Fun pizza making tip- the corn meal isn't for flavor or texture per say, the intention is to keep the dough from sticking to the counter and pizza peel by creating surface area under the dough to keep it technically suspended from the flat surface by thousands of little corn meals.
@@grontelp77 it is for not sticking but it is also for flavor, that's why they use cornmeal and not something else that can do the same thing but doesn't taste good.
I lived in the Chicago area for about 1.5 years and the only deep dish I liked was Lou Malnati's Chicago Classic. It's much better than Uno and some of the other local chains that served deep dish. The crust was buttery and crisp. I never had a chance to try Pequod's deep dish when I was there, but heard it's the best. Overall, tavern style was the most popular from my experience.
Pequod's is basically detroit style pizza in a circle pan. It's not a true deep dish pizza. Owners themselves call it a pan pizza not deep dish. Not sure when it started people calling Pequod's is deep dish.
@@JimboJones99 I don't see how people can't live one little second without there little orange man. What the heck does trump have to do with this video?

From Chicago and tavern is first but definitely Lou's for the deep pie. We do Lou's on Xmas Eve every year, the crust is so boss. It is thinner than perceived. It's more like a thin L shaped side profile crust, crispy and buttery deliciousness.
The original UNOs location in Chicago is the only location that still has the original name. The original owners franchised the name out, and then sold off the whole thing except the original location, letting them keep UNO’s in the name but changing the name slightly. Thus Pizzeria UNO vs UNO Pizza.
Ben, my Guy! If you are in nyc, you 0:01 gotta go to Olive Tree Cafe on Macdougal! Right next to west 4th. Comedy Cellar/ Burger America..Also tons of places in the village/ soho area. Hit me up!
Half of my family is from Chi-town. I'll even say it. It's a pie. I think it will get more respect if it's categorized as a pie. It's a damn fine dish, but I don't know if I would call it a pizza. Let's officially name it a Cheese Pie (could also be categorized as a meat pie), and call it a day. 10/10. Would eat again.
Lived in the Chicago area back in my high school days... one of my classmates was a Malnati too! I much prefer the tavern style. I don't get the deep thing but folks seem to love it.
Love tavern style pizza. Reminiscent of a Maryland pizza style, cavalier pizza except Maryland pizza is a rectangle and uses a sweet sauce and smoked provolone cheese. Gentleman Jim's pizza is a must try, but Ledo's (real name, Ledo Pizza) pizza put Maryland style pizza on the map.
Glad to see u doing some Chicago food. I love a thin crust pizza but my parents love them a deep dish pizza. Now that i’m older I appreciate it more but thin is a go to for me.

But he is in NYC Im baffled by the stuff he is ordering. Not traditional NYC foods. Which is bumming me out
As a lifelong NY'er, I hate the argument about "what pizza is better?". It's two totally different styles, and both are bomb. The north east in general (including PA) and most of the midwest has fire pizza. That being said...I've NEVER had good pizza out west. Especially California. Gun to my head, North Jersey has the best pizza. But I'll never admit that in person.
Pizzeria Uno?! BEN! Whatchoo doing?! Go to Johns of Bleeker! Come ON! Go to Patzy’s GO TO THE REAL NYC PIZZA PLACES! I cant watch this. Happy New Year! PLEASE DO NYC BAGELS
85 DOLLARS! I just converted that to pounds, thats 68 notes for two pizzas. I picked up a large Goodfellas frozen pepp, Garlic bread and Chicken strips for a tenner.
That’s definitely a thicker crust than I’ve ever had on a Chicago deep dish pizza. I’ve never had Uno, though. The big tomato chunks are a turn off to me.
bro dripped out wit the pizza chain
Onb
imagine if the pepperonis were made of gold lmaoo
Awww that is so sweet "bro" 😍
its crazy bro
He likes his chains drippy
85 dollars for 2 pizzas is genuinely insane

Either, way?
Both, of them Chicago Pizzas are solid (clean and good tasting). 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Guy is trying to get some money for his flight back home 😂😂😂.
Just kidding. Love your shows Ben , especially the eating.
Happy new year ben!!!
My name is Ben so happy new year to you too. :)
Wow, ❤ that cheese pull! 🥰 Yum. Love thick pizza. Excellent pizza chain around your neck, Ben. 😂
Werd up Ben, I'm loving the Pizza bling chain representing the CHI!!
I really liked the Tavern vs. Deep dish breakdown. That cheese pull was epic! 🧀🔥 Also, the pizza ornament is cool! 🍕✨
Square slices like that remind me of the roller rinks as a kid 🛼
Happy New Year, everyone. Happy New Year to Ben and the Mrs. Eat well and be merry, in 2025.
To you as well dear friend!
More pizza?? OMG Love it! Wish I could try this!
As a famous Canadian Vietnamese YTer would say before the first bite, 'I'm super pumped for this.' Are you Ben? before each bite?

The deep dish pizza doesn't look like what we're used to.
Lou malnatis deep dish is amazing!🍕
Yes it is.
Love your honesty ... not afraid to tell us the truth about pizza chains.
6:44 - 8:55 very detailed , very good reviews of your experienced opinions. Good video.
Pizza sweats!! 😅Anyhoo... these videos wouldn't be the same without Ben's AMAZING appetite!! 😁😁😁
Watching Ben eat is so satisfying 🤣🤣🤣
We claim you in Chicago 💯
Try Adels Halal Ben apparently it’s better than halal guys and I know how much you love them
Nothing beats a NYC blistered, thin-crusted, brick- (not gas) oven pizza.

Chicago Deep Dish: Gino's East.
Tavern Style: Nick and Vitos.
Happy and healthy new year Bendino🎉
Deep dish is hard to find in New York but try Emmett’s. I do love UNO’s though.
7:10 is dead on.
Deep Dish is tourist/celebration pizza. Tavern style is the pizza you get at every spot in the suburbs/city.
no one that i know of get deep dish pizza. when you order pizza its always tavern
Personally I prefer the center slices over the outer slices when it comes to party style pizza.
Someone else prolly said this but the uno that you bought is the national chain that is different from the due and uno on Ohio st
Fun fact: Uno means one on Italian language.
looks like @bendeen is going to stay in the USA for a long time, every video is a banger man.

Love when dean mentions Detroit
Uno n Lou Malnati’s are delious with Malnati’s number one.
Love the tomato chunk…….
$85 for 2 pizzas? Holy shit mate!!!! You were ripped off. I wouldn't even pay that in a fancy ass restaurant.
Dinosaur Barbecue is the move. Dinosaur Barbecue.
EMMETTS in Lower West Side is GASSSSSS HIGHLY RECOMMEND
I’m just here for a slice of that chain. 🍕
Happy New Year, hope the Bulls and Bears do better next year
I disagree. I feel that Chicago doesn't deserve to have good pro sports. It's a pitiful city.
Ah, a man of culture, Lou's is the best.
Damn dude I'm hungry now. Also how the hell are you not 400 pounds by now
plain or pepperoni deepdish hits better since it's not all the sausage that's super heavy
plus the extra cheese on top of that specific pizza
Thin pizza wins for me though i can't taste it, the other has too much crust & looks too messy to eat 🍕 All the best to you & your wife for 2025 🥳🍾🎉
Speaking of corn mill, you need to try Two Boots Pizza East Village, get the The Bayou Beast
Is that a Grand Seiko on the wrist? Man of class
Bar style pizza is my favorite
born and raised in Chicago, please go to giordanos if you you want deep dish....
You gotta pop out to times square with the wife for the countdown ben. perfect timing
bro likes his chain drippy
Happy new years man

Lou Malnati's is a good pizza place in Chicago too.
CHI my town... tavern style for me
Save some of the pizza for Ring Lady!! Have her in another video, soon!!!
The best Chicago pizza has two layers of crust, with the cheese and fillings in between and the sauce on top.
