Im so lucky that i got to see Watain live this Feb. I'm from India so we don't get metal of this calibre often back home. What a crushing band they are ! I was rooted to the spot throughout their performance. Unforgettable.
Yeah, I've watched a bunch of them, and every performance of that end solo by Set Titan I've seen falls short of what Selim does here by quite a bit. Hampus Eriksson does a good job of it in more recent footage I've seen, but it's not surprising that Selim would do it best, given that he also recorded it on the album version.
@@Ourobovine makes sense, the leads on the song dont really sound like your typical black metal leads whereas it sounds a shitload like the way selim played his leads
2 of the most same minded people, creating one of the most beautyfull black metal songs ever, not even the most beautyfull anti cosmic song (which I hold The yonder beckons as the most important song there) but really beautyfull black metal songs. I never listened black metal, but this song completly turned me 180, this song is so important to my musical background that I could say this introduced me to harmonical intervals more then any other type of music ever. well, this song and everything Selim ever did, he was a genius.

Easily the best performance of this song on youtube. Gives me chills every time. Hail WATAIN!!!!!!!
Best live performance of any song period.

Selim nailed these solos like a champion!
He played this song's lead on the album. :)

This song live is like the most beautiful blessing in the world :D
4:10 You can actually see the energies coursing through him. That's his body quaking and trembling from a vision of the abyss.
A Pure Trance
It's such a tremendous release of energy that it caused my eyes to well up when I watched this the first time. Powerful stuff...

This is such a tribute to Katatonia in their Dance of December Souls era. Very beautiful. Nicely done guys!
thank you
Can you tell me please with what equipment you recorded this song?
How so?
00:22 is that someone getting a Grindr notification?
Well wadya know, turns out Satan does love us gays after all! \m/
At the beginning he says "thirteen years of s-????"
thirteen years of silence
theyve taken on a much more sober live attitude
Love the shit out of this song but is it just me or is the guys guitar out of tune for the final solo?
I hear that a bit, but I still think it's pretty great.
It's not out of tune it's selim's rendition of it. The difference isn't just in tune but in general.
