This Part 1 focused on the already built files available from github, which already had the DISCON libraries. In part 2 and 3 there is discussion on building OpenFAST from the source code, where DISCON is also built in Visual Studio and can also be done in CMAKE.
After downloading all open fast VS codes, how do I get results like graphics representing available data? Please help me, sir, this is research objective ....
@@sreenuaits9420 there's a video online which does visualisation of wind data in OpenFAST. Here's the link th-cam.com/video/33IqCq0UnQE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=r8i6Lsif_ndDroDs
Hi@@catchmentofresources RAOs are not required in OpenFAST. They are computed for a given floater type e.g., RAO in surge, RAO in sway,... RAO surge gives the surge when the floater is subjected to any wave. It's like the transfer function
@@riadelhamoud8224 noted. I may do a video on Response Amplitude Operator, RAO, but since it isn't in OpenFAST, it may not be usable to a large number of people.
@@sreenuaits9420 here's the link to Matlab codes for OpenFAST. github.com/OpenFAST/matlab-toolbox I don't use Matlab, and I also think not much help videos are avaliable online of what a practical use of Matlab code looks like. I want to use this for my project to model an airborne wind turbine to be located in 7 regions in the UK. I have the average wind speed data of the region but don't know how to use open fast to simulate a drag-lift system or flygen system of same rating as the turbines in these existing locations
Sorry I'm just seeing this message now. Don't know what happened. A CFD application should be able to simulate it for you. Wind speed data can be input to OpenFAST but it isn't straightforward.
In my laptop, when I'm doing same process in command prompt, it is showing that this app can't run on your PC ..what should I do? Is there any special system requirement?
Great work sir!
Awesome!! Thank you so much!!
Here it is important to mention that the DISCON libraries have to be compiled with cmake before using the ServoDyn-module

Could you make a video showing how to compute RAOs please ?
Hi @riadelhamoud8224, can you give a screen grab of where RAO is required in OpenFAST?
