It's actually true, just in Korean (the creator made it in English so people can understand). The beats make them understand when to sing and to keep up with the song and the song gets louder when there's fan chants (they can't hear it because fans are loud) and gets less louder when there's no chants
Let me correct you about the fanchants. IEMs are designed to be earplugs so the artist can hear themselves and nkt the screams. It is about them singing live or lipsync. Due to having to dance and sing at the same time, it would be hard for them to keep singing and breathe so the parts you hear that are 'Louder' is the backing track where the areas that are softer is them singing live. This essentially helps give the idols a bit of time to help that catch up on their breath.
@@katdaunicorn1052 Oh ok ty!
@@katdaunicorn1052 Like that means when the sound is 'Louder ' they are not singing live and when the sound is Low or you can say soft they are singing live . Well I'm confused that when the backing track is playing they are still moving their lips like.. ldk How can I make you understand bcz English isn't my first language so can you make it clear for me
@@shamimshahid2276 Its called lipsync alot of singers do it. Basically the singer is pretending to sing by saying the words with no sound.

Guys this helps artists A lot, because they know when they have to do moves and they more synchronized, it helps them
It doesn’t really help with knowing when to do moves since some are on off beats. So yes, it does help, but it helps with tempo
Definitely ni
It does help

FR, this helps the performers know whats going on
Honestly (as a dancer), I hope I could use this when I have to perform because sometimes (at some event) the speaker is not clear enough to catch up some small detail or the audience's cheer is too loud lol

Guys they hear that stuff in Korean ofc. But, the stadiums or concert halls are VERY loud so if they have to do a more synchronised or sophisticated step this helps them A LOT
took me few minutes to realise but the ear monitor are really a big help like to be in the sinc with the track, positioning and other like when the verses and chorus starts🧐🧐
But when they did the first move it was smooth it kinda scared me bcs they were so in sync lmfoao
To those who don't know why it goes from loud to quiet-
Everytime it's a new verse it is loud so that the idols could understand when they have to start and soon after it goes quiet because the idols are continuing to sing and all is ok .It goes loud everytime a new verse starts or ends, rest all the time it is normal.
I hope this helps☺️☺️☺️
Ouh that's why the vocals fades sometimes... Tq :D
I thought if it's loud then they sing live, and quiet means they are lipsyncing...
On Wonyoung's part, the beginning is not loud as you said
@@mridhomubaroq3058 that’s what the stage managers hear. we don’t really hear that if there’s a background track.
As a dancer it is super confusing for me. Like it would be more difficult to follow the rythm... as I rely more on music intensity than counts. But they are trained for it and they've practiced so it's all fine I guess. It still seems hard to me T.T
It's loud when the backing track is on and quieter when they are singing live (so they can hear themselves better on the other ear monitor)

as a performing musician myself - thats the best thing to help me on stage. some people in the comments saying its so annoying, but musicians from their first lesson in the life are learning how to use it and in general get used to it. i remember doing exercises for the metronome accuracy so many times when i just started. its actually SOSOSO satisfying to hear music hitting bpm like. 🥰🥰

the loud beat is actually really useful because as dancers we usually follow the beat instead of just listening to music
Yeah sometimes the dance has moves that follow the beats not the song
Depends. There are moves that follow the beat but there are also some that follow the music or the vocals. Most of the time it's a mixture, so just the beat wont get you far.

@disappointment3090 sry I didn’t know
That's not what they hear. Even if there was constant talking it would DEFINITELY be in Korean. And stuff like this is usually said into in ears of people working lights, fog machines and stuff like that for the stages.
Yeah its just so that non koreans understand it too 💀
Yea how do u know
How do you know, and how are you sure about that like was you a kpop idol
The counting is true, the beat is in one ear while the song is in the other so you can be sure you hit the note
Someone who worked with (I think it was Aespa) at a show confirmed that's how they work
The beat is exaggerated so they can dance and sing/lip synch on time. But any talking is made up in this video. And this ridiculous "chorus in 2,3" is not very helpful at all because it's not on beat and dancers count in 8. Ask any performer.
If you've ever been on a stage before, you'd know it can be difficult to hear anything clearly (for example with microphones, they sound very reverbed from the stage, and making out words can be a nightmare) without in-ears or stage monitor speakers (small speakers facing towards the stage/performers). This is because the sound is supposed to be heard by the audience, therefore aimed towards them.
This is why artists and bands use these to hear the music and themselves. In-ears also usually have a metronome (the constant ticking, to keep everyone in time) and/or a voice telling them which part of the song they're up to.
- also, the audience can be loud, therefore drowning out the music etc.
As a performer this is actually really helpful you know why? We've performed in stages without that thing and it's really hard to hear music when you're performing.
Y’all, this helps so artists won’t lose the track or miss a part and lyrics. It’s not about enjoying their song or anything, they’re working..
I don't see exactly why people call it useless and annoying? As someone who plays piano, the metronome is useful. It helps so the artist doesn't get lost with their notes throughout the songs.
Exactly. I'm in choir and a metronome is so helpful with notes
its the non-musician fans
this is literally so helpful for artists on the stage. I was once on a singing competition at my school and I could not hear myself or the music AT ALL. All i could hear was the crowd and the one I was dueting with. So I could barely hear if I was in tune or not and where in the song I was supposed to come in.
This is actually useful for idols, don’t say this is useless unless you’re an idol yourself.
You don’t even need to be an idol. Any musician would know metronomes are useful
@@TrusfratedJeonBooty7299Speaking facts
or just someone that does something related to music. Anyone who knows anything about performing would know how useful this is.
as a musician, the most useful part of having a metronome is hearing the down beat. i would assume the same for singers!
When a notification pops up while you're listening to songs
HELP
finally one that’s accurate. and yeah this is what an in-ear monitor would sound like, it would just be in korean for idols. so yes, this is what idols hear. for non-musicians / dancers or the people who’ve never performed or been involved with the production of performances like these lol
This is actually pretty accurate. The reason someone would need an in ear monitor is to hear the music, the tempo, and themselves.
“Why is the vocals going in and out it volume?”
-when the vocals are loud, they are singing live. When they are soft, they aren’t singing live
“Why would you need this?”
-it can be VERY loud at concerts to the point you can’t hear anything. Sometimes the speakers face away from the artists and instead face the audience. It also helps to keep their timing while singing/dancing and they can also hear their own voices. This makes sure that they are hitting the right notes
“Shouldn’t the artist just know the timing from hearing the music without the ticking?”
-the ticking helps to make sure the timing is right for them. It’s very easy to speed/slow down the tempo when you are stressed or nervous, and the ticking keeps it steady. Normally, to get the best timing with dancing you would actually count instead of just listening to the song to get the most accurate timing.
Why do i get anxious just by listening it... Seems like I'd b5in mess w sm1 gives me direction than doing everything by myself freely 😂
They wear this so that they can focus while performing because the screams of fans can make them forget their own line and it also helps them to guess when they have to sing as if they will see who is singing the people will say oo she is so unprofessional
I have huge respect for them performing like this
I almost got a head ache from the way the beat keeps knocking
not the non performers complaining 💀
Before yall say
How will they focus on the performance?
There is something called *training*
this literally helps them to focus on the performance
People who doesnt know why they need this probably never been on stage. Sht is a different world out there especially if there's a crowd, U wont be able to hear ur voice. There was one time that the stage only had 2 speakers and it was all facing to the audience, Gosh it felt like the area on stage only is on mute. U cant hear any sound that u produce.
Yes I had never thought so until it happened to me. It wasn’t even a big stage, just one for a school event. The screaming and cheering were so loud we could barely hear the music.
You don’t even have to be on stage to understand this concept. If you play any musical instrument (or just anything related to music) you’ll know that a metronome is a life saver
I can definitely see how it's helpful
I think that the studio music sound is so loud so that's why they wear the ear monitor my opinion
thats literally not what in-ear monitors are for lmao,,, the video is right. all artists hear that when performing to not miss cues and lose the beat.
Not exactly...they wear it so they can hear themselves singing and stay in tune. The in-ears also protect the ears from loud noises (fireworks ect). ^^
I said my opinion
@@MNEDITS41 Mine is not an opinion, it's a fact lol
@@MNEDITS41 bro that's not how it works 😭 you don't get to say an opinion on how something with a SET PURPOSE functions lol

This was actually so nice to listen to
finally one that isn’t off beat 😭😭😭
I believe treasure talked about this in a vlive and said that they were confused watching this type of videos because they don't have the beats or the talking in their in-ear monitors
this is more common in US
Can i have the link where Treasure talk about this?
Not everyone runs clicktrack or cues in their ears, it's personal preference. Generally speaking, the more complex a performance gets, the more info it helps to have in your ears, up to a certain point of course.
Rock band in ear mixes tend to be a little more interesting, since they usually bear almost no resemblance to what the audience hears. When I toured, my monitor mixes were extremely bass heavy, with only a little guitar and vocal, and no drums in the monitor since I was near the drums anyway.
I think other idols have said that they can adjust according the way they want to hear it. So in the end it depends on the idol/group
@@margarete5920 Yeah, they'll have a monitor engineer on tour with them, if they need more of someone else's vocal, less of a certain instrument, it can be adjusted on the fly.
i remember when I first saw this and was like ohhh that makes so much more sense, especially when artists gotta perform to a song with no musical cue/instrumental in the beginning. It always confused me how they all manage to know when to begin but this explains everything
Im not a dancer or musician but its pretty obvious how this helps them, it helps them stay on time and to hear the music.
As a dancer who as acted in multiple musicals and danced whilst having to sing in musical theatre I am pretty sure I’ve only used something like this once or twice and oh my god it is literally a life saver, it helps so much with keeping in tempo and hearing the music when there’s a loud ass crowd , if you say its useless you probably haven’t used it on stage , idol concerts can be VERY LOUD this tiny earpiece makes sure you cant hear the crowd as it is noice cancelling and wont stumble in the chorus because of the beats
Missing this era 🥺💗
Peole do realize that all singers do this especially in concerts...
yes but no one asked
@@jiazx is your user that?
Okay so, this is called a metronome and musicians and artists have this to stay on the same tempo. It’s to keep them in the same tempo and beat. The voice tells them when to come in and what point it is. One side of the ears that doesn’t have the mic is to cover their ears so they don’t have to hear the loud background music or it will potentially hurt their eardrums. Then the other side is what they sing through but so they could also hear the tempo and themselves. I don’t know which side those things I said goes through but either one holds an important purpose.
The constant ticks you hear are metronomes and they help artists stay on time
Ear monitor, is a piece that has only music. So they could know where to start singing or move. Some ear piece or ear monitor actually made artist cant concetrate due to the ear peice, are to high and off beat. That's why if you see some artist removing it, they've actually prefer the stage aound cause their ear piece is too loud or off beat. Only, you could hear the T.F would speak if unexpected events may actually added. Like poppings fire works etc.

Wouldn’t even be able to enjoy my own concert if that were me 💀 just play the song
(Edit since y’all keep thinking I mean they shouldn’t be wearing ear pieces? The instrumental with a metronome and some faint backing vocals would be fine… the talking just seems unnecessary and prolly hard to focus with it)
It helps a lot, their performance woudn't be so good without this! :DD
Not only kpop uses this it's everyone in the industry. It helps singers be guided in performing their songs especially when they are singing live.
It useful to sing on the stage so perfomer won't sing out of beat.
Yeah because fans be screaming
It helps a lot, especially the cues like 1,2,3,4 if youve been in band you will understand. it helps them catch the rhythm and beat of the song
It's almost like an internal metronome which is very helpful for any type of performer. It's better than what I had to do in marching band where I had to count in my head cause my blind ass couldn't see the drum major 💀
Yes! Im a dancer and wish we had something similar for dancers where I live. Sometimes the speakers mixed with the audience can be a bit disorienting. Like depending on where the speakers are positioned and how many there are, there is a slight delay TT it cam be hard to stay on perfect sync with the beat
Everyone: fighting wether this is true or not
Me: how dare you skip leeso’s iconic meme
the purpose of metronome in their ear piece is that so they won't get lost specifically the note they should be singing in and so they can comfortably sing sometimes you might not notice but background music (or band) can be so loud they can't blend in, ending in them singing so quiet and they don't really realize
That's why there remove there earpieces? When they want to hear there fans chant or want to hear there fans .
Sometimes they don’t like the volume that either their voice is in the in-ear (too soft, can’t stay in tune), or other voices, or even the backing track, and take it out to hear themselves better.
Not many people know the back track is to make sure the artist is at the right speed and line.
As a trainee we were trained to use these, not great quality ones bc they’re for debut artists. But they may seem useless to y’all listening, but when you’re performing it’s very useful!
I would have a panic attack 🗿
Everything gives you panic attack 😒
For people arguing about this, you really need to do some research. Artists on the stage can't hear the base as well as people on the crowd do, they need the timer to tell them what to do since it's hard for them to hear what is going on on the stage around them. Being a performer is harder than you think. The base also helps you sing, it's hard to do it when you can't hear your voice, you need something to follow to hit the right notes. And don't argue about 'it should be in Korean, not in English', you can't know that, but it's the general meaning. Everybody know what 'intro, 2,3,4' means and it's easier for everyone since English is an international language.
I love the metronome ugh it’s so helpful
Me as a dancer, this helps me be on beat. I mean non-singers and non-dancers will call this useless but it’s really helpful. You hear the sound(clicking noise) and you should hear your own voice. It’s goes of for you to sing and when you hear the chorus it’s loud because so you/the idol can either sing or lip-sync it. The metronome is important when singing and dancing. Yes you to hear the constant voice telling you to get in position and chorus is coming and break dance, but it’s in Korean and I’m sure for the English idols it’s in English, I’m not sure about that part though. I’m a full time dancer and I’ve danced and singed on stage so that’s how I know this stuff. The thing that’s in there ears is a IEM (in ear monitor). Not only does it helps them to be on time but it helps them do the counts for the dance. Even though there fans scream loud and so is the stage music is loud so the idols have to scream in order for their fans to hear to hear them.that’s why when idols sing live they have headphones and a mic because they hear the metronome! thank you and your welcome for this info!
Nice pfp

This really helps out in performances no matter the genre
Yeah this actually makes it a lot easier in grp dances
The intro is lowkey satisfying :/
This is actually very accurate, except for the talking. The artist normally only hears the music and the metronome. The talking is normally for the benefit of the people running lights, cameras, etc. So IVE themselves wouldn’t hear the “chorus 2 3 4” but they would hear everything else, which helps them stay on beat, synchronize with each other, and stay in tune with the music.
this helps like A LOT. It helps them keep track and when to know when to enter as well as how fast they should sing. Since there’s so much stuff happening at the same time such as dancing, fans, cameras, expressions, etc this lifts a weight off them. You can sort of think of it a director, keeps everyone on track and guides them.
Wow it helps in matching the lyrics- like i can hear the beat and i can imagine the minus one playing perfectly with the beats too- so the lyrics come naturally
this stage was legit screaming Versace
Tbh it's kinda catchy lol 💀
I didn't know this. I thought they were just earplugs to block out the loud noises of the concert.

Well as I used to cover songs and we also use in ears as we also sing live sometimes... Singers use in ears to stay on beat/basically a guide to not sing off tempo/outside the verse... But in those stages such as Music Core, Music Bank, M Countdown etc... The artist can choose to not wear in ears since the venue is smaller... If they performed on big stadium/stages... They need to wear it since it echoes and the music might get delayed which might cause the idols to sing faster or slower than the original tempo... The reason they slowed down the voices in the middle and increase the volume again if the verse in ending or starting... It is to guide the singer as they would know the first line and the last line of the verse... Basically the whole point is to let them know they sing on beat or correctly;)
If someone was to say a bunch of numbers while I was singing I would of forgot the Lyrics
I love how coordinated they are
I like how it highlights different parts of the song. Their music team is so good with beats and unique sounds. 11, Wave, and Either way good examples.

These in-ear monitors help so much! I was singing in the Easter choir at my church and the band and lead singers had these. They all were having problems with their ear monitors, which made them be late on a verse. As the choir, we were following their lead, so when the leafs got lost, we got lost. These truly do help singers and performers keep in time with the music.😊

all the people saying this is useless must not realize how loud crowds and other people who are being directed are. stages are so loud you can't even hear yourself scream let alone the music playing outloud, so performers wear in-ears bc they cancel noise and they can hear the background, guide vocals and counts, it's why you see so many idols looked shocked when they remove them bc it sm louder then expected its also why sm encore stages sound so different from regular stages usually idols can't hear themselves then and are just talking/ barely singing bc there's no form of correction. ( it's also why you see 1 or 2 idols in a group go off count it means someone's track or in ear is messed up and they are trying to track themselves or their music is moving too fast or slow bc in-ears are personalized usually to fit each performer different (some are louder some don't have a metronome some can't hear other memebers)
Tell me why this is satisfying for me?
Their vocals and visuals are so good. I love them 🤍
why is this so satisfying
How is it annoying? It sounds so cool lmao it obviously helps synchronization.
I wonder if they can hear this over screams in concerts and stuff
Yes they can!! Their ear piece are specifically made to deafen out your hearing so you can only hear the instrumentals and beats to count on when to start
I still remember my first live stage performance as a singer years back. We were low on budget & we didnot have any in ear monitor. 😢 It was so difficult for me to hear the live band behind playing with all the screams from the audience. I literally had to close my ears & somehow sing
With this I'll probably end up singing the entire song 😭
This looks so fun but a bit overwhelming!
I actually want the full version cuz this is very helpful

The reason why all kpop groups wear this is because fans might distract them with their noise and cheering ,ty :)
