Hi Season😁! It's so nice to see you as well, thank you so much for visiting❤. That's a great question. I usually work with medium 4 weight yarns. I prefer to use Hobby Lobby's I Love This Cotton yarns for my ami doll bodies because it looks and feels great and acrylics for everything else. As for doll clothes, I love to use light 3 weight yarns with a larger hook because it yields a much nicer, softer fabric which I love for clothing. For my dolls, I will sometimes mix and match fibers. For instance, cotton for the body and acrylics for the hair and clothing. Much of it is determined by my yarn stash and what I feel like in the moment😊. Lately though, I've been using a lot of 4 weight acrylics for my dolls simply because I'm trying to use up a specific stash and because my hands sometimes need a break from using cotton yarns, they can be quite taxing on my fingers😩. I have been enjoying using the lighter weight 3 yarns lately for my amis. I didn't think I'd enjoy them because I thought they'd be hard on my hands, but I may have changed my stance on that🤔. However, I do find that 3 weight yarns are much harder to find than 4 weight yarns. How about you Season? Do you have any favorite yarns for your amis? Spill the tea 😁
@@StitchADeeDooDoll well i use all kinds of yarn but right now I'm using a lot more plush yarns and big hooks. I'm working out of the mama mademini lovey book right now and I'm enjoying using big twist posh yarn, basix chenille and bernat blanket with them. I've made a few with michaels sweet snuggles, but i don't prefer it and worry about the longjevity of the yarn when washed over and over🤔. I think I'm just giving my tired hands a break after crocheting with small yarn and hooks for so long. But i am determined to use my stash this year, so that consists of fingering weight, dk weight, worsted as well as a lot of plush and bulky yarns. My absolute favorite yarn to work with though is velvet! I adore velvet 🤗. And it double magic rings😉.
Seems like everyone's doing the same. I'm really late to the plush yarn game myself 😊, but I do love working with velvet yarn too, it's my favorite plush yarn variety. I just got the mama made mini book and look forward to working out of it one day. It seems to be all the rage in the community right now. That's good information about the Michaels sweet snuggles, I've never tried it myself. Oh I know exactly what you mean about giving your hands a break. I too, have to take breaks from working with cotton yarns. It's funny, acrylics feel like a dream to work with after using cotton for so long 😂. But working with plush yarns is a whole new world! So fun! So soft! So squishy and cuddly😍! Thanks for chatting with me Season, and for spilling the tea 😉. It's fun to get to know you better. Have a wonderful week ahead. Aloha!❤
Your projects are always absolutely out of the park gorgeous! I am wondering if one day you can show us how you put the head neck area together. There’s nothing worse than a floppy head and you never seem to have that! If you can’t show us can you suggest someone who can? Beautiful outstanding work! Thank you so much
