The people who live in so-called Greece today are NOT the descendants of ancient Greece (as world history knows it). That ancient culture and civilization, unfortunately, went extinct times ago (about 2000 yrs ago), like many other ancient civilizations (like Latin civilization as well, the language of which is spoken in certain official religious ceremonies in the Vatican today and for international medical terminology only). It was a Pelasgian culture - the predecessor of the Illyrian/Albanian culture. During Ottoman times in the Balkans, after the great powers pushed for an uprising in the place that today is called "Greece", an independent country was formed during 1821-1832. The majority of the population there was of Arvanitas and Chameria (together with Albanian-speaking regions of Follorina, Kosturi, Athens and Peloponez) stock. | They also were the backbone of the uprising for independence from the Ottoman Empire. The rest of the minority population was of Slav, Turks, Roma and Aromanian stock. There were no "Greeks" whatsoever, they did not exist as ethnicity or population at all, up until 1821-1832 period in that region. After the gain of independence, to dominate the region, Prince Otto of Germany was installed by European powers and initiated artificial and bloody “Greek” nation-building there. He was proclaimed King of the place by great European powers (and the Russian Empire of that time) and given, at the same time, plenipotentiary powers to rule. By the way, in their European Mafia terms - European powers tried to apply the same ethnic cleansing scheme of 1832, in Kosova in 1999 war of independence, but it did not work. European powers were able to change only Kosova’s state flag and make the Serb language an additional official language in the country, along with the Albanian language. This is because Kosova had the international support of Albania, another already-formed Albanian country. So Kosova, luckily, did not meet the tragic fate of the Arvanites of 1821-1832 in the Lower Albania war of independence of 1921-1932. But some of the main Dardania war leaders are being prosecuted in the Hague, the same as the major Arvanite war leaders were killed or degraded to beggars in the streets in “Greece" after 1832. The Prince Otto royal family in Germany happens to be an admirer of the ancient civilizations, one of them being the extinct ancient Greek civilization, traces and archeological findings of which are also seen in that region called today "Greece" as well.
