all of the time.

I want another three minutes of the Billy Connolly bit
In tears at Coogan's Connolly, just so spot on.
I want this played at my funeral.

Coogan’s Connolly bit at the end slays me every time.

Only question is at what time they rise?

Yes Coogan's Billy Connolly impression at the end is hilarious but so was Rob Brydon's Connolly laugh that sparked it. Gut busting these two
I could watch this 1000 times and it would still be funny. Gold.
