The first minute and the last minute of this album are both sheer musical euphoria, and to this day they keep me coming back. That F#5 is still my favourite Josh Ramsay vocal ever. It’s just as desperate and impassioned as the best moments from Welcome to the Black Parade, and the lyrical conceit really makes it feel like the end of a journey.
I may have discovered Masterpiece Theater III from The Five Giants warriors map but I’ve fallen in love with this song just by itself too. It has so many emotions and intensities in it. It’s amazing
The change from “I could wreck it if I had to, but I’m the wreck so what would that do?” in Masterpiece Theatre I, to “I’ll wreck this if I have to, tell me what good would that do?” in Masterpiece Theatre III feels like the singer/“protagonist”’s decent into mental turmoil as the album goes on. The beginning feels whole and generally happy, whereas the end feels chaotic and somewhat desperate, along with the slight feeling of tiredness as it goes on, like its taking more effort to stay sane and put up the familiar theatric front. This is just my interpretation, but I find this aspect to be important to me anyhow.
I love how Masterpiece 1 starts out with a "Bohemian Rhaspody" / "Because" combo, gets very "Good Vibrations" in the middle and ends with a mirror of "Astoria". I think it's genius that they can make you instantly think of songs you grew up with by using similar harmony arrangements but make it completely original and new all at the same time. They did that all through the Astoria album too and it's just fantastic! These guys are so brilliant. Like really.
I love how this tells a story. It's amazing how each piece molds perfectly into the next part creating an amazing longer song, yet they're all complete sounding as well separate. Honestly an incredible composition.
This is why I ADORE this band. Their albums --Masterpiece Theater, Ever After, Phantoms-- all tell a story from start to finish and it's the most clever and beautiful thing that's ever been created.
I can never listen to this without shedding at least a single tear. These guys music kept me alive when I was a teenager. Going back and listening to this as an adult is just so surreal because I never thought I would make it this far.
Love this form of artistry. Literally a masterpiece. A new age style take on Bohemian Rhapsody with their vocal, orchestration and key changes. I feel Freddy Mercury would be proud and a fan. Just imagining a collaboration between the two is a gift the world will forever be deprived of. This band is what music is about. Pure artistry and talent, meaningful lyrics and ability to convey and envoke emotion.
I love how each one fits together to create one big ‘masterpiece’ It’s truly an amazing piece of music and I love listening to it. Also…. Gather round WC gang if you found this song because of the Five Giants map. I know you’re out there.
Im here. You think that there can be a map of this whole video where part III is Warriors, part II is Wings of Fire, and part III is a crossover of both series because I’d love to see that like-
I didn't come here directly from five giants, spotify recommended the song to me, but I knew that I remembered it from somewhere and I recently figured it out lmao
This may be my favorite songs , it’s so powerful and somehow they mix multiple music genres in them while still keeping them smooth and consistent. They give fall out boy vibes but a large flare aswell. I love these 3 songs with all my heart (the reason I found them is because of five giants)
When it comes to Marianas Trench, yes I'm a little biased because I've been a massive fan since day one but no one can tell me otherwise that these three songs are not the perfect pieces of music. They'd be wrong because these are literally *ahem* masterful 😅 I'm listening to them on full blast in a drug induced stupor (cold meds folks, nothing illegal) and I am just flying right now. Love this band and their immense musical talents 😍😍
LadyBug Cat Acadia was a territory in Canada made by the French settlers that was later taken over by the British when they divided the country into provinces. It’s also a song in their masterpiece theatre album
For anyone who haven’t listened to the whole album, there’s parts of these 3 songs from the other songs on the album. Masterpiece theatre 1 is at the beginning, the 2nd in the middle, and 3rd at the end. My favourite album of all time.
Also... is there no one else whose favorite part is part 2? I feel pretty alone on that front. I mean, not so much the small pop section in the middle, but the acapella blended with it and the driving drums and strings underneath and just AHSFJJk--.... that octave slide just under the "first it comes on, creeping quiet". Glorious. And then the soft choral rise after that! And the absolutely gorgeous calm chorus under the semi-frantic and purely powerful vocals over top. I can not get enough of these songs...
Part 2 has more of a feel of 'Building' there. You can feel and hear the rise and know something is coming. It's the anticipation and the melodies that grab me. Love this song and wish more bands would make quality music like this.
Part 2 is my fave one out of all 3!!!!! God my comment is 2 years late but I'm just happy to see this comment. The way the song builds up, the anticipation, like it's so good.
I've gotten so caught up in my fictional worlds and characters that I'm beginning to forget who I am... not being able to be a part of the world I've created is tearing me apart- I've began hiding behind my roleplays, my characters- wishing that I could be her, that her life was really mine... but she's just a part I portray.
I just always end up back here. It's been years yet here I am. This album speaks to me. This band speaks to me. We share many similar experiences. It's nice to relate sometimes.
EPIC!!! I've listened to all their albums and Masterpiece Theatre is still my favourite! (next to Ever After, Astoria and Fix Me). The harmonies, lyrics, production, vocals...ON POINT!!!
I dont know much about Music and I have to admit, I prefer rock Music, but marianas trench is just beautiful. The voice, the melody and the chord. Its just made up perfect. Still, could someone please explain to me, what this three Songs are about? I'm sorry that I Need your help for that, but please. I want to understand them
jackiejw45 Here is how I interpret it, which is just me. I am sure everyone interprets it very differently as it is very esoteric in nature: As far as I can see the first one part is the voice in his head predicting how this relationship is going to play out because he knows well how he has behaved in the past. "If I burn out and slip away, this is just a part I portray" - To say that he will act uninterested but he isn't really uninterested in the relationship and its an act he performs in response to an uncomfortable situation (maybe feeling like he is not the dominant force in the relationship) and so he pulls away to get the upper hand and throw his partner out of confidence. "I'll wreck this if I have to, but I'm a wreck so what would that do" - Tells us that he has done this before, its a double meaning of word wreck, In the first sense I could wreck it as "Do a great job at it", but in the second part he's honest in saying that he's really an emotional mess, so what's the point of winning this emotional warfare through the act he puts on.I believe the songs in the album are supposed to reflect the progression of his relationships and some of his experiences. We come to the second part where we see he is in the middle of this relationship ("... in this masterpiece I"ve made...") struggling with his "habits" and wanting to change his ways and salvage this relationship but he can't overcome these bad relationship habits. He recognizes they are his own fault as he said in the first part - "Entirely guilty by design". He explains that his relationships end up becoming a series of repeated actions that he doesn't really notice until its too late. "First it comes on creeping, quiet..." - he starts his retreating actions in small ways. We see his regret in the line "Can I hide in you instead?" but he can't because this is a submissive action and I am sure something about this relationship is preventing him from really being himself (maybe she prefers super alpha males and that's just not him). So he feels trapped in that he must behave this way to maintain the upper hand and all he really wants to do is be honest. The third part he has come to realization that he must confront this problem he has "I have a new disease in me..." and the song is a portrayal of the struggle where he bounces back and forth between reasons to stop the act, but he's so comfortable in it that its going to take him overcoming a part of himself. We see this in the drastic dynamic shifts in the tone and style of the music and the new dialogues whereas a lot of the first two songs were composed of repetitions. He pulls in quotes from the previous songs to point out reflection to events in the pass that he is trying to logic through and change his ways. Its hard to explain because the detail of the story that this song puts in my head is so deep, but this is a snapshot. I love songs like this that really churn the gears in my head and make me try to analyze what compelled the artist to write the lyrics and structure the intonations in the way they did. It is indeed a masterpiece that unfortunately most people won't appreciate just because of the style. Music at its best.

+jackiejw45 This is an older message, but some stuff - about the musical side of things. It comes across as a concept album, but apparently the three parts were all different versions written at different times - it wasn't designed as a whole. One of the things that I love about it is the bits of most of the other songs that have been stolen, and changed a tad but incorporated - Look around round" coming from Celebrity status as are "all the words to impress shiny girls out of their dresses..." I heard part 3 first and just listened to it over and over and over - and no matter what, I could not get sick of it. The vocal texture is so rich and theatrical.I'll leave the interpretation of the substance to others/\...
This is one of my favorite series of music here, which my daughter introduced to me through Warrior Cats lol... but I think it is perfection. I hope she and I get to see it sometime, but until then we always have this
In the beginning, his voice just reminded me of Freddie Mercury. And honestly, I'm all in with it! I've started to listen about a year ago, and honestly, I love all the songs I've come to listen to.
+Andrew Papucci Yeah - obviously - AT the time it was released I touted this album as being the best since "A night at the opera". I saw them live with my kids at the time (my kids turned me on to them) - and they just can't do it justice live - but Josh Ramsay is a really gifted studio musician (like Freddie was at the time). I find MT relatively simplistic musically by comparison to the schooling of all the Queen members - but creatively brilliant. Wish they'd put out another album.

This really is such a masterpiece, so beautiful.... Personally, III is my favorite part! Speaking of that, does anyone get Welcome To The Black Parade vibes at the end?
The intro sounds so much like the beginning of Genesis from Razia's Shadow, it surprises me to not hear it play X-D I love these songs so much, the sounds and lyrics are incredible! :-)
Whenever I listen to this song, my mom goes on and on about how it's a total Queen ripoff, lol. I agree with her, but I love this trilogy wayyy too much to care ^_^
I mean absolutely no negativity here, but Queen SO did not invent this genre, only became the face of it. This is definitely a sound different from Queen. You can hear MT's personal touch on it. I agree that it does sound like Queen's music, that was one of my first thoughts when I first listened to this, but it's not a ripoff at all. :)
+Cai Kohler That's what I explained to her recently, after finding out about all the rock operas that Green Day/The Who/etc. also wrote of their own accord. Jamsay did say himself that it was heavily based on the Bohemian Rhapsody, though now that I'm more familiar with both songs, I totally agree with you.
The beginning sounds like Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody. The end sounds like The Black Parade. A beautiful combination.
Mmmm FUCK YES MT CHEMICALE ROMANCE IS MAKING PEOPLE JOIN THE BLACK PARADE. but the black parade is dead now...
The first minute and the last minute of this album are both sheer musical euphoria, and to this day they keep me coming back.

Lilly Thompson okay thanks
+Toni “Blade” Turtl No problem!
This really is such a masterpiece, so beautiful.... Personally, III is my favorite part! Speaking of that, does anyone get Welcome To The Black Parade vibes at the end?
I guess this is technically their magnum opus in'it?
I was up since 5:33 listening to these songs lol
Still listening! Anyone else? :) 2021 may
2024. October. ❤
It's not a masterpiece without you
We gonna make it
Part one is my second favorite song X3 my first fave is part 3
The intro sounds so much like the beginning of Genesis from Razia's Shadow, it surprises me to not hear it play X-D
I love these songs so much, the sounds and lyrics are incredible! :-)
Musical PERFECTION
For some reason, when ever it says "all of this excess" I always hear "all of this incest"...Help me.
That's what I always hear too! until I saw a lyrics video I thought it was incest
SAME
YOU ARE NOT ALONE! XD LMAO! I couldn't figure out that part for the longest and was so confused! XD
BAHAHAHA
And E I HEAR THAT TOO! Halp XD
Funny how the songs are split up across the album.
Yeah... They go together like freakin' bread, jam, and butter.
