I still cry for them. My heart still breaks. We had so many friends and with those friends we had our family. So much youth, so much love, so much want. We wanted it all.......God Bless each and ever one.

Me too fob1xxl. I was there, in SF in the 1980s. I was in my 20s then. During this agonizing period of time, I feared every minute of the day thinking I would get sick. I never did, but literally everybody around me did, and I mean just about everybody. I somehow survived and now have only memories and photos and letters from lovers and friends I cared about and loved. I was 20 when this video was made. I could have very easily been one of the sweet boys in this video; skinny, pretty hair, naive, and making big plans for my life. It just kills me still, every time, but I can't stop scannning these video as I search for familiar faces in the crowds of people I once knew when I too was so young. I will be 60 next year (which stuns me), and while grateful for my good health, I am sad becasue I should be celebrating with all my friends, who too should be turning 60 with me. Decades have ticked on by, and even now I just can't wrap my head around it all and the enormity of what happened to us.

@@anthonydavid5121 You're alot younger than I am. Your story is haunting. I know exactly how you feel. My lover in 1977 was only 22 and he decided he wanted to have an open relationship. I said no and we broke up. I didn't find out until years later in 1989 that he had died of Aids when he was just 34. I did have a relationship though that lasted 40 years. We met in late 1977 , never dated anyone else, never cheated, never got Aids. He died in 2017 from diabetes. We we were able to escape the virus while alot of our friends didn't. I just turned 76 so I've been at this a little longer. It never gets any easier when you reminisce. Who would have thought that we would have all this heartbreak to live through and be only one of a small number that wasn't touched.

@@fob1xxl I once told somebody "I somehow managed to get out of San Francisco unscathed." In time I realized that wasn't true. I managed to get out alive, yes, but not unscathed. AIDS directly effected so much of my life, both professionally and personally. Now, it's all just one big sad tearful memory. You are right, it never gets any easier when I reminisce. My sympathies to you on the loss of your loved one.

I've just come across this amazing and touching video.
I was 15 when Mr Milk was assassinated by Dan White. Dad was a real fan of his; and due to it, I myself became a huge fan as well.
When I first visited Castro, in 1977, I do remember seeing many hunks walking by Toad Hall and Twin Peaks, crossing the streets and hugging their lovers and friends. I used to dream of living in the Castro. But life carried on, we, me and my family, moved back to Brazil, and my teen dream never came true.
One day, I'll visit Castro again, and I'm sure I'm gonna walk down those magical slopes in silent prayer.
    God bless them all!

Translated: I wonder why so much pain why so much sadness, why so much death ... all these happy smiling faces, all these nice men why not live ... to enjoy the best in their lives, ie love. This cursed disease that destroyed so many innocent people, I pray for so many souls that were lost prematurely, I cry seeing all these images framed by a wonderful musical feast! Never to experience something like this again. We do not deserve it! Congratulations on the moving video !! - THANK YOU SO MUCH! 🌈🌈❤️❤️ More to come!

    • @DramaDad

Yes, if you look at the AIDS 1978-189 video, it's all original... also, there's lots of copyright stuff on them so I had to remove the original audio in some instances because the music was playing in the crowds, was copyrighted. LOL
