My nan remembers hearing this on his radio show every week in the 30's I found it for her here and she was thrilled to hear it again, so thanks! she's also got an autographed photo of Henry up in the attic!
I remember this song and I hadn't heard it for a long time. I was dreaming the other night and it came into my head and I was humming the tune, I don't know what brought it on. I knew it was Henry Halls band so I looked it up. It brought back memories of when I listened to his band on the Radio.
That’s so nice :) Could you tell some memories about Henry Hall and his Programme? Id love to hear about him I understand if that’s too personal or something tho dw
I would like to own a Austin Six and play this while travelling on a day out in it. I love and enjoy listening to 1930s music. Thanks to my late gran cooke and to my late mum too. As they played this type of music on the 78s my mum owned. Which we listened to 8 months before my dear mum passed away suddenly nearly 4 years ago. So hearing this type music brings back memories to me. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful genre of music. A big thumbs up from me.
Here's to all the people who.died on 911 and who died from.the 1920s u are always with us and we will.keep.the music and spirit alive forever here's to the next life time.ladies n gentleman ❤
I used to have this on a tape of the bbc dance orchestra stuff. I collect 78s and just saw, and lost my first copy of this, the only one i've seen in about 8 years, ah well
Hi Mr mbananawork, We know a musician who, a couple of years ago, acquired an old authentic British xylophone and excels in playing it. His role model is the legendary Teddy Brown. His name is Josh Duffee - drummer, bandleader, percussion historian with a keen interest in Chauncey Morehouse and Teddy Brown. Josh Duffee resides in QuadCity, Iowa, US., and has a special position with the Bix Society.
@pascal51076: Not the national anthem ('Het Wilhelmus'), but the Scottish song 'Auld Lang Syne', perhaps best-known in Holland as the terrace chant, 'Wij Houden Van Oranje'.
Good for you! I’m 113 and from my experience music was great up until 1984. Although I will admit there are some good songs after that but not to many. It’s to bad music’s lost it’s feel, and anyone who can enjoy music of today I congratulate them for I cannot and I do hope that they will at least respect this music. It’s also good for some of those in the younger generation to like this kind of music because people like me are dying out. I’m one of the few people left that can say I fully remember the whole decade of the 1920’s and even remember the late 1910’s. My oldest memory is when my father went off to fight in the Great War in Mid-1917. I was 11 then, and Dixie (Later called Jazz) was starting to become really popular, especially where I had lived.
Ahh that reply made me tear up a little, I’ve been trying to find more music in this style because I‘m absolutely in love with it, I’m 17 and I think a good portion of my generation still have that appreciation 💕
@@tawnyevergreen4169 Hi I like your comment I’m 58 , I have to say many of those of my age laugh when they hear this music, they don’t seem to appreciate that pop music as we know it today did not exist in the 1930’s .you obviously do good for you. I comment as someone whose parents (now dead) were teenagers at that time. Well done.
hello there Lucy Sergeant, I see its been 8 years since you have posted this, but do you still have those song books? I am a H U G E fan of Henry's and i'd love to get them if you still have them! Here's to the next time!
+Corpus Rand I get what you mean but old music shouldn't be discounted just because its old. Where would we be if Keith Richards hadn't loved Chuck Berry, BB King and Billie Holliday? History is everything. Just because its old, doesn't mean it irrelevant.

THAT'S GOTTA BE WORTH SOMETHING!
Is she still alive? It’s been 11 years.

What lovely memories. I hope the autographed photo of Henry is now retrieved from the attic and framed with pride of place somewhere in the house!

Some belting xylophone work there! Great stuff all round.
Mum and Dad knew this well, and it was one of Mum's favourite tunes.
I love this song! Just another time!
This is the finale to a favourite programme, wonderful.
Janette Walker which one?
Damon Weiser A dj in south of UK ends with it each week.
Thank you. That was a nice nostalgic trip.
I always used to sign off my hospital radio shows with this tune. Such memories! Sounds very like Jack Payne's Band on this tune.
SUPER.....Thanks for posting this delightful share.
Marvellous. Also called the sunshine march.
Brilliant.
Wow Is so awesome music
Brings back fond memories of the past
Amazing.
Superb work on the xylophone by Harold R.
That would be Harry Robbins, not Harold.

This is true music.
Here's to those times.
Easily as famous , if not more famous than 'It's Just The Time For Dancing'.A tune once known by millions.
I used to have this on a tape of the bbc dance orchestra stuff. I collect 78s and just saw, and lost my first copy of this, the only one i've seen in about 8 years, ah well
Damn... no one plays the xylophone like that anymore.

Its a small segment of the dutch national anthem right at the end of the song between 2.25 and 2.33
No it's a piece from Auld Lang Syne
Whoever was on the glockenspiel really knew his stuff!
who else could do a radio broadcast from the maiden voyage of The Queen Mary!!?😏

I wonder what it would sound like without the stock aching and WTF arrangement.
he almost reminds me a little of Shostakovich.
reminds me of mickey mouse back when he was all black and white
It reminds me by tom & jerry...i don't know why
Tom and Jerry From 1940?
He's no Teddy Brown but it was a good solo.
I wonder what the fuck am I doing with my life, listening old shitty dance music from the 30's.
