  • #Hamsadhwani’s 10th #Baithak - #ViolinRecital - organised on Saturday, 19th May 2018.
    #Violin: Yadnesh Raikar
    (disciple of Pandit Milind Raikar)
    #Tabla: Tejovrush Joshi
    (disciple of Pandit Bapurao Patwardhan)
    #Raag: Nat Bhairav
#Hamsadhwani had the pleasure of hosting young #YadneshRaikar, the talented violinist, accompanied by the equally talented #TejovrushJoshi on tabla, in it’s 10th #Baithak on Saturday, 19th May 2018. Yadnesh is the son and disciple of Swarpradnya Pt. Milind Raikar, a distinguished violinist. He has also had the good fortune of being guided by Gaanasaraswati Vidushi Kishori tai Amonkar, whom Pt. Milind Raikar used to accompany on violin in many a concert. Tejovrush hails from a family with a rich background in music itself - his father, Shri Sunil Joshi, is a music composer, while his mother Vidushi Shalmalee Joshi is a senior exponent of Jaipur-Atrauli Gharana, having learnt from the venerable Guru Pt. Ratnakar Pai. Tejovrush has been learning for a long time from Pt. Bapurao Patwardhan, in the rich traditional Farrukhabad style of tabla.
The violin has been a comparitively recent entrant to the pantheon of instruments associated with Hindustani Music. Many great violinists like Pt. DK Datar and Pt. MS Gopalakrishnan have demonstrated it’s suitability for the Hindustani style. Yadnesh, in his recital, brought out in substantial measure the possibilities of the violin as a vehicle to express Hindustani Music, especially gayaki ang. He was ably assisted by Tejovrush, whose sangat was so supportive that it seemed the artists read each other’s minds as they played, presenting the music and rythmic elements in tandem.
Yadnesh started with Raag Nat Bhairav - choosing a leisurely laya, of the Ustad Amir Khan variety. He presented 3 compositions - Ab Maan Le in Vilambit Ektaal, and two compositions in Drut Teentaal - Kyaa Kariye, and his own composition. The first half was a soulful and melodious coming together of the Nat and Bhairav ang, with Yadnesh exhibiting a tight grip over the laya, particularly the vilambit dheema laya.
This was the first time Hamsadhwani featured a violin recital and it was a memorable morning for all listeners present at the venue as well as tuned in from different parts of the globe to watch on Facebook Live.
