Nice review..... Got the version with dedicated Nvidia card and SSD from Amazon. It's a beautiful and sturdy laptop, compared to my previous dell 5521 i7 laptop, the display of this is far better and superior. Sound quality is good. The bass and loudness fills my room. Ran pes 2016 effortlessly at maximum settings. Had an embedded fingerprint which is average at best. Have been so used to the bluish washed out display of my previous dell laptop that the white balance of this looks to be slightly on the warm side. I don't know if this is a con or pros. But in all the display is so good, even if you v very poor visual acuity , u can discern the superior difference between this and the Dell. In all, it's a great buy
hi , do you find yourself making the Acer R15 fold while it is still turned on ? .. just wondering if the HDD in it is still currently ok considering that you'd get the HDD encounter movements while folding the Acer r15 while it's still turned on
bro when u downloaded the new build of 15062, did u download it on windows 10 upgrade assistant app or the normal updater on settings? Also will the update delete any files? since only the windows 10 upgrade assistant app is giving me the upgrade but the regular settings updater isnt giving me the update for the build. please answer me
Is the laptop heavy and hard to carry? Also is the trackpad in the way of the space bar bcuz i play like games where you need the space bar so I usually rest my and and if the trackpad is in the way then i cant click the space bar
I found an Acer Aspire R5 on Ebay. The seller wrote that it has a problem with the battery, which makes the screen go black. I found 2 websites that describe this battery problem, and they both have a list of fixes, which include updating the bios. I figure I can fix it, and it's an auction, ending in 5 days. And I like to tinker and solve problems. It's worth trying. Fun fact: I just checked Ebay for batteries for the Acer Aspire R5. The lowest priced battery is only $16.49, including postage!

hi , would just like to ask , your Acer R15 originally came with a regular HDD .. i was just curious as to why Acer would release a foldable laptop with a regular HDD .. isnt it that regular HDD should not be moved around because of the risk that the drive will be destroyed ( because of its moving parts ) .. can you enlighten me on this .. i mean is it really okay to fold the Acer R15 while it is powered on if it has a regular HDD ? , thanks
The HDD in the laptop is a Western Digital WD10SPCX amzn.to/2pGbRVv which has "Shock Guard" technology. Why they put an HDD instead of SSD is because its cheaper and their Target Buyer for this laptop is the Lower End of the Price Point. Like everything, people have to make tradeoffs, both consumer and manufacturer. The HDD has very good ratings on Amazon, so I imagine its self labelled "Rugged and Reliable" seems somewhat true. But at the end of the day, people should know for themselves, that they are getting what they paid for. And for this price point the buyer is willing to live with less data security based on an HDD vs SSD.

those are lots of choices, most of what you list are 13.3" while the R15 is 15.6", so there are trade offs, like 3.7 lbs vs 4.8 lbs weight in portability. Also, for the 13.3" you may want full HD, which is 1920x1080, not all 13.3" are full HD resolution. However because its 13.3", the items on the screen are tiny, some people think its too small. Also some of what you list is not in the same Price Class, they are $700+ while this R15 is around $510 or so. In the end its really about the trade offs between portability and power and price. Which for my personal needs I bought this one. Asus is notorious for hinges snapping and asus not covering it after warrrenty. I was looking at the sake computer and after digging I found the trouble wasn't worth it
Greydrops isn't the Dell 13 7000 a 13.3" screen and no number pad instead of 15.6" and over $1000, this Acer is roughly $500 in comparison. Build Quality pretty nice for the money, good value
What type of graphic design, PhotoShop, Illustrator? Generally, this will run those easily, its just that initially loading the programs may take 45 seconds, because its not SSD. But it will work fine for Graphic Design and even video editing. I do that on this laptop too.

The specs are similar, I looked at a review on Computer Shopper and it says the Spin 3 is plastic housing instead of the metal for the R5 I have above. The i7-6500U has the same benchmark as the i5-7200U from above, but the i5-7200U is more energy efficient meaning longer battery life. The 12GB is fine vs 8GB, but both has the slow 1TB drive unless you are going to upgrade it to SSD. Spin 3 has the IPS screen vs LED, but I my above has a better true color match. I'd go with the one I have above which goes for $430 at NewEgg right now bit.ly/2r0jJCA which is the one I got refurbished, but I got mine for $446.

Everything is like new. I've bought about 10 refurbed laptops for my family over the past 10 yrs, they always look new, and if they don't I return it for one that does. I actually got 2 of these on NewEgg, one for myself and one for my brother, got the first one, it looked new, then couple of days later I ordered a 2nd one.

It will be slow for CAD because it does not have a dedicated Video Card for the 3D rendering.

The body looks almost like my Dell 13 Inspiron 7000 - even down to the ports n CPU fan placement. the only diff is the rounded corners on the Acer
