You have to do what you have to do. Pad slap works fine. When budget allows you can pull the rotors and turn or replace and return the pads for new and replace.And you're right: rotors got high as has everything else.
Oh yeah the land of ice and snow. Well at least it used to be. It's almost 60 degrees here today pretty crazy for December. Hopefully you have some decent weather for your holiday as well.
I've done that dozens of times is it optimal, no but it does get you from point a to point b till your next paycheck.
