- In this episode of Hermitcraft Season 10, Mumbo builds an industrial iron farm so that he can satisfy his Hermitcraft iron permit, and construct an iron shop in the Hermitcraft shopping district. Mumbo Jumbo also joins Iskall85 for some Hermitcraft Pranks, and discusses future plans for the Hermitcraft season.

I don't think it's really the moustache. Mumbo has a trustworthy demeanor. If mumbo arrived at my doorstep and said "Those are some lovely carrots you're growing, may I have some for a project?" I'd be inclined to agree.

I often use a similar square design for my iron farms, and its kind of hard to tell how big of an effect it's having, but in the design I use and the design you showed at the beginning, theres a spawning platform in each corner. In your final build, you have one platform in the center. it may not seem like it would matter, but an iron golem being within range resets a timer on all the villagers. so if the golems get within range of the other corners, they effectively prevent them from spawning more.
tldr, if you switch to four spaced out platforms and funnel the golems together lower, you'll likely double your output, depending on how the spawning is currently lining up for you.

@@KATBOI667 the permit office (Grian) has determined that it is far enough into the season that the Hermits can afford to build proper shops
as a result, pop up shops are now officially outlawed and having one will receive a citation from the Permit Office Enforcement Squad (Skiz and Scar)
Likewise, failing to stock your shop in a timely manner will get a citation as will failure to follow the other rules like displaying your permit in your shop
Mumbo being so hyperfixated on building an automatic villager breeder without realising that he doesn't actually needs a farmer villager in order to breed them and then wasting a lot of time transporting them from a farther village is just perfect.
What other villager mines crops?

they need to HAVE food
How they get the food is only important if you want the breeder to be automatic
And once you get some normal villagers from the 2 nitwits by giving them food yourself, you can turn THOSE ones into farmers

There's a reason gnembon made four different spawning platforms. By making one big spawning platform in the middle, you decreased efficiency of the farm. Whenever a villager wants to spawn a golem, they check for already existing golems within a 16 radius box around them. This means in your design they will see each other's golems and therefore not spawn a new one. So your farm has 1/4th the efficiency of gnembon's design.
I'm glad I'm not the only one that is bothered by him complaining about having to transport 12 villagers for in the end only making a 1 villager iron farm

Not 1/4. They spawn on a global clock, often all 4 cells will spawn a golem at the same time. It doesn't work perfectly so it's definitely more efficient to have the cells completely independent but this is still a decent design
Did you know that you can breed Nitwits. And the offspring is a regular villager that you can give any job to.
So if you have 2 Nitwits, you could breed 2 villagers and make them farmers, then use them to run the villager breeder.
Just like in real life!

1 log splits to 4 planks,
2 planks split into 4 sticks, 4 planks to 8 sticks.

as someone who has built dozens of iron farms (i was building them for others on a server) i see your frustration caused by own dumb mistakes and i relate super hard, but also im laughing cuz i know by now that transporting villagers and mobs is super tricky and I'd've never tried to do that way. here's a couple tips:
1. a mob in a boat can be put into minecart with the boat, so you don't have to break the boat, you just shove the minecart into it (warning: villagers in boats in minecarts have a mind of their own if not on a rail). This also makes two-player minecarts possible (like Scar did when trying to drop Grian in the boatem hole. sidenote: kinda funny that Scar knows this redstone-adjacent thing and you don't.
2. using glass and a dispenser, it is possible to grab villagers out of the holding chamber one by one, also making them easier to then transport, so long as you have the rails to get them to their destination
also, brilliant idea to use the pillager instead of a zombie, trying to get a zombie into an iron farm is so stupidly difficult. or maybe thats cuz im still making stupid mistakes myself xD in addition to the increased range you also you don't have to worry about them burning during transport, or somehow getting too close to a villager (because you some stupid mistake) and killing them or zombifying them. def will be using in the future.
Doing god's work, I'm so over building iron farms.
6:25 pillager patrols do despawn if the player is far enough away, it's one of the more reliable ways to get rid out of patrols. However mobs in boats don't despawn, that is why the pillagers didn't despawn when they normally would've without a boat.
For example wondering traders will despawn even in boats.
@@hon3stmc Wandering traders work by different rules than any other mob. There's a timer until they despawn, which none of the normal methods (boat, minecart, nametag) will prevent; all you can do to stop a wandering trader despawning is leave it in unloaded chunks. Any other mob sitting in a boat or minecart will not despawn without a glitch.

Pro tip: u can move a boat by punching it with ur fist as the boat takes knock back, the boat is an entity.
Another one: I think the rates of ur slime farm has been reduced as the number of blocks above the spawning platform is also a part of the mob spawning algorithm, dashbum explains this in his gold farm video.

You CAN make a Villager breeder using Nitwits, you just have to manually give them food (which is honestly more lag friendly, because then they aren't just constantly making more villagers when you don't need them to).
Also, putting a mob in a boat automatically prevents them from despawning.
seeing Iskall and Mumbo imitate a standard 2016 Call Of Duty MW2 lobby sounds wonderful. it have me a stitch i was laughing because too hard.

I guess if you want the design where both the parents run around the farm and collect their own crops, then starting with nitwits is a bit of a bother. Otherwise, I use them in all my farms and hostile mob sorters.

@@_BangDroid_they only spend a little food to breed, but need a lot of food to start it going. Farmer villagers do the whole supplying thing automatically, so its best to use those from the start if you have them. While yes, technically mumbo could have bred 2 normal villagers from the nitwits then made them into farmers for the real villager breeder, it was definitely going to be all around faster just to get the setup at the second village

@@olivers.7821in S5 mumbo had a pumpkin farm that he afk'd at overnight and it crashed the server causing X to drag Mumbo back to check his farms where he found he'd created a perfect circle in Minecraft out of pumpkin entities
Mumbo built a huge pumpkin farm and a huge ice path to funnel into his storage system.
Not all the chunks were loaded. I think that server rack is still burning.

@@graxeltoothcan't remember the season, maybe season 5. He created a melon and pumpkin farm (I think). There was an issue with the collection system though. All the pumpkins got lodged in the same space in an underground pipe. As in, thousands of the things. It created a literal sphere of pumpkins. He needed help to find and get rid of it because of the lag it created. It was quite funny.

My trick to moving villagers into place in a trading hall or iron farm, is put them in a boat and then the boat in a minecart, it usually sends the minecart back to you empty so you dont have to worry about the tiny minecart hitbox, and leaves the boat in an easy position to break. They also move way faster when you do minecart+boat.
I think Mumbo should admit that he can actually build now 😂

Glass floors can interfere with villager path finding! On a (very different, but still) iron farm I've made, the glass floor caused them to just stop panicking occasionally. I can't say for certain if it will interfere with this set up, but it's something to look at if the farm doesn't seem to work as efficiently as it should.

For me it only defaults back to 100% whenever I happen to set the output to output only so it doesn't recognize the mic and then set it back to stereoduplex (in- and output) it is set to 100%. Also sometimes happens when I connect my bluetooth headphones and manually select their lower quality setting, enabling their mic to be used by the computer.

One suggestion - to split up 2 villagers with 2 boats, make one a chest boat. Also an easy way to get ender pearls in the nether without a zombie pigman hopping in the boat too.

You could add an autocrafter component to the slime farm for more capacity with the same amount of chests. The same goes for the ironfarm, you could filter out the poppies into a composter (with autocrafter to turn bonemeal into boneblocks) and autocraft the iron ingots into iron blocks.
Copy pasting my comment on Mumbo's previous video for more visibility: MUMBO, don't forget your shops! If they haven't been restocked in a while, your permit might be rescinded! (Especially the case with the item frame shop)
Edit: Also an awesome build! I really like the new sketching strategy you've found.
Edit 2: this comment has gotten some likes so I'm shamelessly using it to promote my idea's about the bartering farm. The gold ingots automatically go into the bartering farm. The bartering outputs all kinds of things (preferably into a storage system). For mumbo most importantly leather and gravel. The leather can be used to craft item frames. If Mumbo also makes a bamboo farm he can autocraft that bamboo into sticks allowing itemframes to also be autocrafted. This creates AFK'able item frames when using the gold farm overnight.
The gravel can possibly be used to make a trade deal with whoever has has that permit. Mumbo can allow that hermit to use his bartering farm to get gravel for a small weekly fee, thus also 'automating' the afk'ing part of the equation.
It's even possible to make an inefficient iron farm near the gold farm to also have a small passive income of iron.
Edit 3: the current owner of the sand&gravel permit should be Scar. He's the type that would just mine it for hours, so if you (Mumbo) want someone else to AFK for you, ask him quickly before he start doing that. Though it might just be better to have Scar as far away from your farm as possible, with his reputation... 😂
