bazaars in 17th century India were normally in the open air. a covered Bazaar altho of a design common to best Asia was an innovation in India. Shahjahan had about the arcade in is Farhan and it seems that the notion of a covered Bazaar stimulated to him by the one he saw in Peshawar in 1646. he instructed mukarma Khan who was supervising the construction of the Red fort to build a similar covered market there. Shahjahan was greatly impressed as it design was suitable for the hot climate of Delhi.
presently known as Shraddha Chowk Bazar or Meena Bazaar this Bazaar earlier was known as Bazar a Musaqqaf aur Satta Bazar aroof market. Lahori Gate entrance of the Red fort leads into the shadow of this covered market or vaulted arcade. Shahjahan was perhaps impaired by political reasons to position chata Bazar at the principal ceremonial entrance to the four as an appropriate place to exhibit the Mughal empires growing wealth talent and capabilities. 300 years ago this Bazaar scattered to the luxury trade of the imperial household specialised in exquisite carpets rugs jajams and shatranj velvet parda and chicks embroideries with Zari and brokers and a wide variety silks, woolens,velvets which Mughals used in their daily life precious stones exotic jewelries and indigenous ornaments gold and silver utensils fine wood and I were you work brass and copper wires find arms and armaments.
The Red fort is a historical fort in the city of Delhi in India. it was the main residence of the emperors of the Mughal dynasty for nearly 200 years until 1857 full stop it is located in the centre of Delhi and houses a number of museums. in addition to accommodating the emperors and their households it was the ceremonial and political centre of the Mughal state and the setting for events critically impacting the region.
constructed in 1639 by the fifth Mughal emperor Shahjahan as the palace of his 45 capital Shah Jahan Bagh the Red fort is name for its massive in closing walls of red sandstone and is adjacent to the older Shalimar Bagh fort built by Islam Shah Suri in 1546.
Every year on the independence day of India 15th August the prime minister hoists the Indian tricolor flag at the main gate of the Red fort and delivers are nationali broadcast speech from its ramparts.
it was designed UNESCO World Heritage site in 2007 as a part of the Red fort complex.
