- February 11, 2019 - They’re Playing Our Song celebrated a triumphant 40th anniversary in concert at the Music Box Theatre on February 11. Original Broadway stars Robert Klein and Lucie Arnaz recreated their performances to a huge ovation. Special thanks to the original ‘voices’ Debbie Gravitte and Hal Shane, along with cast members Ivy Austin, Housso Semon, Hugh Panaro and Andrew Fitch. The orchestra was conducted by original musical director Larry Blank and we salute director Chet Walker and the entire creative team led by our producer Tim Pinckney. Special guests in the audience included Producer Emmanuel Azenberg, Elaine Joyce Simon, Terre Hamlisch, original pianist Fran Liebergal and original publicist Bill Evans. Our thanks to executive producer Robert Greenblatt for initiating this very special project and to all those who supported The Actors Fund on this very special one-night-only event.

Just arrived from Buenos Aires, on a list and got a ticket the same day of the show! So happy to be there on such a special night! Wonderful to see the original cast!!! I love this musical!
Saw it on Broadway 1979. Fantastic
Waited for weeks to see this play and especially my favorite Robert Klein and was so excited. When we got to the theater Robert was not in it either anymore or that night. It was such a great show but I was disappointed. Lucy was super great but without Robert, it wasn't good for me.
I attended Lucie's final performance on Broadway. Robert Klein, who had previously left the production, was there that evening and sat right behind me.
oh my ,,, waited my whole life to see this show (professionally) any plans on releasing more video ?? would have made it to NY,,, if the event didnt sell out !! a desperate "there playing our song" FAN !!!
There will be a community theater production this year in glen cove long island Oct 24, 26 and 27

My dad took me god only knows how many times when the stage production ran in Australia! The musical ran for years out here! The music transports me to instant happiness!

I was fortunate enough to have caught the show with my high school drama group in Montreal. Never forgot the music, story or comedy.
I so wish I had seen this. At least there are some snippets
reminds me of those recreated photos people do years later... would be so great if there could be a spectacular medley show recreating the biggest hit songs with [some of the] the original/main actors. we pretty much missed it did the best of broadway but it would be great to see with who is left and maybe some more modern day but still historical shows like patti lupone in evita or maybe a number from annie or something. i wonder what shows/songs/actors that nostalgic showcase might include...
This was so much better than hearing Seth R. croak out this part with his grating style.
