You want to think of it in two stages.
First, a chosen person rolls (and will do so for both stages). What each player decides to keep from the first roll they have to keep for the first stage. If player one keeps one die (say a six), and player two keeps four (say a six, a five, a four and a three), they are committed to their respective rolls for stage one. The next roll is determined by the LEAST amount of dice needed. Player two needs one so one die is rolled. Both players have to keep whatever is rolled. Lets say a one was rolled. Player two is done with stage one. Player two now has a six, a five, a four, a three and a one for stage one. The chosen roller then rolls three dice, because player one has three more spots to fill. Let's say two sixes and a two were rolled. Player one now has three sixes, a one and a two. Stage two now begins.
Each player can now determine what they want to keep and what they want to discard. Player one wants to keep three sixes and discard the one and two. Player two wants to discard the one. The same roller from stage one then rolls one die (again, the least amount a player needs). A five is rolled. Player two has finished stage two with a six, two fives, a four and a three. Player one is now committed to three sixes and a five, with one more roll of one die to go. Let's say a one is rolled. Stage two has now ended for player one, who has three sixes, a five and a one.

Board Game Freak Board Game Hero Board the game should come with score cards. If it doesn’t, standard Yahtzee score cards will do. With that in mind, let me try another approach:
Each player has a set of five dice - up to four players. These dice will not be rolled. We can call these markers.
There’s also a common set of dice. At random, choose a player to roll these dice (after all players write in their score on the score card - after stage two - the person to the left becomes the new roller).
Stage one:
The chosen person rolls the common set of dice. The players, including the roller regarded as a player, place their own dice (markers) in the slots to mirror the roll of the common dice. Each player then removes the markers, if any, they don’t wish to keep (each player chooses independent of the others so they can have different results). The markers they do keep have to remain for the rest of stage one.
The roller picks up the common dice - through the rest of stage one whatever is rolled has to be kept. He locates the person who needs the least amount of markers (least amount of open slots) and only rolls that amount. Every player who has an open slot must place his marker(s) in the slot(s) to reflect that roll. Repeat until everyone’s slots are filled.
Stage two:
All players are now given one more chance to remove any markers they don’t want. The markers they do keep have to remain for the rest of stage two.
The roller picks up the common dice - through the rest of stage two whatever is rolled has to be kept. He locates the person who needs the least amount of markers (least amount of open slots) and only rolls that amount. Every player who has an open slot must place his marker(s) in the slot(s) to reflect that roll. Repeat until everyone’s slots are filled.
The filled slots are your final results. Enter the results into the score card, where it allows, to best advance your strategy. A new person will now roll the common dice.

Does it matter what order people put the dice in question mark? For example, is it the roller who has to decide first or the other players?

Yeah. One of them kept 4 dice, so should have only rolled 1, but rolled 3. Happened around 7:20. Likely a few other times

Dude I don't know why I don't understand this game. I saw it for $3 at a thrift shop but I didn't buy it. I watched this video, I read the instructions online, I read the guys comment of his instructions, I just still don't freakin get it. LoL 😄😄 oh well.

@@BoardGameMuseumer That's what I was thinking but honestly I never played cards. I can't even play go fish. I've forgotten. I use to play king in the corner when I was a kid but I forget how to play that too.😄 I'd be good in the casino that Dennis Quaid took Chevy Chase in , the movie Vegas Vacation 😄😄😄😄 Just to joke around about myself.

@@BoardGameMuseumer I gotta get into playing cards. Bare with me now if you can. I'm notta card player. I See how the Challenge Yatzee game is played like Poker though in a way. Your hands are the Dice and the Red Dice are the winnings that are in the middle as your chips or they are also your score if you have anything in your hand of what the red dice can be. Correct?
