Its a solvent based epoxy applied on RCC underground sump ,material doesn't HAVE ANY ELONGATION and no film will be formed...he could have applied and good food grade epoxy, Esdee is not for water proofing
Leakage of water tanks after few years is a major issue faced by many. 60% of such water tanks defnitly will have leakage issue. Some important points to remember while you plan for a concrete water tank. Step1- MIX Dr Fixit 101 LW in concrete mix(200 ml for 50 Kg cement bag) Step2- After concrete work is done clear the minute holes using epoxy putty or white cement and Dr fixit 301 Pidicrete URP(100ml in 1Kg cement) smoothen sharp corners and edges. Srep3- Apply Dr Fixit it Roofseal Flex 109 or Dr Fixit Fast Flex 113 ( 3 cots first apply vertically with a brush, then horizondal application after an interval of one day.( Extra care at water out points, apply well leaving no gaps) Then third cot on third day after third cot sprinkle some sand over the third cot.(which helps in fixing tiles) Remove non sticking extra sand with a broom and now its fit for tiling. Remember never pour water over the cots, but use a moist cloth over after each application. ( For drinking water use only above said non toxic water proofing materials. ) Step4- Choose big size tiles as far as possible to minimise joints. Note Can water pass through cement? water can pass through cement by hydrostatic pressure, water vapor gradient or capillary action. Concrete is inherently porous, although a sealer can be added to the concrete surface to prevent water penetration. It's practically impossible to make an absolutely nonporous concrete where water won't penetrate even a fraction of an inch. Tiling with Epoxy is not a right method of water proofing. videos of various other products for diffrent usages are available at Dr Fixit official sites. Always take Specialist opinion before constructing Water Tanks to avoid unnecessary tensions and stress lateron. Else use a ready made Steel or synthetic water tanks which is highly ecomomical and hazzle free !
