Years late again, more than 5 years after you posted this (now Sep 2022), but not never - except never again will I say that piano classic is boring. Wow, Kara. Words just cannot express how I feel watching and listening to you play this. Thank you.
Well, now I have a new favorite video of this channel. My girlfriend and I danced to it, and I thank you for making it. It inspired us to get up and do something we hadn't done in ages. How you played the piece a little slower than how many others play it made it feel more romantic and good for a waltz.
That's sooo adorable hahah I would've loved to see that XD These days everything seems too fast doesn't it? People don't like to take the time to stop and smell the roses. Well, if I knew someone was going to dance to my recording, I may have recorded it a bit different, at a steadier speed, but I'm glad it still worked out hahaha!
My favorite game of all time is Chrono Trigger. That sent me to your channel. I subscribed and began browsing your videos. I find myself now listening you perform a piece by my favorite composer of all time. Good taste, beautiful work, wonderful channel!
i was really excited to listen to this one. i’m one of the many who calls this their favorite. i find there’s a bittersweetness to it, a lost soul waltzing its way on a rainy, dimly-lit street towards death. the brightness with which you play it (as you explained why) took me a minute to get used to, but I enjoy your playing so much that it didn’t bother me one bit. thanks for sharing.
th-cam.com/video/HYOMXc2Zlok/w-d-xo.html That's my favorite nocturne- and favorite piece- of all time. My piano is a bit brighter than most Steinways too, but I like that quality. In fact they say Chopin's piano was extremely clunky- hardly what we would imagine it to be! But I'm sure he still got some amazing sound from it :)
So beautiful! I haven't heard this upload of yours yet. The best interpretation, even among the great pianists. I'm really curious to hear more of your interpretations of the romantics.
Thank you! I hope so too, I need to starting upping it a notch and getting more involved with TH-cam and social media. Just the small community I have has made me super happy, so sometimes I get satisfied with that and don't have that incentive to go the next step!
Came for the gorgeous covers of Final Fantasy music and ending up checking out the rest of your channel. I immediately subscribed. I have always loved Chopin and this piece in particular. Your performance of it (and everything on this channel) is fantastic. Thanks for putting such lovely videos on TH-cam for everyone to enjoy.
This is a beautiful piece, no doubt, but for those who are not much familiar with Chopin's music i encourage to look a little deeper and you can find real gems. Great job Kara:))
You totally sound like a teacher. Just love your absolute ease of control. Still waiting for your complete recording of Chopin to happen. I'll be the first one to purchase 10.
Hi Kara 😁!! I had never ever watched a Chopin piano video until the end 🤤😴😴! 😂😂 but This one was so amazing! I really really enjoyed that!! 😍😍😍 thanks for such relaxing and lovely pieces!!!
Lol I totally get you, some of us hear Chopin so often that we get sick of hearing the same old pieces LOL but I'm so glad you liked this and watched all the way through! Hugs!
beautiful. that was very well done. love the slow emotional pace and feeling you put into it. I'd love to hear you do more chopin nocturnes, as they are my absolute favorite. nothing like a weekend with chopin, a book, rain in the background, and coffee. which nocturne is your favorite? oh and i didn't think you were shaky at all. =)
Damn I'm late:(. My favorite piano piece of Chopin and as usual an outstanding performance! I'm looking forward to playing this piece myself. 'Till next week with another great song
nice playing, I agree, it's pretty but not his finest, as far as Chopin's music, I love his cello sonata and his piano trio the most. The mazurkas for solo stuffy, they're spicier. You have nice projecting lines throughout your playing here, spot on and good job controlling the texture. For some off the beaten path listening, you might try to listen to some of Ludovic Lamothe's piano music, considered the 'Chopin of the Caribbean" he is Haiti's most important and 'famous' classical tradition composer, though he is mostly forgotten now, i just got a bunch of his scores recently, really cool stuff to explore there. great playing again, enjoyed listening to this :-]
Wow that's awesome, I've never heard of this composer. But It always amazes me how many obscure composers there are out there that we don't know of. Even some film composers that I've listened to are fantastic, but never really made a great name. I agree, this is not Chopin's best, but it's amazing how even the smallest of themes written by him are magical in one way or another.
Wow, I've heard many renditions of this particular tune, and this has to be one of the best if not the best I've heard! Chopin is my favorite pianist, and this is probably my favorite tune by him in addition to the Minute Waltz, and it's one of my favorite piano tunes in general. Debussy's "Claire de Lune" is probably in my top 5 as well. Moonlight Sonata, Turkish March, there are so many! Have you played those?
That's so encouraging, thank you!! I love al of those themes you mentioned. If you're not following me on Instagram, you must! I post lots more classical themes like those on IG. (@scarlet.pianist) :)
Trilling with 2 and 4 is like.....my FAVORITE thing to do on the piano LOL XD I love the feeling of it and I feel I have better control with those two fingers. It doesn't work for every kind of trill, but it did the job on these! :D
Actually maybe the reason I find it's better is because fingers 2 and 4 are closer to the same length (as opposed to 2 and 3), so I can get a more even sound :)
You're welcome, and thank you for watching! I like to play Chopin very rhythmically. He was an early romantic, his music came close behind composers like Mozart and Haydn, and I think he learned a lot from them. There are places to take more time of course, and rubato is always present in one way or another, but the steadiness aspect is also extremely important :)
Really beautiful, Kara. I know it's played all over the place but it's still a really pretty nocturne. I think you captured the bel canto style that is like... necessary to play Chopin. Really beautiful singing tone. By the way, what was shaky about your run? I didn't actually notice. Was it because it wasn't 100% in tempo? I thought you played like... super crisp. Crispier than uhhh... bread. Crispy bread. Yeah. Also, your grace notes at the end were actually amazing. Pssst, you should play C minor (the first one in opus 48, not the posthumous one) some time. I mean, actually you should play whatever you want. :P ANYWAY, straight FIRE, Kara, nice job. All the thumbs up.
Thank you so much :) I think the only kind of Chopin I don't like hearing is someone who puts no feeling into it. Everyone's feelings may come out differently, but as long as there is feeling, it's beautiful to me. And I think that's what Chopin would have wanted.
Another wonderful performance, it fulfilled its purpose for being relaxing and peaceful! I agree with your thinking about it being more mozart style, I am also playing this piece and I've done a recording and I've noticed that my left hand is very mechanical but when I listen by ear I can't hear that? Any advice on how to fix that? Thanks, once again - Doris
Thank you Doris! I checked your page and didn't see a recording of it, perhaps you uploaded it elsewhere? You have to know the chords VERY well in the left hand. If you're focusing too much on the notes of the chords (which are difficult!) then everything may sound mechanical. You want the left hand to be secondary to the right hand, which is also difficult because there are so many more notes in the left hand than the right. Think of the right hand as the "mama" and the left as the "children". Mama has to keep the children under control or things will be hectic! :D
Bahaha thanks, I was informed by more than just you that I had made a mistake, I just fixed it XD and thank you, i just had to make a recording of this classic! :)
That's a great one! I would love to cover all the super famous classical pieces, because I know how much everyone loves them. One step at a time, I hope to get to it in the future!! :)
Hi Kara If you already played that piece i sent you why didn't you say so? Here are your Final Round Scores Hand Movement: 50/50 No Mistakes: 50/50 Using Sheet Music: 25/50 How well you Played: 50/50 Posture: 50/50 Total: 200/250 Note I had to take off points since you probably used sheet music Other than That PM Me for completion Prizes!
I'm actually not too far from Montreal myself- I live in New Hampshire! We are in EST, i don't know how that relates to UTC but I imagine it's not that much different :O
Years late again, more than 5 years after you posted this (now Sep 2022), but not never - except never again will I say that piano classic is boring. Wow, Kara. Words just cannot express how I feel watching and listening to you play this. Thank you.
That’s okay, I love when people go back to old videos!! Even though I definitely think I play it better now than I used to 😂
Something about hearing Chopins compositions always seems to clear my head, excellent playing.
Thank you Michael!!
This is my favourite piece from Chopin, bravo!
Well, now I have a new favorite video of this channel. My girlfriend and I danced to it, and I thank you for making it. It inspired us to get up and do something we hadn't done in ages. I can fall asleep to this piece, and I love the iv to I cadence around 3:19 and at 3:51. In general, I love iv to I. It just sounds so peaceful.
My favorite game of all time is Chrono Trigger. That sent me to your channel. I subscribed and began browsing your videos. I find myself now listening you perform a piece by my favorite composer of all time. Good taste, beautiful work, wonderful channel!

which nocturne is your favorite, then!?
th-cam.com/video/HYOMXc2Zlok/w-d-xo.html That's my favorite nocturne- and favorite piece- of all time.

Hearing, practicing, and playing this piece usually make me anxious; your recording reminds me it's not necessary to rush. Very nice!
Very Nice i love it you playing and adding your feeling to the tune .
I love this melody so much. Thank you Kara, I love you for being so awesome !!!
This song...always about past friends.
So beautiful! I haven't heard this upload of yours yet. The best interpretation, even among the great pianists. I'm really curious to hear more of your interpretations of the romantics.
Every video you post reminds me why I'm subscribed to you!
Aw thank you Avery!! I'm glad you are sticking around
Such lovely piano playing, definitely deserves the subs.
I hope your channel grows more, Kara!
Thank you! I hope so too, I need to starting upping it a notch and getting more involved with TH-cam and social media. Just the small community I have has made me super happy, so sometimes I get satisfied with that and don't have that incentive to go the next step!
Love this melody🤗
I just found this channel and there's so much good content! I've like 12 tabs open for all your videos so I remember to watch them xD
This is so great!! The song brings back a lot of memories. Nice work as always
Would love to hear your version Jason!

Beautiful!!!
Beautiful as always :)
This is a beautiful piece, no doubt, but for those who are not much familiar with Chopin's music i encourage to look a little deeper and you can find real gems. Great job Kara:))
I agree! This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the great music of Chopin! Thank you again Martin :)
You totally sound like a teacher. Just love your absolute ease of control. Still waiting for your complete recording of Chopin to happen. I'll be the first one to purchase 10.
Hahahah you might be waiting a long while for the complete Chopin XD but there are so many that I love to play, hopefully more will be coming soon!
Beautiful!
FF brought me here and I had to stop to listen to one of my favorite pieces for piano. Great job, play always with heart.
Wow superb performance
Beautifully played! best Chopin tune IMO :)
Hi Kara 😁!! I had never ever watched a Chopin piano video until the end 🤤😴😴! 😂😂 but This one was so amazing! I really really enjoyed that!! 😍😍😍 thanks for such relaxing and lovely pieces!!!

Lovely playing! My favorite Chopin nocturne is the Bflat Minor.
Thank you so much! Oh me too, I love that one. I did a 60 second clip on my Instagram account of that one :)
Awesome job Kara! :)
A romantic like me truly loves this rendition
You have it! The emotion. Finally this song wrecks me.

Good luck to you and working on this piece, I hope you also take some time to record it. And please let me know when you do!
Kara Comparetto well thank you. I hope you like to wait because this will take a very long time. Perhaps in a year or two
Thank you for your video! What a pleasure to watch you playing the piano. In love😍😍😍👍
Oh thank you!! :D makes me happy to hear that, I'm so glad you loved it!
I was excited to hear this music from you.

Must be difficult to pace this one huh? Always a pleasure watching you thanks for the vid Kara

Wow.
Well done! This is really a classic! By the way, there is a typo in the title. I don't think Chopin had an opus 90! :D
Bahaha thanks, I was informed by more than just you that I had made a mistake, I just fixed it XD and thank you, i just had to make a recording of this classic! :)
Great pianist...
Kara, was there a snare drum in the room? I can hear a vibration separate of the piano.

So nice.....
