Last of my summer I took some herring bait out of our cooler held in my teeth and she pulled it out of my mouth. Three times because every time I did it someone asked me to do it again for a picture. Then I talked to a local and he said Popeye had bit someone earlier that month. Glad I didn’t get my face bit off but she was very gentle. And that is a she because she had pups.
We were there shortly after that happened and felt bad for Ms. Popeye since she was getting bad press from the locals. Sometimes people get carried away and forget she's a sea creature that LOVES her fish, and if your nose smells like fish she might be coming for you! We saw her later last summer and she was doing well.
@@mvfreedom dowmriggers is great, but San Juan Brewing Co. Just opened up. It's further up into town. The street where that whale tail statue is... keep going up hill, big new building. It's fantastic, would absolutely recommend. Especially if you're a beer snob...

@@mvfreedom right on! I'm off island visiting family still otherwise I'd buy you guys a pint! My favorite is the Outerisland IPA... I've heard whispers of it being canned soon. Right now they can the Vienna lager, the pale ale, the ESB and a Oktoberfest seasonal. I heard the winds were particularly nasty the past few days, the strait is probably too rowdy even for the ferries.

Friday Harbor is one of my favorite places in the world and probably the most beautiful town I've seen.
Haven't been to Friday harbor since I was a kid. This brought back good memories thanks. :)
