This is why I didn't understand the early comparisons between Elder and Ryze. Elder requires you to play somewhat proactively, risk your units by attacking, and has an origin that opens up incredible opportunities for regions that wouldn't otherwise have access to late game bombs. On top of all of this, the dragon itself is a fantastic card for late game that most people would be glad to play if the cost gets low enough. Ryze, on the other hand, is completely reactive and is essentially a solitaire deck. On first look, his origin seems to be as groundbreaking as Elder, but his stupid passive fills the deck with useless Delve into the Past spells. This means that even with only 1 Ryze for access to a wide assortment of great spells, you can end up with dead draws. On top of that, Ryze himself doesn't synergize with any archetype. He doesn't even synergize with landmark decks, since they're usually board-centric and need the space. He has no built-in protection until he levels, so you really don't even wanna attack with him to trigger his landmarks. His entire origin and effect is solely dedicated to his garbage wincon, leaving no room for creativity or experimentation. Elder dragon is infinitely better.
I've been running a version of this since the start of the expac when I realized Elder gives the same access to Broadmane/Rex as Jhin. I'm not all-in on the spell reduction units though, I feel like the portal package gives you all the free board you need. Ever since they gutted Heisho (phew), I've been running a few copies of Genevieve as wide board payoff, and it's felt pretty good. Also it's crazy how the only thing this deck is missing from Eternal is Pokey Stick, but what a HUGE loss that is! Sainen helps, though.
Yo sirturmund ive been experimenting with mordekaiser a lot recently and I think one of his best variations is with Anivia. The only road blocks I run into is that getting enlightened is just a little slow for the natural curve of the game so I experimented with just normal ramp card and with the 2/1 boar that gives a mana gem on death. Giving that deathless or using a soul cleave helps a lot with the curve and fits the theme of the deck. I also think something every mordekaiser deck should be running is gluttony to sac amalgamation of vile rites into spectral ironhound. It would be better if there was a good 4 drop with last breath but it turns out there is literally only 1 4 cost last breath card in the entire game and its not in freljord or shadow. Anyways, id love to hear your thoughts on the deck or maybe see you try it out in a future video
The idea is that using Elder spell you could draw your 0 costs Burblefish and Plaza Guardians, and that you can still level him up pretty quickly with those units. There is many different variations of this idea with Elder running around though and don’t think any are bad. They all have their own merit even with just one Elder.
Yea it’s the same weakness Norra Jhin had in the past. There are some better lists running out there and recently Seinen Thousand Tails has been a great addition as it’s part of Elder Drahon region and the draw can be critical to fix bad hands. Even more so if you high roll Deathless on Seinen

Really well said
Everytime I stop playing LOR for a while I see your videos and enjoy it, I might enjoy your videos more than playing the game
Thats a nice compliment, thank you :)

Unfortunately Anivia is not in Standard so it will be a while before Eternal ladder opens back up again and we can try it out.
@@SirturmundLOR ah i forgot it switched again
I played a version that ran early bird gnar and condense rex as wincon. did pretty well
Yeah there are few version this version slower
I have a pretty high win rate against this deck but the losses make me so sour and i dont like it lol. Not that its actually op
Depends what is you main deck I'm ok with this deck but ofc you need to adapt to meta to win
Why run all three elders ? wouldn't 2 of the elder spots be better spent for other cards ?

This deck can brick really bad at times.
