Hey there! You may have noticed this video looks EXTREMELY funky at 8:51 and doesn't really make sense. This is because the creator of the podcast requested that the clips of the podcast be taken out. Here's what's in the podcasts: - Sonic Central states that non-commentary channels ARE oversaturated - Sonic Central has 30 unpublished videos, that he will likely never upload due to the oversaturation - Sonic Central preferred when personalites were more prevalent on TH-cam, and that non-commentary channels would be promoted by the algorithm way more than discussion videos. Thank you for understanding 👍
I can definitely understand your views on this subject. I myself wish there was a bit more variation in content, and I understand the frustration in the amount of channels doing this type of content now. I started this channel to cover mods and fan games, purely out of how much I love of this series, and the talented people in the community. I never once thought for a second, no-commentary would become this popular. It is unfortunate how a lot of no-commentary channels - and believe me, there are a lot more than what you listed here - aren’t doing anything that hasn’t already been done before, or aren’t really trying to do anything new. Like I said in the podcast, I’ve been very guilty of not being very original - and this is something I will admit - but I have attempted to branch out in the past and am continuing to do; with livestreams, discussions etc. and I am currently in the process of a rebrand. So much more original content will be coming to the channel, and commentary will be the primary type of content too! With no-commentary on the side. Personally, I feel people can upload what they want, and do what makes them happy - but I just wish people would try more things! It would really go a long way, and add a lot more to Sonic TH-cam overall. Hopefully when my rebrand is done, you could possibly give my channel a second chance. Thank you. 👍
@@roseforgottheaccentjett For me, for Destiny I think you were but the others I thought you were just saying what you truthfully think. It's still better than saying things you don't really mean.
Nice Video! I actually think of this type of stuff WAY MORE than I ever should. As someone who started uploading Sonic videos after Sonic Central and Blue Vivicity, and before what I call, "The Sonic Swarm" started, I got a very interesting take on the subject. I also been monitoring analytics for awhile now based on channels such as Sonic Terminal and other "suspicious" channels and have come to my own speculations why this wave began in the first place. This is going to be a long post so buckle in. (Quick Note - I think Central and Blue Vivicity's channels are good for the most part) First off, just wanted to say I can tell you haven't watched too many of my videos based on the description given of my channel in the video (don't mean this as a jab), since as you said there's alot of none-commentary videos out there, and probably didn't care to watch any more. So I guess before I start diving into the Sonic community, I want to start to give a brief history of how I got into it. Real quick before getting started, how would I describe my channel as? What makes it different? - I actually started on TH-cam as a none-Sonic channel, the algorithm basically led me to solely focus on Sonic, which I still don't regret as Sonic has always been my favorite gaming franchise anyways, but it was really the only videos on my channels that would get many views back then. I started as a speedrunner, I actually had multiple top 10 speedrun/score runs in various Sonic games, I wanted to do a mix of speedruns and mods when building my channel, and the speedruns were surely what made my fanbase when starting out. My gameplay in my mod videos is phenomenal and if you ask around in the community you will get the answer I have the best gameplay. This is not to brag, but to show what makes my channel unique and that I put ALOT of time in my videos and effort that isn't seen from the outside. Sadly as time went on the algorithmically heavily discouraged speedruns, it was also just generally harder to keep doing daily speedruns as I got a job and had many more responsibilities after College. It was a lose-lose to do speedruns. If I ever can do TH-cam full-time I would love to return to doing more speedruns. I still keep the same energy in my mod and fangame playthroughs though. One stage can take me over an hour or two sometimes. You said "can you tell one channels videos apart from another?" Funny enough I find an insane amount of commentary channels using my gameplay without crediting me. I can instantly tell it's my gameplay just by the way I play. Actually happened more times than you would think. xD - My other goal was to focus on the 3D Sonic games. Back when I started posting Sonic videos it was still in the mindset that 2D games are way better than 3D games. Most channels did a blend of something like 60% 2D and 40% 3D back when I started. I honestly don't care for the 2D games and have a deep passion for the 3D games (especially Adventure titles) being some of the best games of all time. So for the most part my channel was specifically centered around 3D, which at the time was pretty unique. Even Central/Vivicity didn't do this. The reason why I have more Dreams games than others is because they are 3D. :) - So to sum this section off real quick, what would I say makes my channel unique? Fantastic Gameplay, Speedruns, and a focus on the 3D titles (which was a bigger deal at the time). I also am one of the only Sonic channels that actually respond to comments for some reason.. Now what about the Sonic Community, what do I think about it? - It's important to note the issue is not just a none-commentary Sonic issue, it's throughout the entirety of TH-cam. Commentary channels talk about the EXACT same topics half the time, and there are plenty of none-commentary videos that copy each other like FNF. The main problem here is TH-cam encourages similar videos with the use of tags, and the other HUGE problem TH-cam has is Bot channels. Let's go back to the None-Commentary Sonic Community though. Why did things escalate so much in 2020? Why are there so many new channels popping up out of nowhere? Why do all these new channels have such an insanely high sub to view ratio, even though they don't reply to comments, don't have good gameplay, and clickbait horrendously and copy other peoples' videos constantly? (Sonic Terminal is who I am referring to the most , I can't stand this channel) - I believe the main reason here is *bots*, so before I get ahead of myself let's go back. Back in the day, Sonic Destiny was known to use bots alot. So we already know there was someone in the None-Sonic Channel community that used bots. It was right in the time period that Sonic Destiny took a break due to the pedo stuff, that all these other channels started popping out of nowhere. Go back and actually look when it happened, the timeline is VERY close to each other. For some reason Sonic Destiny stopped using the bots on his channel after he returned? - I have a few speculations for what happened here. 1) Destiny was being shunned from fangame releases and mods, so decided to make other channels with his bot net, as it would be smarter to put the resources there. 2) He started to sell his bots to other channels, so it's easy for new channels to start up and Destiny profits off it each month for selling the bots. 3) A mix, there's 1 channel that is Destiny (I would most likely say Terminal) and there's the group that are bots. 4) The new Sonic channel group saw how successful Destiny was with bots and made their own bot net. Do I have any further evidence of this you might ask? Well I been keeping a tabs on "odd" relationships on these new channels - Back when channels like Terminal, Sonic Plasma, Ring started they were all invited to one big Discord group with Destiny for some reason. I left pretty quick cause I had no interest. lol - All these channels use almost the exact same banner art and Destiny "accidentally" credited Terminal for around half a year for a banner he didn't make. The other channels like Plasma, Ring, and others would always credit Terminal for making the banners. Funny enough they all took that out of their banner descriptions at almost the exact same time so I can't tell now who made what. - All their Sub to view rates is ABSOLUTELY INSANE. Sonic Plasma is sitting at 5,838,549 views with 30k subs, Terminal is sitting 10,431,815 views and 36K subs. Sonic Beyond is sitting at 7.22K subs and 1,821,063 views. For reference I am sitting at 33,371,976 views with 67.6K subs. I have an insanely lower view/sub ratio even though I reply to comments somewhere between 1-3 hours a day usually and am sort of known for my gameplay nowadays and generally the more subs you have, people subscribe faster. So how is that every single one of these new channels sub to view ratios blow mine out of the water??? Something odd is going on here. - When I published the viral Sonic Omens video I was getting around 200k views a day and was still getting less subs than Sonic Terminal was. My channel was blowing his out of the water and he still would get way more subs than me.. if that isn't a bot channel I don't know what is. - After awhile I think Terminal believed it would be to obvious if he kept going, so his sub count has been around 32-35K behind mine for the past few months and just very slowly creeps up on mine. LMAO - As someone who got a somewhat big name in the community, I can tell you how insanely hard it is to grow the first year, I think my entire first year on TH-cam I was below 1000 subs and got less than 1000 views per video and honestly some of my best content was when I was starting. Some of my finest speedruns are there! There is absolutely no way all these channels managed to gain so many subs at the exact same time. All because they "knew each other". - Terminal made fun of a channel called Sonic Improviser when he got more subs than him, not evidence but D*ck move. There has also been times when Terminal straights up lies to his fans. There was someone asking "why there is so many ads on the videos" and he said, TH-cam places ads automatically (obvious lie). You're really telling me a channel like this is growing so fast? Again can't stand this channel. - Back when Terminal first started, he offered me an old mod that went private way before he started youtube. It was Beatz, Seaside Hill mod for Sonic Lost World. This means he was part of the Sonic Community way before he started his channel. Another clue he did not start with the channel, Sonic Terminal. This could all be the biggest coincidence of all time, but there's something not adding up. As someone who put it almost all my free time into my channel for the past 3 years I can tell you there's red flags all over this. Anyways this was a way bigger rant than I was expecting. Feel free to use it for a video idea if you want. LMAO I am terrible with commentary so I never will. Plus I don't generally like drama, but Terminal irritates me to high heaven. It's basically a channel that tries to copy what I would do, HE EVEN HAS THE SAME HOMEPAGE VIDEO for some reason lmao, clickbaits with it and gets tons of views with his bots. SMH
Wow. Thanks for all that. This was extremely unexpected, you clearly are more "in the know" with this stuff, I would never have thought to look at the analytics for these channels and see if there was some fishy activities going on. You are correct in the assumption that I didn't watch your content. I completely forgot about your channel (apologies), so it was just more of a brief statement on your channel rather than an analysis as I wanted to get the video out and not view anymore. I totally agree with you that commentary channels also copy of each other, I mean just look at some of the News Channels in the community. As for making a video on the Sonic Terminal allegations, while it would be a pretty unique video for me to make and someone needs to highlight what might be going on, as you have said you don't want to get yourself in drama and maybe making it will just cause you distress. I'll check out some more of your content if it includes highly skilled gameplay and more content on Dreams, as I really enjoy Dreams, and for that fact I think your the only mod channel I'm subbed to.
@@roseforgottheaccentjett No problem, honestly it's kind of a fresh air to say this as I only shared this with a few select group of friends for the most part. Guess It was a vent lol. To clarify, I didn't mean for the last part as you have to make a video on the info I posted here, more of a info dump if you ever felt the need to further research on it. And let's you know some of us think about this stuff as well. :)
Hey Overtime, I respect you a lot but many things about Destiny and us (as well as other stuff mostly targeted to Terminal) are a bit wrong. Obviously though, I won't challenge what you believe to be true. Have a great day. :D
Update to past me: the term glazing was crazy I fell into the whole problem of a lack of ideas and then I made the stupid decision to start reuploading sega sonic tiktoks. Now i sit with 60k which hasnt moved in a year, I have a lack of content, I deleted those videos that got millions of views and im so done with yt it sucks. i also took out the Sonic in my name so im now just Revolution if only past me knew
I can see where you’re coming from with this and honestly I have to admit, I’m pretty guilty of some of these points myself. And quite frankly there is way too many Sonic channels out there doing the same thing over and over again. I’m the one to talk because some people criticize my content for being unoriginal. But I’m trying to do some new stuff on the channel as well to stand out more from the others. I just really hope others are encouraged to try new things and stop copying off of one another because it’s not really helping.
HOLY SHIT FINALLY SOMEONE SAYS IT! I’m fine with theses channels because some of them actually put a good amount of Effort but the problem is there’s too goddamn many of them. They’re all the same, loud intro then straight gameplay. Something that’d be pretty interesting is someone with a good and funny personality making mod showcase videos.
Just recently found this video. Many things you did say are quite accurate and I used to fall into it myself for a short while before I shifted focus onto memes and other stuff. Overall, you have a lot of valid points and I fully respect that.
@@socxs_ I can't remember a-lot of this shit off the top of my head but the dude just got bored of playing games in general. He started to have more friend and family problems which lead to him getting more depressed. He also harassed and threatened this girl from for awhile I think. In 2020 he made a new channel that consisted of low edited rant videos, where he ranted about said girl, some of his former friends and weird ass random shit. I hope that he's doing better nowadays. I really hope he isn't dead.
As being part of this community I actually couldn't agree more with this. Despite doing what can be seen somewhat the same I try to avoid the same techniques many of these channels use, because I want to, at that time slot, play something different that I enjoyed at that time and to overall make a Sonic Preservation Catalog that ends up feeling meaningfull. I do not like being compared to most of these channels as I try to do things my way, by making straight to the point thumbnails, straight to the point titles and everything, well, straight to the point. However I can see the other side of the coin: Straight to the point doesn't give you views. For people who have their channels as their only source of outcome I can see why they do things the way they do and I respect that. Different doesn't always equal traction and sometimes you either follow the boat of trends or you will be left in the dust. I will give a simple example. In March of this year I covered and recovered almost all Sonic Official Flash Games from 1997 to 2014. They are certainly different videos as it is a topic not many know about, however it wasn't successfull at all. Why? Because it is something not popular firstly and secondly it is outshined by people who cover new stuff everyday. Unfortunately this is the world we live in and not much will be changed I am affraid. Thank you for making this cool video and wish you a ton of success, your content seems pretty cool as of now :) May more interesting content be coming soon! Take care!!!
Hi Station. I don't think you're like the others at all, you are very different. I never once compared you to the big channels. You always had your own style.
As a Non Commentary Sonic TH-camr I can say this is pretty much accurate, there is way too many of these channels. Don't get me wrong a lot of the people behind them are nice, but there are just way too many people creating the same videos, there was one day I got 3 notifications from 3 different channels, that did the same mod. 3 videos covering the same mod in one day. I just find these channels should be more original with stuff. I have to learn that too, I'm in the middle of changing my channel content to not be the same as everyone else. Either way this was a really well scripted and edited video! Your channel seems super underrated, earned a sub from me!
Wholeheartedly agreed! As a Sonic Modder myself, I almost always struggle with receiving constructive feedback from the community itself. I really wish these Sonic Mod Channels would at least do some commentary with their Mods showcases as you mentioned in the video, so then the commentary will at least give some insight of areas where I would need to improve on my mods.
Glad that someone has made a video about this topic. I am not that much into the modding community but when i try to check showcase videos for some mods they look so bland. I'd rather take a badly edited gameplay video with commentary than whatever these channels are doing
You're true about these channels not reading the modpage description. I used to make some stage mods for Sonic Worlds, and when these channels showcased my remastered stage mods they didn't even bother showcasing the alternate skins or extra levels, as they do with any stage mod or mod in general. It sucks that out of so many Sonic mods, these channels focus on a quick rundown and simple 0 commentary video. It just makes the mod creators seem lazy really. Great video man, keep these going.
No hate on this but I think it's true I feel like I'm covering the same thing and should cover more things that are not the same thing repeated. And the problem with channel like us are we can run out of ideas xD. But I'll take this as feedback to improve myself in the future!
Yoooo as a new non commentary sonic content creator I can agree with all off this my channel started off this year I can understand that some videos look bad and quality is low but hopefully 2022 reconsiders lots of people out there! But for now I'll subscribe for your content to see more!
I understand what your going at here, this is why I want to be a little or even more different from others sonic-tubers and not just showcase mods, I would like do discussion vids about some random crap, but I don't know what crap to discuss about. honestly I don't know what else to do on my channel other then what i just said, to be more original, have you or anyone have any suggestions to improve my channel? (I tried to explain this best I could lol)
I don't know, just talk about anything that other people haven't made videos on. You probably won't get an awful lot of traction, but it certainly makes your content more interesting.
@@Productivity319 idk, maybe making theories on sonic lore would be good? Those use to be popular and people like SEGA scourge just, stopped making them. Anyways people REALLY like those.
Dang bro! Late Viewer, but im really impressed by ur views on Sonic Tubers. As one of them, lets just say that u were pretty accurate with ur points. There r so many of them, sometimes I do them too from time to time, but when u see everyone doing the same thing, the gold starts to rust up. But on the other hand of things, i do feel like origonality and creativity has sort of died off on youtube as a whole. There r just SO many gaming channels doing the same thing, and unfortunately, i dont think its going to stop anytime soon. I do disagree with some of ur points on this vid, but i still respect them, good job mate, have a great day. P.s. Im good friends with Terminal lol 😅
I miss the ones with commentary you actually got to know the person and the different opinion they had nowadays any kid with a decent laptop can make these vids
I like Terminal and Central. What Destiny did was wrong but it wasn't p but just morally wrong and those texts should remain private and just leave out the controversy and just talk about the content and about his content he clearly doesn't give a damn since zero effort is put into the thumbnails and Blue Vivacity keeps getting snowflake praise for milking the same old shit. I give constructive criticism in the comments then there's this annoying fan whining "if you don't like it don't comment on it". The negative criticism is what he should be paying attention to more.
I also hate that the comment sections say: 'Good work keep up the good videos', are all attention seekers and most likely kids with zero braincells. Like what work do they do they play games with NO commentary. And also im happy i grew up with coby than unleashed (he makes the worst commentary sonic videos).

I see. Nps.
I'll just keep this at the back of my head if something else arises.
Hey Overtime, I respect you a lot but many things about Destiny and us (as well as other stuff mostly targeted to Terminal) are a bit wrong. Obviously though, I won't challenge what you believe to be true. Have a great day. :D
Update to past me: the term glazing was crazy
I fell into the whole problem of a lack of ideas and then I made the stupid decision to start reuploading sega sonic tiktoks. Now i sit with 60k which hasnt moved in a year, I have a lack of content, I deleted those videos that got millions of views and im so done with yt it sucks. i also took out the Sonic in my name so im now just Revolution
if only past me knew
I can see where you’re coming from with this and honestly I have to admit, I’m pretty guilty of some of these points myself. And quite frankly there is way too many Sonic channels out there doing the same thing over and over again. I’m the one to talk because some people criticize my content for being unoriginal. But I’m trying to do some new stuff on the channel as well to stand out more from the others. I just really hope others are encouraged to try new things and stop copying off of one another because it’s not really helping.
You're the only mod channel I see play sonic R
HOLY SHIT FINALLY SOMEONE SAYS IT! I’m fine with theses channels because some of them actually put a good amount of Effort but the problem is there’s too goddamn many of them. They’re all the same, loud intro then straight gameplay. Something that’d be pretty interesting is someone with a good and funny personality making mod showcase videos.
Just recently found this video. Many things you did say are quite accurate and I used to fall into it myself for a short while before I shifted focus onto memes and other stuff. Overall, you have a lot of valid points and I fully respect that.
This is why Cobanermani456 will always remain the legendary channel despite his reception as a human being.
Speaking of him what ever happened to him?
@@socxs_ I can't remember a-lot of this shit off the top of my head but the dude just got bored of playing games in general. He started to have more friend and family problems which lead to him getting more depressed. He also harassed and threatened this girl from for awhile I think. In 2020 he made a new channel that consisted of low edited rant videos, where he ranted about said girl, some of his former friends and weird ass random shit. I hope that he's doing better nowadays. I really hope he isn't dead.
@@serial8535 wow…. That’s something when you think of cobi I wouldn’t think of him harassing a girl man I hope he’s doing alright
@@234SuperSimi Thank you! Just try my best!
@@SonicStation You're welcome!
Interesting point
Yes
Thank You for the sub! I look forward to you broadening your content!
@@roseforgottheaccentjett You make sense to me. I'm subbing as well.
@@roseforgottheaccentjettalso blacky gamer doesnt give a shit and that makes him more worse
Hi
@@234SuperSimi hey
@@SonicTerminal I like your channel though ^^`
@@234SuperSimi ^_^
@@SonicTerminal ^_^
Yoooo as a new non commentary sonic content creator I can agree with all off this my channel started off this year I can understand that some videos look bad and quality is low but hopefully 2022 reconsiders lots of people out there! But for now I'll subscribe for your content to see more!
ok ok we have sonic mod channels commenting on this now all we need next is sonic destinity to comment
Sonic destiny: that stuff was from the past and was a mistake dood
I understand what your going at here, this is why I want to be a little or even more different from others sonic-tubers and not just showcase mods, I would like do discussion vids about some random crap, but I don't know what crap to discuss about. honestly I don't know what else to do on my channel other then what i just said, to be more original, have you or anyone have any suggestions to improve my channel? (I tried to explain this best I could lol)
I don't know, just talk about anything that other people haven't made videos on. You probably won't get an awful lot of traction, but it certainly makes your content more interesting.
@@roseforgottheaccentjett Could try go for that, I'll see how it goes, thanks!
@@Productivity319 idk, maybe making theories on sonic lore would be good? Those use to be popular and people like SEGA scourge just, stopped making them. Anyways people REALLY like those.
@@BlueTyphoon2017 Could try that, maybe after my current frontiers playthrough
Do not unlist
It's about time someone talked about the problem with Sonic mods channels
video goes so hard feel free to like
your content is very different unlike the others, i like it
I was trying to find if someone made a video about this, so im suprised I’ve never found this vid. Nice video though!
Thank you ✌
I miss the ones with commentary you actually got to know the person and the different opinion they had nowadays any kid with a decent laptop can make these vids
New sub. Honestly i dont really agree that they are all the same and bad but il respect your opinion 👍
Fair dues, I respect your opinion 👍
@@roseforgottheaccentjett 👍
I like Terminal and Central. What Destiny did was wrong but it wasn't p but just morally wrong and those texts should remain private and just leave out the controversy and just talk about the content and about his content he clearly doesn't give a damn since zero effort is put into the thumbnails and Blue Vivacity keeps getting snowflake praise for milking the same old shit. I give constructive criticism in the comments then there's this annoying fan whining "if you don't like it don't comment on it". The negative criticism is what he should be paying attention to more.
It's you

this was epic vid. keep up the good work
THANK YOU!!!!!!!! HOLY SHIT

Damn what tf did the sonic mods channel do to you?
you did not diss Ugandan knuckles
I also hate that the comment sections say: 'Good work keep up the good videos', are all attention seekers and most likely kids with zero braincells. Like what work do they do they play games with NO commentary. And also im happy i grew up with coby than unleashed (he makes the worst commentary sonic videos).
The fact he’s name Blacky Gaming 😭

i am so glad im not the only one who just cant stand them
I 100% agree they are so many of them
