I thought the NFL _had_ started using them, then their AI rebelled & that's why they were flying all over Jersey. Jersey? Maybe AI isn't as dangerous or smart as we thought.
I went to the Wisconsin Badgers opener at Camp Randall this past season. There were two drones that hovered just outside the stadium (roughly 30-50 yards beyond the structure and maybe 50-75 feet higher than the last row of seats) pretty much the entire game. They would have had a great line of sight to the entire field and the home sideline.
I can understand not using drones but I always thought RFID chips in the balls (or something of the sort which would eventually evolve to include ball statistics like speed and distance) would make sense to eliminate the human element from ball placement and forward progress. If this program started, say, in the 90s, imagine how cool and advanced it would be by this point.
I mean I have a mavic mini which is so lightweight it’s able to skirt FAA guidelines a bit. It’s only a matter of time before they make drones that completely avoid regulations
This is just my amateur opinion, but what if someone developed a drone with a parachute tied to an automatic activation device? So, if the drone ceases function for whatever reason, the parachute is automatically deployed to prevent/mitigate the "crashing" issue. And once a drone is logged as going offline/deploying the chute, a control room in the stadium can hail security so that the nearest officer can recover it.
I got free tickets to the first USFL championship game. Drones were in use the entire game. I've never watched the broadcast and have no idea how much of the footage was used but they were very annoying to the live audience.
Another reason why they won’t use drone is the lack of radio frequency bandwidth. Each NFL stadium has a frequency coordinator, which is in charge of managing the frequency airspace for all of the numerous wireless systems needed for a broadcast, game production and stadium operations, like WiFi. They also make sure nothing interferes with Emergency Communications systems. They need to be able to provide a clear “lane” for devices to operate. There is literally not enough available bandwidth.
There was a discussion about an upcoming rule affecting Formula 1. F1 uses frequencies not available to consumer grade equipment. I imagine the NFL is the same, that their stuff is licensed at a frequency that does not interfere with every day stuff.
The UFL uses drones. It's actually the only part of their games I don't like. They make this God awful WHIIIIIIIRRRIIIIIIIIZZZEEEERRRRRRIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" noise while you're trying to enjoy the game.
th-cam.com/video/xeviAWB0i4Y/w-d-xo.html This was five years ago, I think. It delayed the inauguration of regular drone coverage for several years. But now drones operate on just about every Wold Cup speed race and a fair percentage of technical races. They are tiny by comparison to the one in the above video (no CIA needed) and can easily keep up with a downhill racer going 70 mph. They also never fly directly above, and only follow behind.
The NFL has way more money and people to toss around than the CIA. Think about the combined fortunes not just of the NFL teams but their owners their companies families friends if they wanted to develop a drone for filming they could do it easily someone out there would foot the bill to sell it to them but it's the broadcasters that have to do it not the NFL and they don't seem to be doing it.

Sorry five, tree got me signed up first 😂💀😃
Five really capitalizing off that Drone hype true bidnessman
I thought the NFL _had_ started using them, then their AI rebelled & that's why they were flying all over Jersey.
Jersey? Maybe AI isn't as dangerous or smart as we thought.
@@ChewsCarefullyit was only the MetLife drones cuz they could stand watching the jets and giants anymore
Obviously they aren't using drones because of Aaron Rodgers and New Jersey
Obvs.
😂🤣💯
Fun fact: The SkyCam was in part invented by Jamie Hyneman, the same guy from MythBusters.
Bill Belicheck with drones would be unstoppable
2:46 😂 bro went flying
What was that about 😂

Most commercial drones (one available to the public) only have 20-30 minute battery life at best.
Don't the UFL/USFL/XFL use drones? I remember seeing a game on TV with drones getting footage for replays
Good question! I'll have to check it out.
Yeah they used them during FG kicks to follow the ball. It was actually pretty cool
@whosaidthat84 Yeah, it was. But I also remember them using them like a sky cam to follow ballcarriers and long passes too
I remember them buzzing around.
@@FivePointsVids I’ve attended UFL games at the Dome in St. Louis and yes, they do use drones during live game play over the field
5:07 the crew offered McNutt a few hundred bucks so he wouldn’t sue. McNutt‘s reaction? “Cash? Ew”
The only active Drone in the NFL is Roger Goodell

use these to scout free agents and draft picks out and you'll finish 4-13 next year 😂
Love your sense of humor.
Aaron Rodgers: “What ho, what is that demonry?” 👆
I mean I have a mavic mini which is so lightweight it’s able to skirt FAA guidelines a bit. It’s only a matter of time before they make drones that completely avoid regulations
Something tells me multiple Texas high-school football palaces have a sky cam
i bet
They tried a drone in an NBA game and it was so distracting i hated it as soon as i saw it. It’s probably the same for NFL games.
The gospel according to Grossi: "Um, actually those drones were flying over *New York* "
2:52 why is he trying to run so fast? 🤣🤣🤣
Wasn't expecting a history lesson but it was welcomed nevertheless
5:05 just spat my popcorn out everywher

6:14 this looks like a scene from a gritty reboot of Rookie of the Year
stadiums near airports could be a problem (levi stadium)
History and sports!
God forbid one of those drones get low enough for someone to touch it. Good bye fingers
NASCAR has been flying drones over drunken crowds for a couple years now.
My first thought was that someone would use a drone to pull off Spygate 2 with.

Those are some nice video of the Linc.
Good Morning Five
I was at the 2011 Insight Bowl.
Shots fired! Shots fired!
Guess NJ isn't big enough for two bad teams.
All that sucking could alter the weather patterns.

6:18 Coming from a Giants fan, that's RICH 😂
Jets fans are so into pain, they just throw things at themselves.
"If a fan bought tickets to a Jets game, who knows what other dumb things they're capable of?"
Says the Giants fan.

camera in da ball
Liability lol
The USFL in 2022 used drones during games

Fiber optic drones on tethers?
Idk spinning blades around a ton of people
Good reasons.
It must have killed you to have to show so many Eagles shots in this video
And the Trevor Bauer incident in 2016
Checkout zip line drones

Someday I'm gonna get tired of jokes making fun of the Jets. But today is definitely not that day.
The UFL uses drones during there broadcasts
The USFL used drones during games
Just reading the title, the very idea of using drones in such a crowded environment is silly and reckless.
❤
They are also loud asf
We need blimp drones
USFL did it?
They use drones at indoor games.

A1
One reason lawsuit
Why isn't the NFL using drones? Cause Bills fans would throw snowballs at them, and they'd come crashing down
what is this comment? 😐
First!😅
