I was also hoping for a 1/24 kit - but still looking forward to getting the Lysander. There are so many possible schemes for it that it's almost worth getting two!
Well done Nigel, I went to Mount Hope in Ontario, a number of years ago, if you want to see a Lysander all up close & personal, you could do a lot worse, they told me when they first finished it, and rolled it out of the hangar. There was this noise coming from the leading edges,. The automatically deploying leading edge slats started moving in and out with the wind. They work on pneumatics, and sense the wind, so that the pilot gets low speed control, for a very short landing. They used car tyres as well, for landing in French fields for SOE ops. HOABL
Two great new kits Nigel. Excited for the Lysander, and will be getting one. Not excited for the Sea King. I was hoping they would bring out the RAF version next. Sadly, I cannot make Telford either. I am working tomorrow and will be dog sitting on Sunday because my wife is working. Hope your family issue gets sorted out buddy.
I have the Lysander 1/48th Eduard version with photo etch in the attic....will have to compare them! nice to see extended flaps and two crew.....nice touch
Hi Nigel, I seem to remember the first Sea King model was the Navy model so the main difference will be the landing gear. If I remember right, the Navy got lumbered with the Comando model when Egypt cancelled.
Just my opinion but it's strange why airfix still didn't do the yellow version which most of us agree is the most iconic version being a rescue version but there you go, nice kits though
I agree the yellow version is more iconic, especially in the Uk, but unfortunately Airfix don’t do the most obvious kits and they don’t do the most popular kits that most modellers suggest for 1:48th scale. Still waiting for 1:48 Jaguar (1 and/or 2 seats), 1:48 Harrier Gr9 etc..
I was thinking exactly the same, I thought the same thing last year with the other release, but the guy on the airfix stand tod me last year maybe next time, but no 😢
Pre ordered the HC4 here in the US. Looks to have early and late main rotors. The Falklands version needs to lose the airflow strake on the port side tail; these weren't added until after the war. The HAR 3s stationed at Navy Point outside Stanley starting in the fall of '82 had them , but not aircraft during the war just a few months earlier.
I am looking forward to getting the Lysander, however it might take forever to make it down to Oz. The Sea King looks lovely as well, although I have the original in the stash. I am liking Airfix's choice of kits. For a British company, choosing dominantly British and British operated subjects is spot on, particularly when, until at least the late 1960s, they supplied some of the aircraft to a lot of the Commonwealth, giving a broader market for sales. For me it is great as I can build them in RAAF markings. And I just found out that the RAAF operated a few Lysanders (Mk 1 and Mk 3).
Great new releases like them both, as regards the cat yes but cheaper than last time it was a lot of money, it's about time we had a new swordfish, hint hint airfix, icm....👍...
Nigel + it would have been better if they would have offered the Lysander in 1/24 scale 1/48 scale is such a common scale and a popular aircraft scale but 1/24 would have been better
I have some fond memories of building an Airfix Lysander when I was a kid, and I certainly welcome two more British subjects, extending the UK specific orientation (and its not another Spitfite). However, I wont be buying either any time soon., unlike the Bucanneer, UK Sabre or Gannet. Was the Lysander near the top of anyone's list for retooling right now ? Give me a 1/48 scale new/retooled or new release TSR-2, A Fairey Delta, a Scimitar, a retooled EE Lightning, a EF 2000 Typhoon first..
Yes, having much love for that Lysander kit. Hoping for an SOE variant later on. Thanks Nige.

Nice video. The Lysander looks stunning I was hoping for a 1/24 P-38 Lightning. Or a P-47👍
Kinetic do a 1/24 P-47.
@ I didn’t know that , goes for a look. Thanks👍
Dave Coley has them..

Lysander is a favourite of mine as well, deffo gonna get this kit, great brief introduction to these kits👍

Agree with you about the Lysander's looks - one of our very distinctive designs.
When I was in the Canadian Army, in Bosnia in 1996, the Brits had a Sea King with zebra stripes and IFOR on it's sides. Very cool
Awesome video ! Nigel 👍🏻🍻
Lysander looks brilliant, definitely buying one.
The Lysander kit looks great, I've pre ordered the Sea king, and will consider the Lysander as a Christmas present.
Great new releases, i will be getting the Sea King for my stash.
Hope everything goes well for you Nigel.
Ooh quite excited about the Lysander! Once again cheers for the heads up Nigel 👍

I've been looking for a Lysander - perfect timing.
Beautiful upcoming airfix kits Nige love the sea king.
Hope all is well with family
I will be getting this as i love the Aircraft The One at Shuttleworth is always a highlight of any show
I was hoping for a 48 Jag GR1 😢😢😢
Hello from across the pond. Neat releases. I was personally hoping for a 1/24 P 40 or a 1/24 Corsair. Just me. Thanks for the video.

I'm holding out hope that in a few months this will be the next version to be released!

Its all perspective I was on 772 squadron which used mk4s in the SAR role at Portland😊

Im with you Nige! One of my very favourite aircraft. It's ugly beautiful. Would love a 1/32 scale version.

I have the westland sea king har.5 1/72 with the red and gray scheme coming in the post, anything to look out for on the kit
There is a full build on my channel.
Dear Nigel,
I fear that I won’t be at IPMS this year. Maybe next time…
The new releases look nice!
Regards,
Z

I'll be getting the Lysander, first model aircraft I ever made - I think my skills could do it justice now, unlike when I was 8.
I had toyed with the idea of going to Telford, but then the car broke down...
Sorry to hear that John. I kinda wish I wasnt going due to something as uncomplicated!!
Nigel + it would have been better if they would have offered the Lysander in 1/24 scale 1/48 scale is such a common scale and a popular aircraft scale but 1/24 would have been better
And if they did, there would be people saying, " I wish they'd done this in 1/48, 1/24 is too big".
Looks like some kits to build.😊
Cough....Op Granby not desert spoon....just sayin 😅....848 NAS
I wish a good company would make the iconic Huey helicopter from the Korean (MASH titles) war in a large scale. The Italeri one is truly disgusting.
Umm, the Huey was not around during the Korean war. Do you mean the OH-13 Sioux?

Disappointment for me as i dont build 1/48 so not intrested in either but on the upside at least its NOT yet another Spitfire.
