Call me crazy, but the stack with the two cracked cymbals sounds the best to me.

I wouldn't necessarily limit myself to any size cymbals for any particular genre. I along with some other drummers that I know in the metal genres use 8, 10, and 12 inch cymbal stacks. It goes by what sounds good to you, and what sounds good in the mix. Just get a hold of lots of cymbals and experiment and found your sound. Great video though!

Man it looks like a pain to hit that rack tom with the ride hovering over it! I've never heard a china stack before, but it sounds pretty fucking sweet. I might put an even smaller china on the top just to get more sustain out of the 18! I'm just recently exploring cymbal stacks. I always thought it was pointless before but after getting myself a sweet new S series Trash Crash I've been exploring with some drier and less sustained cymbal tones. They sound so good as an accent cymbal on really tight high hat patterns. I love having the option of a second huge hihat or just a washy sound so I don't have to feather the hat pedal as much.

Great drumming!!! But I’m still waiting for a video hat shows good stands to use for stacks.. I have Meinl dark classic customs 16in trash stack and my Tama road pros couldn’t hold them. But I got some crazy bobo stand and it just bolts down the top and bottom. But there is a big gap between the top and bottom.

Unfortunately they don’t make this anymore, but Latin percussion used to make this thing called the cross crasher, it looks like a Celtic bell that has Rivets in between. I’ve been stacking that on top of my 18 inch china for the last several years and you just get this ridiculously crisp and sizzling tone that works for riding as well as accents and punctuations, super versatile. Nothing else like it!
