    In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens th-cam.com/users/postUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.

    I just bought a Jon 1040 Lund... Just, just got it...pack away in my snowy yard in Ottawa, CA as I wait on my 5HP Honda (and spring melt). After seeing this, I wanna sell it. I'm absolutely not able to do this. Dude, that's crazy beautiful!!!

    I did virtually the same thing to a john boat in the 70's. It was a little bigger and deeper than normal because it had been designed for the La.Wildlife and Fisheries so they could sample traps nets etc. so upon becoming the owner I actually made my deck platforms because the back bench was only a half seat. The best part was that it had a 48" bottom and nearly 2' deep. Had an old chrysler outboard which never faltered but I did replace it with a new 50 Merc. Yours looks good and I enjoyed your build. I smiled at it because it brought back some very fond memories of nearly 50 years ago. I put bass seat pedestals on mine but yours looks better; I did mine in blue. Used her nearly 10 years before I bought a store bought model.

    You did absolutely great. I got given a old jon boat for free. It has some dents and it’s not in the best condition but I’m modeling it after yours. I’ve gotten almost all of the dents out im panting it and I’m making a deck. I’ll also have a fish finder and carpet and a trolling motor and a outboard motor. I’ve using ur boat as inspiration and as a “guide” to make mine. I won’t be able to do as much as yours cause yours is awesome but it’s a guide. Again thank you and you have done an great job.

    You should hook up a small solar panel as well.

    I did a similar project on the exact same boat (14' alumacraft) except mine had a 9.9 hp motor. With mine I just added a plywood deck covered in carpet with chair mounts. No frame and no compartments. It was made to be removable. It made the boat heavy and sluggish. I ended up pulling it out. One of the nice things about a jon boat is the light weight. I think you'll need a bigger boat and motor if you add 200 pounds of wood to the front of the boat.

    3- Questions.
    1- How did you anchor your decks down.
    2- How do you put fuel in the tank.
    3- In the future are you going to add a standup casting seat up front?

    • @AdamRyanA
      @AdamRyanA  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The front deck is such a tight fit that it sits under the lip of the boat and doesn’t move, the back deck frame is screwed into the transom and the deck is screwed to the deck frame, and I have a funnel with a long tube that reaches the gas tank, and yes, if I knew better I would of added it to this build but definitely going on the next build

I will keep it a little more simple because I need to be able to put it in the back of my truck . Some of the places I want to fish you can’t have a trailer or outboard . The military term is OD Green for the paint. My boat was painted the same color by the previous owner and his reasoning was because the color blends in well with most waters and especially in our area where the lakes are mud bottom and turn green very quickly as the water warms up. I like the idea of the strap handles you did vs just drilling a hole in the lid for your finger. I thought about that but then realized how much crap would get inside the storage area then.

There is one minor thing that I would recommend but no biggie, When you mention to have extra people in your boat, you might want to put maybe a couple of hand grippers on the side of the boat for them to hold on to. Just a thought there but over all great job.
