Reeds Lookout and The Balconies in the Grampians are found in the Zumsteins locality, both accessed from the same carpark on Mt Victory Road. It was my first visit to the Grampians region. We stayed in Halls Gap for four days, and took the opportunity to explore several walking trails. The Balconies was probably the easiest walk we tried in the four days there, but on the morning we went, it was icy cold, foggy, rainy and windy. The wall of fog obscured the views, but it made for an amazingly mysterious and eerie-feeling walk.

We had sunny skies and clearer views the following day, on a more challenging hike up to The Pinnacle and Lakeview from the Sundial Carpark, but I was too busy focusing on completing that trail in one piece to take much video footage.
Gariwerd is the traditional lands of the Djab Wurrung and Jardwardjali peoples, and evidence of their ancient connection to Country is found throughout the national park. It’s an incredibly beautiful, rugged and vast place. I hope to visit again one day.
Tips: wear proper hiking clothes and shoes, and carry plenty of water! Despite the cold weather, it was still thirsty work hiking in the region.
