Okay, literally stop throwing Tzuyu under the bus with the misconception and trying to get clickbait. She is one of Tzuyu’s best friends who is also a translator as her occupation and have helped Tzuyu translate Chinese to Korean whenever Tzuyu needs help or is confused with certain Korean words. In the full scene Tzuyu speaks Chinese directly to her mom if she is talking to her mom but if she’s mentioning her Unnies and talking to her Unnies, her friend translator translates the Korean parts in Chinese for her mom. Tzuyu’s Unnies aren’t Taiwanese, they ARE Korean. Tzuyu also said it in Chinese to her mom before her Unnies came that they’re her Unnies that helps her in Korea. She wanted her mom to know that she is doing fine and has really good friends that takes good care of her while living in Korea. This is how misinformation gets thrown around, and people goes and blame the artist. Then the artist has to apologize and explain AGAIN.
I don’t think she necessarily forgot. I think she just didn’t want to repeat herself in two languages (or at least that’s how I saw it). She’s already the main focal point of the video so to be leading the conversation and then translating what she says and what everyone says might have been a lot.
Honestly mostly anyone who is multilingual would relate to Tzuyu 😭 Translating is hard. Also Korean and Chinese are entirely different form each other, especially the grammar structure. Her friend had the time and privilege to study at a Korean university so she was obviously much better than Tzuyu when it comes to languages.
Now this is no where close to what the girls are going through but it's similar some weeks I barely speak in my native tongue despite living in my native country, most of the day I spend writing, reading and listening stuff in english and those weeks I have a hard time recalling some word here or there when I got to speak with my mom or friends I stumble upon.
