I love senior dogs, I volunteered at my local shelter for over 8 years and I always gave the seniors the most attention and treats, I also walked them the most. Everyone always went straight to the young dogs or the puppies, not me. I knew that their time here was limited and very rarely were the seniors adopted, so they got all my attention. Now that I’m old and disabled I understand more of what these poor dogs went through. 🙏🏻

I love senior dogs too. I had a story about adopting a senior dog. Her name was Ruby. She was a 9-year-old Akita. She was slow and mellow. She taught a young man to stop being afraid of dogs. He'd cower away from her, but she would howl and nuzzle his arm. Eventually, the young man started petting her and made a wonderful friend. Ruby lived to be 18 years old. Then, I had to help her cross the Rainbow Bridge. I still think about her daily. She was such a love! I took her everywhere. She loved car rides.

I worked for ten years or so in no-kill (low kill really ) shelters. My heart, my whole heart was with those senior dogs. especially the ones who lived ten, twelve years on a chain, or in a cage. THE most rewarding thing was to adopt those dogs. they are thrown away, like an old piece of luggage or a broken toy. To give their last days as much warmth, comfort, and food and safety- that they never had? PRICELESS. WORTH every tear shed and every inconvenience and extra work. Highly recommend everyone stretch their hearts- that dog will fit nicely in there.

Because when I brought her to the vet hospital I asked if there was anything that they could do and was told that she was not going to get any better so that’s when she was givien the shot after myself and my fiancé said our goodbyes and kissed her but Knew she would Not be in pain Anymore And My belief is she is in Heaven !

Seniors are where it’s at. They still have some spunk, but are pretty mellow. They just want to love, and be loved. My 12 year old Charlie was adopted at age 10, and he is our world. Give senior dogs a chance. People argue it’s too hard to lose them so soon, but I’d argue the bond is even more intense, because they have needed love, and wanted to give love for so long. They will be your best friend, your family, and occupy your whole heart, just give them the chance.

I adopted a 10-year-old senior dog, he was so miserable on the first day I brought him home, but watching him open up, and finally realize and recognize that he is loved was such a special experience for me, that when I finally lost him, there was a hole in my heart that was difficult to mend. I just adopted a young dog a few months ago, and now I realize that both of us need to go to the shelter and pick out the perfect senior dog for both of us. Give them the life that we all deserve. There are many benefits to having children who interact with animals as well as adults. For example, by taking care of pets, which are fragile, irreplaceable creatures and taking care of them, making it easier for them to grow Compassionate and warm hearted. Also, by observing changes in a pet that cannot talk on a daily basis, you can feel the effect of being gentle and sensitive to people's feelings. Both of these effects are created over a long period of time, not only by temporary contact, but also by the relaxing effect of being together. Even if you cannot live as a pet, it is a good idea to interact with the animals from time to time and support the animal channels😻🐈🙏🙏

Bubs had beds in every room and he learned these were his . He took his last tootle around our block safe places. Bubba loved car rides and he went everywhere with me when ever possible . The vet and I decided to Ikeep him r Bubbs every day.comfortable . He loved going on walkies, and shared many adventures with me. Bubba was about 25-16 years when he died of inoperable and untreatable cancer. The vet and I decided to keep him comfortable. Mr Bubba took his last tootldle around the neighborhood on his bed on the garden wagon. I was with him at the end. Mine was the last voice he heard, and the last touch he felt! I miss My

Against my better judgement my wife talked me into adopting a 10 year old dog from Best Friend Animal Shelter in Utah. She saw Dumplings picture and fell in love. Dumpling was going through a second course of meds for heart worm, was missing most of her teeth and had vision problems in both eyes. My concern was we wouldn't have her very long and the emotional toll it would take on all of us, especially my wife. But she pointed out that Dumpling deserved to live out her days in a loving home.
Absolutely the best thing we ever did. It took some time for Dumpling to adjust as ours was the first home she had ever lived in. What a beautiful sole. For everything we did for her, she gave us back 10 fold. We had her for seven beautiful years.
Please, don't just walk past the senior dogs. They deserve a loving home and people who care about them. A dog's capacity to love knows no age limit.

We adopted an 8yr old girl in 2015. I'm really glad no one referred to her as a "senior dog". I thought... 8 is a good age! Not too young (we definitely did not want a puppy) not too old.
She was so strong, lots of energy for walks. She has slowed down, but she's been such a love. A bit of a challenge at the beginning after having a smaller dog but now that she's at least 15, I try not to think of life without her. 💞

What’s the thumbs down Oh my god!
This so lovely and you’ve said it all here. Senior dogs are still lovable and they’re still the same as others! Why judged and not given them another new lease of life? Everyone should have a second chance! Do you? I don’t like humans who say they’re animals, so what then
They all deserved a happy home too!!!
God made them on the planet and we share it together! Shame on those who didn’t want to care about their feelings. They have every rights to be here on earth!!!
Each and everyday I prayed hard there’s always beautiful and happiness freedom for them, because that’s what they do deserved!!!
Thank you so much for this sharing on the TH-cam video.I pray and wish them all protected and humans please please understand their pains too!
