  • Robots used to be the epitome of Sci Fi. But now we are getting closer and closer to this future. Mankind continues to make progress in the field of robotics. We're still a long way from androids like the ones in movies, but today's robots can do quite a bit. First and foremost, Japan is one of the robot nations. We take a look at what everyday life with robots could look like. What do you think about robots? Let us know in the comments...

I think you guys are doing a good job but you need to work on getting your videos more views and likes. Using other source of social media tools and interacting & engaging with viewers could help with that.

Old comment, I know, but DW is a German public broadcaster and I really don't think they care overmuch.

Can this robot empty bins ? do dusting and clean table tops ? if it can then robotic will have all jobs then not just driverless car.

The idea of Surgical Robots is pretty good, especially for their high precision. Household Robots, however, should have a way higher accuracy and operating speed. In addition, they should be more dynamic, like a person, not moving bricks with arms. In the second case we'll have to wait a long time before they'll be worth buying and affordable to the average worker.

Good point, actually my wife was saved by a surgical robot and the cancer was found in the surgery to have spread more than they thought. After the surgery and then chemo to make sure, there has been no sign of cancer.

The age-old problem is that when you make a system more complicated, it has more failures. This is why computers and robots have never eliminated the need for human jobs.

But a lot of people won't be able to adapt to the more complicated systems. Robots will only eliminate human jobs if we strive for a future where we are not needed, I do not think that is the will of the people though.

@@onlyeveryone2253 what I'm saying is humans are not capable of creating a robot that will not need lots of human jobs to maintain it. No amount of will can change it.

@@JeffSmith03 we probably can in like 30-50 years. It's not actual now though.

@@onlyeveryone2253 I've been doing robotics development and software programming and I realize it was easy to predict back then when I was young, but now that I've seen 50 years in real life I'd have to say nope. I don't want to ruin anybody's dream but we all wake up some time.

@@JeffSmith03 But you got to admit we will have bigger and bigger robot systems with greater efficiency per human hour. Have you got a feeling on how far we have come in robots that serve/repair other robots? You do not have to come with specific examples, just your feeling on the subject.
I know about the four legged robots finding gas leaks and imagine them being able to send signals to a cloud service for appropriate action.
