5000 cal a day seems excessive. Im around the same size as the young man, though much older, and I need a baseline 2300 cal a day plus whatever I burn during training, which in powelifitng I understand to be around 300 to 500 cals per session, afterburn included. So my bulking intake is around 3k cals per day and my recovery is fine, considering Im an intermediate, middle aged, natural lifter doing 3 barbell sessions plus 2 or 3 gpp sessions per week Maybe the kid is enhanced and training lifts twice a day everyday, but even then, 4k should be enough. How did they arrive at the 5k solution?
I walk upwards of 10 miles a day and lift weights, i have no trouble gaining weight whatsoever. Rip just gaslights and lies to people about the weight gaining thing.
@@3ncore706 thats around 3 hours of walking, at my weight that costs around 500 cal per hour, so you must be eating around 4k mark at least, lucky you lol
He is obviously exagerating to make a point.. if you aim for 5000kcal then you damn sure are not undereating, so failing to him 5000kcal .ade you hit 3000kcal or 4000kcal or so.. more than maintenance anyway

I wish I was able to afford that much food. The only time you’ll get away with it is when you’re a teenager. Eating 5000 calories in mid 30’s/early 40’s is setting yourself up for a one way ticket straight to the boneyard.

More bad advice from the Bloat Lord. People over estimate how much muscle they put on. Most of the gain is blubber. No one said you need to be 6% body fat, but you definitely can be in the sub 20% year round. Stop normalizing fat guts.

@@SK-2ill Yeah 200lb at 6' is quite healthy as a muscular athlete. Pretty much my size (I'm an inch shorter than you are). I got up to 262lb before just eating everything and I got very strong but my cardiovascular fitness wasn't great and my blood pressure, although not alarming was slightly elevated. I could deadlift 250kg for 3 sets of 3, squat 210kg for 3 sets of 5. I was decently strong without any kind of structured program but at what cost?
Allegedly you are a boxer not a football player. So why be on this forum that doesn’t apply to you. Nobody gives a flying fuck about your weight. The boy plays a different sport and is obviously trying to play college ball
I’ve watched about 20 rip vids at this point and heard him complain about visible abs roughly 10,000 times
First time ever I've heard Mark comment on anyone's weight gain with anything like appreciation.
Refreshing.
Jim Steel competed in a bodybuilding show. The articles are documented on the SS site.

Oh nah im not 250 pounds haha i could probably bulk on less than 3k calories.
Powerlifting does not burn as much calories as football practice + lifting with a teenager's metabolism.

It's ok tho cuz of what he brings to the table
His son eats too much. 255lb at 17 is not healthy unless he 6'6"+ tall with a big frame.
When I was 17 I was 6' and 200 lbs, only running. 50 lbs as a powerlifter isn't crazy to think about. I was lean at 200 with a 0 squat 0 DL 135 bench.
