    Kanthapura is a 1938 novel by Raja Rao, the famous Indian writer. The novel revolves around the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi and the impacts of non-violence in the fictional South-Indian village of Kanthapura. The story is told as a Sthala-Purana by Achakka, an elderly Brahmin woman. The protagonist is Moorthy- an educated young man, who brings a wave of revolution in Kanthapura.
