    I love that no one, and I mean NO ONE, can demonstrate a 303 or TD-3 without having a quick nob twiddle :D
    Thanks for the tutorial :D

    You’re a life saver. As an absolute beginner to analogue music machines and midi, i was finally able to sync these two machine together. Cant believe noone else online was able to clearly walk me through like you did.

    Thank you so much for this video! I am not a professional musician/composer, just a home guy who has been into goa/psy trance for the last 20 years or so. Have always wanted a TB-303, and now I have the TD-3 to play with! Had it for about a week, very new to it, and your video here showed me two things that were really important to me..... changing keys, and copy/pasting patterns! Knowing even just those two things is opening up my mind to what I can do with my TD-3, now I just have to quit work so I have time to do them!!!!

    Awesome little video. I've been playing with this TD-3 off and on for a couple weeks and it's like dragging my knuckles across a cheese grater....but your video clarified a lot of things and made me decide against selling this thing.
    Kudos!

    I have the TD-3 and love it. I use a cheap Behringer delay pedal. I just got a used TR-8 because it has both a 808 and 909. Could not afford both of the upcoming Behringer analog versions. This video is super helpful. I'm new to side chaining.

Now it resonate as an introduction to modular world with all those crazy interactions ! Thanks a lot bro 😜 Other tips like that would be over appreciated !!!

    Weirdly the clear start / clear / start method doesn't work when the clock source is set to MIDI. Only seems to work with internal (but you can still press clear + pattern number)

  • @jonathanulery1610
    @jonathanulery1610 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It also works if you switch from internal clock to trigger I have my volca sample2 sending clock to my td3

    • @jamesadley925
      @jamesadley925 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have been thinking of doing this! The volca only has a midi in though, is it a easy setup?

    • @jonathanulery1610
      @jonathanulery1610 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @James Adley easiest if done with the editor without it I don't even know how to do it without as far as going from internal clock to trigger but I know it can be done I run sync ou5 of the volca to trigger in you will have to power up your volca for the td3 to play

    • @jonathanulery1610
      @jonathanulery1610 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @James Adley I suppose the 1 complaint I have with the Td3 is the tempo has no value displayed I hate ha4dware that doesn't have that it's almost a deal breaker

  • @dylansherrick1035
    @dylansherrick1035 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'm getting a bit frustrated. I add the notes, and they play perfectly, but when I add the rests, the entire sequence just plays 1 note, as if disregarding what I put down in pitch mode.

    How long is the oscillator gate open (what percent of a 16th note) on that machine on a whole step and how long on a half step? Thanks in advance for answers!

    • @303Guy
      @303Guy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure really it's whole steps 100% and half steps so, 50% . There is a decay parameter so you can adjust.

  • @britishfireworks
    @britishfireworks 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thank you so much needed this! When you adjust the tempo on the TD-3 will the tempo on the TR-8 adjust to or Vice versa?

    • @303Guy
      @303Guy  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Only the tempo on the tr8 will work as it’s is the master

    Back in the days people used to remove the batteries to create random patterns, i have been told that some made whole records like that.

    • @303Guy
      @303Guy  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Really 😂. It’s fitting that something as random as that generates random patterns

    I just connected the alesis sr16 drum machine via midi with the TD3 but i noticed that there is a bit of latency by the TD3. Is there a solution for this problem? The alesis sr16 drum machine doesn't have sync output. Thanks

    • @303Guy
      @303Guy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Have you set the td3 to midi mode are you sending on the correct midi channel shouldn't be latency when using midi I always have a rock solid sync even when I daisy chain midi through 3-4 synths

  • @cytocache1238

    Do the rest and tie steps cut off the last notes programmed in the pitch mode?

  • @barneysgonnafindyou2
    @barneysgonnafindyou2 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have the midi going out from the tr 6s going into the td 3 and I set the sync to midi but it's not playing, even after following the manual several times. Am I missing something?
    Does the stereo output cable have to be shared with both the tr6s and the tds? Like one is right and the other left?

    • @303Guy
      @303Guy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Maybe check the midi output channel of the tr6 and the midi input channel of the td3 the should be the same see if you are sending a clock out and use the midi thru to midi in

  • @xisotopex
    @xisotopex 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    does the tr8s handle audio the same way as the tr8?

    • @303Guy
      @303Guy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The sidechain is a little easier on the TR8 I find. You can route the audio on allright and you have way more out puts. Tr8s is a great machine but the menu diving is so convoluted. However Roland just released a software editor which really opens up the machine. I enjoyed the tr8 as it was limited and you knew what you had to work with and could masters it easier. The tr8s the possibilities are endless

    • @303Guy
      @303Guy  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You have probably only set the pattern to twelve steps to try connect it to the software synth tool and change the pattern from the sequencer
