Just speechless...The silky hairs I go mad...Piercing eyes... Great precision...Twin sister... You have magic in your fingers... You are a true artist...Lot of Respects... 🙏🙏🙏
This is the sharp end of modern art. To be able to do this is in that time limit blows everything else out of the water. To capture the essence of a fidgety little darling girl. Just awesome 👏 Any critics...can you do this?
I can not believe all the negative comments, I think the little girl is adorable and you did a wonderful expert job in rendering her. It is very hard to keep a child focused and still, I love the pastel painting.
Absolutely sweet work though. The genius of it IMO is how simple the values are, yet how complex it still looks to the eye. Great job on the value breakdowns.
Yes it is a leadholder but the mine in it is a Sepia light from "La toison d'or" (previously Koh-I-Noor ) but you can do your sketch with a Conté 2430 or 2454. I use dark brown for the nostrils no black (never). This is a Sepia dark from the same brand I mentioned. The black I use around the eyes is a Conté Pierre noire pencil.
Making your own pastels cost you 10 times less that buying them but it is time consuming. It is interresting if you use a lot. I make my pastel to have my own hues and right softness for my paper. IF I have a lot of request I will make a vid showing my colors.
is so perfect... I want to make myself one as I'm not good at doing realistic drawings.. and if it looks fine I want to do one for a friend, so seeing this video helps a lot. Thankyu!
This is amazing. When you did her eyes, I sort of felt something amiss in her hair! But, you did her hair wonderfully later! I was highly impressed by the way you did her hair! Can you please tell me which types of 'off-the-shelf' pastels can we use in place of your home made pastels which can give the desired effect? Also are there any tools for smudging these pastels? Thanks! Brilliant job again!
Here's the element of this that I think a lot of people complaining about this feature not being brought out enough or this looking too subtle, or whatever need to realize. This is essentially retail art, which means while you have to pay attention to the subject you also have to make sure you're getting a rough estimate of the tastes of the people getting the drawing is too. That means things get cut sometimes in order to ensure the work sells. I'm quite sure he knows full well what he's doing and would've done much of everything some of you mentioned if he was doing this for himself.
@GerardMin wow!! you actually make your own pastel, can you make a video on how to make pastel, I mean if you can give us your secrete!! hehehe!!! Thanks!!

I kept in the video only the very active steps, no need to waste time with the moments you don't see my hand on the canvas....And I don't want to speed up the video too much. Thanks for your pertinent question:)
I use my own pastel for skin tones and background. Next to them, I use fabercastell for details and Rembrands especially for intense black and bright colours.
@GerardMin Mr. Gerard- I'd like to throw my vote in favor of a vid showing your colors, perhaps even how you make them. Needless to say, you are a remarkable artist with a wealth of knowledge to impart to those with less experience. BTW, a couple of questions: 1) Was that a leadholder with graphite lead that you were using in the beginning? 2) Did you use a black marker on the nose and other places? Thank you and I hope to hear from you soon.
I would love to know how you make your pastels. I noticed that the original sketch is preserved while you are placing the skin tone on the face. When I use my pastel pencils to sketch out my portrait, I lose the sketch beneath the skin tone layer of pastel. I believe you use the Cretacolor Ergonomic for graphite lead? When you placed the darker details on the lid and around the eyes, it looked as if you were using a marker of some kind. What did you use for the darker details around her eyes?
Wow, what can I say, I'm speechless....its just so beautiful! I admire you SO much!! I love the colors you use; your technique is just so tender yet strong! My deep admiration and respect, Mr. Mineo! By the way, where can you buy that paper? Cheers, -Wendy
good day bro! seems that you are using diffrent kinds of pastel, can you tell me what are they called and the brand that you are using. Thanks for the video.

Bonjour,
Beau portrait surtout en 30 minutes!
La 1ere couche de couleur pour les cheveux : est-ce du noir ?

Makes me wonder why art museums like to show off anything simpler than works such as these
Bravo👏!
