Ah man, I miss music like this. I go to a mostly white church sometimes with my friend cause I'm in college now. The music's got the same message and everything, but it's just missing this soul.
I try not to get really technical with my tuning I just go by how I was taught in high school or in church pre-rehearsals how to tune my toms they gave me a book that shows different ways you can tune toms I had it in middle school. What I do is listen to different songs by ear and listen to the toms from high to floor on how it sound so I can tune it like that. I guess you can say I have a sound memory it really shows that you can play by ear. ''lol''
Just like I said it's all about the sound your looking for when your performing live or just in small room setting. I personally like to sound out when I'm playing at a live concert so I don't use studio rings unless I'm in a small church or small area setting
@jsmooov88 You gotta love accidental stuff like that. I would guess that small splash was just too close to the tom and got in the way when he went to hit the tom. A placement thing to consider when setting up the set for a great effect no?
A small bit of tape will do. LOL. Dude already has Ebony Pinstripes! Those a really thick/Heavy heads, so they don't ring out too much. But maybe that was the sound the drummer was looking for that night or somethin'
LOL. Right. Only, I think its better for you to get new heads at different times. Get the Resonant Heads first, That way you have time for them to "Seat" on the drum. When you buy both Batter and Resonant heads at the same time, its harder to tune the drum.
Samething I just said lol it's probally the sound that drummers who were proforming were looking for even if it was me If I don't any gels or studio rings at a concert then tape would be the easy thing for me to get my hand on because sound men alway has it on them and it subsitute gels, rings etc. when you don't have them on you at that time
@adzug I play drums at my catholic church....im black....so we get down lol. We play contemporary music at our mass time. Earlier masses are the traditional ones.
because if you are playing in a musical it's a lot more about the singers and the ensemble as a whole...loud, ringing, drums just aren't the thing for that.
skeeter is so killin!!!!
the groove on the snare at the beginning is so beautiful...

Still jamming this in 2024!
By far, this is one of the hottest vidz I have eva seen Skeeter do.
The neo soul groove is smooth as glass ... you KNOW you are nodding your head right now. Don't even lie.
2022 vibes
Wow amazing the groove and the sister with the Afro
The first song is "Steal Away" and the second song is "All the Glory Belongs to You" both by Doobie Powell.

I have one question. Where were the crashes??
By the way, it would have been funny if Kevin had went for Making his Band. It wouldn't even have been fair to the other keyboardists.
LOL. Right. Only, I think its better for you to get new heads at different times. Get the Resonant Heads first, That way you have time for them to "Seat" on the drum. When you buy both Batter and Resonant heads at the same time, its harder to tune the drum.
"still away" from doobie's 4 zoe album
i jut dont understand the cymbal set up...
On which of Doobie's albums can I find this music of "awesomeness"?
Groove starting at 9:18 was pretty nice.
i hear u but it only works for this song. When they did "In Spite of it All" that song NEEDED a crash
@timmdogg06 and it sounds so wonderful

I get the Remo clear Pinstripe or remo clear heads they are really easy for me to tune and I don't have to worry about that crappy ring sound
yup
what kind of cymbal is that?? (the curved 1)
What kind of ride is that?
4 SHO!!!!!!!
@adzug I play drums at my catholic church....im black....so we get down lol. We play contemporary music at our mass time. Earlier masses are the traditional ones.

@drumz4dayz ITS CALLED REFLECTION AND LIGHT.....WHERE YOU BEEN IN THE DARK

Yeah, it's DEFINITELY not the Copeland Ride. It's the Paiste Signature Dark Metal Ride.
wats the deal with the crash?...or the lack thereof
TRI TONES!!!!
GOOD DRUMMING MY DUDE....
My cousins really don't be playing around
nice. looks like u guys need a new crash or is it made that way lol
yea, steal away.
Studio Rings are a bad idea in a live setting bro. I would personally go with the most open sound I can achieve...
9:24 SPANKIN
wassup wit his crash
6:04 - 6:32
wen the stik flys off at 9:41
that isnt the copeland ride it isnt blue enough to be
@fightlol4 Nope.
because if you are playing in a musical it's a lot more about the singers and the ensemble as a whole...loud, ringing, drums just aren't the thing for that.
It's suppost to damp the sound so it won't ring so much
that is not a crash
