I believe that Campbell was trying to save his mash unit defense by giving his offense another chance to have the ball. The Lions were unlucky that Buffalo had a long return on the play. Usually, an onside kick is simply recovered, not returned for long yardage. It didn't work, but it made sense to Campbell. I'm sure he doesn't care if you or anyone else thought it made zero sense.
Not too crazy... he knew they couldnt stop the Bills. Campbell admitted he needed to steal a possession and the Bills werent turning it over on offense. That last kick was really good straight on and the kicker involved helped but Taron Johnson of the Bills is tough he took a beating to keep that ball.
Michigan native and Lions fan. Love DC and this whole team. Overall I’m for aggressive play calling and going for it on (many) of the 4th downs they have. But I’m sorry calling a 7% odds of conversion onside kick with 12 mins left is just not smart. Gotta tighten up the decision making before playoffs

It made sense. The probability to get the ball at the onsite kick was at that point higher than to stop Allen with the defence the way they played.

I was so confused with this call
Campbell is a great HC.

At least there is one person in the whole NFL that is trying to make it entertaining. The shit is like politics at this point.
Support Dan! They had to try something to win the game and kicking off to the Bills was a losing proposition.
First ! And also yeah man Campbell makes me laugh with a lot of his crazy play calls.
