An equine vet works at my school and during her required veterinary internship horses would often come in for emergency colic surgery. The horse’s intestines would be laid out on a small, sterile table that they barely fit on and she and she and a few other interns had to make sure they stayed on that table until they were ready to go back into the horse. Apparently it was really stressful because if the intestines fell it wouldn’t be safe to put them back into the horse.
i was getting my wisdom teeth removed and this is the only part of the surgery i remember past getting my IV. they were using like water to rise the blood away and were having me swallow. and i started choking and i remember them taking everything out of my mouth and waiting for a second. i don't remember what happened after that until i was walking to a wheelchair. but i was awake the whole time.
1st one - a man recently died from burns complications at our local hospital from the same thing happening. That dude in the 1st story got away with it, luckily.
My mother was getting an infected tooth removed and she was awake. She couldn't speak, move or open her eyes but she could feel all the pain and now she has PTSD. She had a full on panic attack the other day when she split her lip and the taste of blood triggered her.
I'm so sorry. I had a crown done about 18 months ago for a broken tooth and the dentist was horrible. The numbing meds did nothing except numb my tongue and lips. They shoved my tongue back so hard I couldn't breathe. The block they put in my mouth to keep it open just made my jaw muscles seize up and clamp down on it. It was 2 hours of the most excruciating pain of my life (and I've delivered 4 kids and suffered from gallstones). I had residual pain for months after and still remember it like it was yesterday. Highly traumatic.
I don't think anything serious happened, but my mom said that when I had my appendix removed (I was 8) It took a little longer than expected. I'm fine, and I had a scar that was only like 1 inch long, but that's the closest thing I have because I am not a surgeon, I haven't even graduated high school yet, and that's the only time I really had to have surgery.
The one with the pilonidal cyst: Ive had one of those and after 4 days of denying it due to my fear of hospitals and doctors offices, I had my buddy take me to the ER. Not even kidding, they gave me locals in the ass and had me good to go in 45 minutes. The procedure is easy. That dude had a doctor who didnt know his shit.
You know that split second when your logic brain doesn't kick in yet, and you jump to (often stupid and scary) conclusions? I may have scared nurses into thinking I was having a seizure for that split second. When I'm cold, anxious, or just randomly, a leg does that mindless bouncing thing. Waking up from surgery, as a response to having my innards rearranged a bit, being chilly after a drug nap, and having the seconds count down until vomit time, both legs decided to go rogue and shake like hyper chihuahuas.
@19:03 "sharp little hooves" except hooved animals are born with a gelatin-like cap on all their hooves so there's no damage to either mother or baby. An actual vet should know that.
Was having oral surgery. It was a pretty minor surgery so they let me have laughing gas instead of the hard knock out drugs. They finished the surgery, turned off the gas, and I was immediately and violently ill. Stayed sick for 2 days. There's a reason they tell you not to eat before surgery!
Oh god, the one where they sliced the aorta... that is noooot gooooood....
Water + Redstone.
F
That just gave me ptsd
Surgery is stabbing someone to life.

Needle in jugular... Well! Here I go tapping out barely a minute in.

I’m so sorry you’re mother has this problem. Have you/will you sue? That’s a major fuck up that clearly has serious ramifications.

@@kranberry3318 Well, I don't think they can sue really in this case.
You always hear "surgery went fine". But you'll never hear the truth!

You need to watch a video that teaches how to tell a compelling story
@@redram5150 nah I'm good, I'll just continue to tell really long boring stories. You can if you want to tho
So, a thing happened. That’s your whole story basically
Today I learned that to work in medicine, you are either a psychopath, or you become one in the process.
It's a really really bad idea to watch this a couple of hours after you get out of surgery...
I’m not scared of dying on the table, I’m scared of some shit like this happening 🙈 human oops
Never thought of this until now. With more and more technology being used for surgery, IT support for OR is one stressfull job.
okay 4 minutes and 22 seconds in and I am done. Already feeling weak...
great, now I feel even more uncomfortable about needles
This reminds me of what I heard, what do you call a doctor that just passed, Dr.
Dead?:
1:30 how are you a vet and you mess this up?
Pilondial cysts are hell, they won't even operate on mine

i know these are a minority of cases, but it for whatever reason fills me with dread and makes me think surgeons are incompetent
Well, if I wasn't afraid of surgery I am now.
Thank u for that....mental image at 4:00 I almost puked it was if I could describe it on one word it would be either traumatizing or disturbing......
I've had a spinal fusion and tons of surgeries on my femurs, I dont even want to know if something went wrong

I also did this. Didn't help that I was waking up from having the bones in my leg set back in place.

11:56 ten second rule!!
3:50 Why the hell wasn’t he given any anesthesia!!?!?!
Anyone in the operating room when Christopher Deutsch was performing surgery.
Is that the surgery with 300% mortality rate
@@legitimate8463 That would be Robert Liston, designer of the "Liston Knife" and for whom Listerine was named... if I recall correctly. ;o)
Never mind it was at 4:05 not 4:00
Nice vid keep going
1:00 Dear fucking god, and I thought the Black Jack anime made that shit up
This made me cringe so hard. I don’t want dinner anymore. Why was I laughing at that sist one?
