always great to see enthusiast and happy Onewheel owner ! watching this video makes me want to hop on my GTS. I’m blessed to be able to commute daily at work with my OW !
"The commute was fun." Yup. I'm 53 and I truly enjoy my Onewheel. I have been hurt a few times, bad bruises on my legs and hips, small fracture in my wrist and a cracked helmet. So, I still enjoy it. But also built a bit of respect and am more aware of risk. I wish I was an owl, to be able to swivel my head around more!
🦉 I like that the sideways stance gives you a the ability to look back and forward. It’s much more uncomfortable for those on bikes and scooters to look back.
Yes! I love it. It’s totally worth it. I took it a step further and made a resource guide for prospective riders that I can easily share for my phone. You can take a look at mine here: ginger-zenobia-198.notion.site/Onewheel-DMV-Resources-4656845afa874da990a43f07166a18f5
WHAT AN AMAZING VIDEO. DUDE THE WAY YOU GAVE UP THE ROUTE TIME, TO have a beautiful interaction with a fellow onewheeler 😢❤ THAT IS WHAT IT IS ALL ABOUT BABY
Thanks for putting the time into making these, Don! I am part of a different DC community (for my brand and model of car) but I've thought a lot about switching to a OneWheel now that I have a closer job (1.5 miles compared to 60+ miles for my old job). Your attitude towards other road and dedicated lane users is VERY empathetic for this area.
ONEWHEEL IS KING! I never move my car to go buy food or call uber eats! Don I ride fast my damn-self. Ride how you feel. as long as you geared up brother it's all GOOD! I I plan on BUYING THE GT -S , this summer.
Thank you, @onewheel-king 🙏🏾 It feels like wasted money and a wasted fun opportunity to drive a car to get food, or order delivery on a nice day. I know you’ll love the GT S if you love speed!
Pint with Quart battery, Pint X and a stock XR. I've never experienced tail drop over speed bumps.....but I also coil my body like on a BMX bike at the pump tracks. 🤷♂️ I haven't experienced alot of the issues others have. Mine have been mostly carving too hard issues. Only nose doves ive ever had were when i would try to get out the way of a car that doesnt see me in crosswalk and i give it too much.
You can definitely overcome most of the board’s limitations with technique. I feel like the tail drop was a GT-related behavior. People didn’t complain about it on any of the boards you mentioned.
There are lots of group rides in DC. You’ll often find Onewheel riders with DC Bike Party, and sometimes, we’ll join DC ESK8 rides or make ad hoc plans on Telegram. I haven’t been on one lately, but I’ll likely check something out when it’s warmer.
man, i got pushed out of a bike lane by a reckless driver at 25mph , and took a really hard spill, head-on, into a curb. i sent in a diagnostic report and FM said everything is straight, but I have a big mental block keeping me from hitting those top speeds again. :(
If you wanna keep riding street you need to think like a motorcyclist and pre-empt this sort of thing. Not saying you’re in the wrong, but that doesn’t matter much if you eat shit. You were going too fast for the scenario 😊. Internalise that and you’ll get your mojo back
Yikes! A hard fall can shake your confidence for sure. One thing I learned from @OnewheelWing is that better safety gear can help your confidence. He would ride fast but with a motorcycle helmet. I'd add a padded jacket and pants if you want to push higher speeds.
Yooo, loved the video bro. I might get the new GTS with 6inch hub and curved rails. I have a question now that I have seen you riding you are a bigger dude like me I'm like 250 I think. Seeing how well the GTS performed for you makes me excited. What is your weight, if that's not too personal to ask? Thanks in advance.
@12:38 So I have the GT and had to install the surestart because when I would slow down like what you did at the intersection my GT would stop when going slow. Does this happen to the GTS?
The footpad technology is the same, so you’d experience the same on the GT S. You may need to be more conscious of distributing weight on your front footpad to counteract that. Also, in Custom Shaping, you can try Single Zone Activation and max out Jump Reengagement Time to give you more time to adjust your front foot on the sensor.
@cspriggs96 It makes an incredible difference for heavier riders. My GT S-Series is getting repaired, and I’ve been riding my original GT while it's gone. The difference in power is evident. I miss my GT S!
I have a Pint x and plan to get a GT-S in a couple months. Question-I hear you getting the buzz at 25, when do you get pushback? How much separation between them?
The first thing I’ll say is that the extra 5 miles per hour above the GT feels significant. Pushback begins at 24.9, it seems. It’s subtle. Haptic Buzz hits at 25, and the nose feels a little softer at that speed, so I tend not to push it further. 25 on Onewheel is fast enough to feel unresponsible.
Yes. It’s definitely fun. And they’re getting pricier on the high end. The Pint X feels like a good deal these days. Still a fun board, but the GT S is on another level. For me, scooters and motorcycles are tougher to maintain and keep safe in the city. For Onewheel, I can just take it inside with me to bars and other establishments. Same when I get home. I can just park it inside my 3rd floor apartment. I don’t have an elevator in my building, so scooters and EUCs would also be less convenient to carry upstairs to my place. Onewheel is just a sweet spot for me.
I'd love to try a GT-S. No one in our group has one. But our group rides are long and the GT riders can sometimes be the weak link in range(lowest range boards on some rides vs the CBXRs and ADVs), so the low range/longer charging time of the GTS isn't ideal. I'm not even sure the GTS could ride me to work and back home without having to charge. Well no matter to me anyway, I'm glad people like it. I'm all in on the ADV, I would still like to try a GT-S one day.
I’m on the other side in that I’ve never tried the ADV and I’d like to. As far as riding to work goes, I used to commute on a Pint and I’d keep a charger at the office. The board would be topped off by the time I was headed home.
@@followdon took me wrong, I’m on your side, just responding to what commenter said about you going by people to fast, appreciate your reply and videos
I know you’re on my side. But I don’t want to shame the commenter who criticized me. He’s entitled to his opinion. Thanks for interacting. I appreciate you!

Thank you @stirfryjedi. Onewheel has a lot of upside for shorter commutes like yours. Just be sure to do it safely to avoid the downsides! 😅
Love the gts! Great edit!
Thank you! 😊

Consider the Floatwheel if you are tech savvy. Not only does it have more torque but it's like $1000 cheaper.
Thank you, @onewheel-king 🙏🏾

Love your videos bro!! Im a GT rider myself 😁 Please keep making one wheel videos!!!
I have at least a few more coming. Thank you for watching them!
Construction plates are a menace to both one and two wheels.
For sure! It stinks to learn that the hard way 😅 Thanks for watching!

This is great. During the spring how many group rides are in the DC area? I find it hard to find when it’s windy. So big ups to you.

Damn you were flying. I'm 260 pounds, so getting my GT past 17 doesn't happen often. When i go down, it sucks
The GT S is actually that much more powerful. 22-23 feels natural and 25 is possible even for heavier riders.
@followdon got it on an amazing deal from a guy that wiped.out and was done with it. GTS is like a whole new experience for my big ass lol

Your shoes scare me 🫣 You don’t prefer flat sole shoes/more contact with the board?
At this point, I can wear almost anything, but it’s nice to have more contact to receive more feedback from the board.
Hey having coffee
& watching
From downunder..
Yup, another downunder onewheeler here! That GTS looks fast. I would love to put together the VOW after seeing that on action!
Cheers, mate! ☕
Thanks for watching another video!
That thing looks AMAZING! I definitely want to try the VOW.
If you love speed try the adv 25mph is nothing on that 😂
I’d like to! Hopefully I can find a local rider that has one. I don’t want to blindly purchase one.
Suuuuure, it was the road.
lol 😂 I would probably claim that one if I dealt it 💨
9:20 this was bad decision by FM, battery should have been bigger better & user replaceable
I would have liked the board to be better than the GT in every way considering the high price tag.
The battery is technically better.
@TheSakufighter yup. Just needed more of them.

I’d like to! I hope someone lets me borrow one for a video.
Broke my right elbow form a nose dive now my arm is disable.
Yikes, man! What does the recovery process look like?
3:25 like bicycles going by fast, come on, Society today has gotten so worried about safety they don’t know how to experience life
I’m definitely riding within the culture and context of my city, but I understand the criticism.
