Thanks for that topic. It was an important one. Some practical steps can help with that kind of process: _Tag accuracy is paramount _Some CATs have a tool to simulate a translation in the target language. This allows yo see the layout changes imposed by language extension (in Wordfast Pro, it's "Pseudo translation"). _Owning an alternative to Adobe InDesign can be a good idea if you translate idml often, this way you can check if you got the purpose of short expressions right. ( heads up, you need a computer with a lot of RAM if you will open an illustrated 100 pages book, around 32GB maybe for that). _ DTP is an art, if you're good at it, good for you, you will remain better than robots for a while🎉 All the best Adrian, very good video!
I love your videos because you always give practical advice with real examples related to the translation topics you cover. I’m not sure if you have talked about this before, but I wanted to bring up something that freelancers, especially those just starting out, deal with a lot, which is scams. Lately, I have been getting translation requests and project offers that turned out to be scams. I have been in the translation industry for almost a decade now, but I have only been freelancing for about a year and a half. Even though I have some translation experience, learning to protect myself as a freelancer has been a whole different challenge😅. Before freelancing, I didn’t realize how tricky it can be to avoid getting scammed. I think it would be super helpful for new freelancers to hear about these scams and how to avoid them. Of course, this is just a suggestion, not telling you what to do with your content. Since you have such a great platform for advice like this, I thought it might be a good topic for you to cover in one of your videos. Always the best, and keep up the great work!
Hi there, thank you so much for the kind words, very glad you like the content. That's a fantastic idea to make a video about popular scams and how to avoid them. Would you be interested in talking about it on the channel? It would be great to have someone who actively lives and learns it talk about it in a short interview :) let me know if that interests you and please shoot me a message on LinkedIn. No pressure if it's not for you, just thought it could be fun :)
@@Freelanceverse Hi, I actually don’t like being on screen 😅, and I brought this up in case you had some experience with that... But, you know, I’m also just coming from dealing with two more scammers who used the same document to reach out to me. I usually get one every other day, but today must be my lucky day 🤣. Let’s do it! Let’s spread the word so more freelancers are aware of this threat. I’ll contact you on LinkedIn.
Hi Chrystele, that is very hard to estimate, it depends a lot on the source file. I usually check the files and guess based on my experience how long it will take. If it's a 2 page flyer with a lot of graphics, I would probably calculate 1 hour to be sure.

Hi Adrian. Chrystele, here. You said that you offer DTP services as a complete package but could you explain how you do to estimate the cost?

HUGE HISSING SOUND. AVOID.
What do you mean?
