@@AppelboomPennen I am also interested in azizah's writing demonstration. She arguably handles flex nibs better than Stephen. Hope the nib matches the performance of the vintage montblanc nibs.
This nib is not like the flex nibs on vintage pens I've owned or used. I'm willing to wait and see, but if history is any indication, just about everything is wrong with this combination of pen and nib.
I have 2 149 Montblanc Meisterstück fountain pens. One has a 14k nib that has been ground and adjusted with added flex by Mike Masuyama (it's my EDC and never leave home without it). The other is an 18k that has been ground to EF from a medium. These are regal pens. A treat to write with and the ink capacity is a dream. Thank you for sharing and showing us this lovely addition to the Meisterstück family.
While very expensive these are very exciting. I have both a 149 and 145 as well as a Homer and St. Exupery editions. I often read how they are so overpriced but my experience has been that they are great writers, as well as pieces of art I can carry with me every day. Thank you once again for an informative and well done video.
Wonderful video thanks. I just bought my 149 flexnib, love It. Love use It everyday. They say it's too expensive but i think is a joy to use It. Thanks applelboom i like very much your channel.
Fabulous pen, thank you for showing it. I love my existing MBs, not sure if they will manage to capture the flex of some of my vintage pens, but if anyone can, it would be MB.
Simply beautiful pens and I’m really enjoying your videos to learn so much but sadly, these are way out of my budget range. Still, I like to learn about all fountain pens and your videos are always appreciated.
@@geofdunn1091 hey there Geof.. I have to say.. I have some very nice and a few expensive fountain pens.. over the years I have truly learned that price and gold are not actually the measure of a great pen.. I get as much enjoyment from my Jinhao 159 with a fine Goulet (Jowo) steel nib as I do with some of my classified pens that may skip or hard start. Sure, a nibmeister can fix most of this.. but the problem is finding one that has the time to do the job. Rock whatever you can afford and love them for the pleasure you will get. Thanks!! Frank Bruno Hi Frank, I absolutely agree with you! I may never have a MB but I love writing with almost every pen I own. As a matter of fact one of my favourites to write with is the Pilot Metro stub 1.0 😁
I am seriously considering to get one of these, apparently they are very nice by the reviews I've read. I hope it's still available by when I can buy one.
This video was great joost! The quality of your videos improve each time you upload! I might have to save up for a calligraphy nib this Winter, and of course I'll buy from Appelboom :)
Montblanc has huge problems with their production due to pandemic restrictions of the German government, but we hope that we have not sold our last Calligraphy Montblanc yet
Why 18K and not 14K? Since it has been so far proven and in practice - to have 14K alloy used for flexible nibs (less prone to permanent deformation and better elastic properties than 18K)? Any info on this? Amazing pen - considering I own two 149's (among other MBs) - this one I really want/need since I don't even use my 2 149s.
Never would have imagined montblanc would someday offer flexible nibs like the vintage models.... Fantastic........ Hope Stephen reviews it soon...
ARUNABHA LAHIRI there is a pen on its way to him... so I am sure he will

ARUNABHA LAHIRI she has the pen already and I think the video will be uploaded soon!

Beautiful video and presentation as always.
That nib is fantastic, and also gorgeous. The ink is spectacular!
I tried this pen out at my local Montblanc dealer, it felt sooo smooth! And it has a good weight and the gold looks beautiful and alive.
Which one? The Solitaire or the 149?
Beautiful collection

oooohhh my wishlist is getting bigger and bigger....
This new pen looks great with the gold leaf... I wish I had all the money available to go for every nice pen that is released.

My dear, Joost, MB have finally realised my dream - going to check on both models on your site, now.....Thank you for a wonderful presentation !! :)

No doubt about that, Joost !! :D

Very interesting
Is this pen still manufactured? Can't seem to find it anywhere, not even on Appelboom's website.

Es realmente magnífica.
I want this pen
I'm fighting with jinhao and FPR flex nibs. I need a real quality flex nib. I wish I can find in Brasil.
Is the an ink reader in the solitaire? Why sites it have that weight? Any metal parts?
The solitaire has no ink window. Don’t understand your second question. The Solitaire has a lot of metal parts.
This takes a LONG time to ship, so patience is needed
calligraphy is like dancing - you cant buy it ..
True, and lots of practising!
