Now I am retired , old, a multi millionaire. I have acquired an obscene monstrosity of material things. I always acted ethically. I sought the wrong goal. I feel a bit guilty about it. Now I believe a better goal is to simply endeavor to be kind to all things. Help relieve the mountain of suffering that plagues mankind. Now my motto which I repeat to myself everyday several times a day is: " BE YOUR BEST: BE KIND" I would have been better off if I had set that as my goal fifty years ago rather than accumulating a pile of useless material junk.
People who have been blessed with money and a good heart should give back to humanity. Money isn't a waist of time its one of the best ways to bless others and experience the full physical aspects of a mortal life. Money is the physical embodiment of your energy never feel bad about have lots of money. Just make sure you focus that energy to better yourself and others. It doesn't matter where you give as long as you give from your heart. There are times I give to my own church which is maybe 5% of the time, all the rest is is other places. It is better to ask where you should give, listen to the still small voice and just do it without thinking anything about it, let the thought go and move forward. Having a negative attitude about giving to a church is the wrong position of the heart, it pinches off your supply of abundance Self inflicted wound.
