- A portrait done in daytime under an umbrella which means a diffuse light, almost no shadows. Such a portrait has to be done in a minimum of time since kids are quickly fade up. This one was completed in 30mns.
The video has been edited and speed up 2x to fit youtube rules. Let me know what other videoyou'd like to watch. I'll put online the most requested. Thanks for watching.
Очень Красивый и живописный портрет!!! БРАВО! Благодарю Вас за видео! 🤩🤩🤩♥️♥️♥️😊🌹🍀🎁
Just speechless...The silky hairs I go mad...Piercing eyes... Great precision...Twin sister...
You have magic in your fingers... You are a true artist...Lot of Respects...
🙏🙏🙏
This is the sharp end of modern art. To be able to do this is in that time limit blows everything else out of the water. To capture the essence of a fidgety little darling girl. Just awesome 👏 Any critics...can you do this?
I am amazed, especially the eyes, they seem almost alive. very deep and soulful. beautiful portrait.
Witness how professional you can become by working all day everyday. Amazing
Increíble. !
this is absolutely insane for 30 mins of work and for a sitting with a kid.
Beautiful art.
Very beautiful, real talent and obviously a lot of skill and practice
Nice artwork, Watching while I paint. Keep up the awesome videos!
When he detailed those 5:00 eyes you knew this was about to be amazing. Quand il a détaillé ces yeux, vous saviez que cela allait être incroyable.
That skill is supernatural.
Formidable talent. Chapeau bas
l artiste!!!
Wow...skills! Beautiful portrait.👍🏼
30 mins forr that kind of portrait is just magic. awesome quality! my respect
Making your own pastels cost you 10 times less that buying them but it is time consuming. It is interresting if you use a lot. I make my pastel to have my own hues and right softness for my paper. IF I have a lot of request I will make a vid showing my colors.
You're be coming my inspiration more and more every time when I watched your channel.
You're giving me more work to do. Thank you.
This is so incredible!!!!!!beauuuutiful!!!🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
That girl is so cute and patient!
Whaou! Impressionnant ! Du talent à l état pur ! 😍
Watching this vedio is like sitting in a beautiful garden near a lack and felling wind touching your face ....

Absolutely stunning, lovely background, thank you
Hermoso retrato.
El parecido fenomenal.
Saludos desde México.
Felicitaciones maestro buen retrato muy buen dominio de los colores espectacular saludos desde Ecuador
I can not believe all the negative comments, I think the little girl is adorable and you did a wonderful expert job in rendering her. It is very hard to keep a child focused and still, I love the pastel painting.
Yes it is a leadholder but the mine in it is a Sepia light from "La toison d'or" (previously Koh-I-Noor ) but you can do your sketch with a Conté 2430 or 2454.
I use dark brown for the nostrils no black (never). This is a Sepia dark from the same brand I mentioned. The black I use around the eyes is a Conté Pierre noire pencil.
I love your work Gérard. From Mexico
Mike Escamilla Thanks

Que belleza
Magnifique bravo
¡que maravilla!, precioso el retrato, enhorabuena.
Beautiful
WOW!! Amazing..I learned a couple techniques watching you I'm gonna start trying...thanx for a great vid..
Here's the element of this that I think a lot of people complaining about this feature not being brought out enough or this looking too subtle, or whatever need to realize. This is essentially retail art, which means while you have to pay attention to the subject you also have to make sure you're getting a rough estimate of the tastes of the people getting the drawing is too. That means things get cut sometimes in order to ensure the work sells. I'm quite sure he knows full well what he's doing and would've done much of everything some of you mentioned if he was doing this for himself.
Absolutely sweet work though. The genius of it IMO is how simple the values are, yet how complex it still looks to the eye. Great job on the value breakdowns.
wow...wonderfull, maravilloso...perfecto..
Fantastic! 💕🎨

Impressionante
Beautiful and cute :))
wow that's amazing!
Nice art
Bravissimo! Complimenti davvero!
I kept in the video only the very active steps, no need to waste time with the moments you don't see my hand on the canvas....And I don't want to speed up the video too much. Thanks for your pertinent question:)
at 6:20 i was waiting for your portrait to blinkin'... :D perfection!
Whatever they paid it should have been double. Beautiful
Nice drawing
Makes me wonder why art museums like to show off anything simpler than works such as these
absolutely amazing, your very talented 80 euros really isnt much a price for this!
Awe man... I wanted to see the girls reaction... =(
My God - this is A-MAzing! :)
This is amazing.
This is amazing! It would have been cool to see the girl's reaction when she was the picture. :)
Simplemente magnifico
I use my own pastel for skin tones and background. Next to them, I use fabercastell for details and Rembrands especially for intense black and bright colours.
j'aime +++++++
Gorgeous :3 It's my dream to draw like you someday. Tho I'm still failing with colors.
SOOOO GOOOOOD!!
This is insane!!!
muy bueno
Я у захваті, дякую.
Bravo👏!
woww !! increíble tanto realismo que son pasteles?
I would love to know how you make your pastels. I noticed that the original sketch is preserved while you are placing the skin tone on the face. When I use my pastel pencils to sketch out my portrait, I lose the sketch beneath the skin tone layer of pastel. I believe you use the Cretacolor Ergonomic for graphite lead? When you placed the darker details on the lid and around the eyes, it looked as if you were using a marker of some kind. What did you use for the darker details around her eyes?
This is amazing!
This is amazing. When you did her eyes, I sort of felt something amiss in her hair! But, you did her hair wonderfully later! I was highly impressed by the way you did her hair! Can you please tell me which types of 'off-the-shelf' pastels can we use in place of your home made pastels which can give the desired effect? Also are there any tools for smudging these pastels? Thanks! Brilliant job again!
@GerardMin
wow!! you actually make your own pastel, can you make a video on how to make pastel, I mean if you can give us your secrete!! hehehe!!! Thanks!!
@archangelmike07
Most of the pastel I use are home made. I also use Rembrandt for details
Great video but I prefer your old guitar soundtrack Gerard!
what pastels are you using??? very nice work..
💯 puntos👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Wow, what can I say, I'm speechless....its just so beautiful! I admire you SO much!! I love the colors you use; your technique is just so tender yet strong!
My deep admiration and respect, Mr. Mineo!
By the way, where can you buy that paper?
Cheers,
-Wendy
@GerardMin Mr. Gerard-
I'd like to throw my vote in favor of a vid showing your colors, perhaps even how you make them. Needless to say, you are a remarkable artist with a wealth of knowledge to impart to those with less experience. BTW, a couple of questions:
1) Was that a leadholder with graphite lead that you were using in the beginning?
2) Did you use a black marker on the nose and other places?
Thank you and I hope to hear from you soon.
Yup!
amazing
pastel is a material to use on grainy paper or velour paper, unless your printing paper is a bit grainy, you can't use pastels on it.
I use mainly my own pastels, home made, some Rembrandt and Faber Castell for details.
👍👏👏👏👏👏👏
Gerard, this is a fabulous portrait, "in action", thank you. 2 things, I wanted to know if you are using velour on this particular portrait, with the young girl. Also, am considering buying your video, I notice you start the portrait with the nose, have you always done it that way? Thanks, very much appreciate the video
