Correct! Having the racquet slightly more horizontal helps beginners learn the full (pronation)range of motion. When you do the full advanced serve, you do contact the ball at the highest point with your racquet vertical. However, this is a beginner tutorial. I teach in stages. This way, people can build up to the full "advanced" motion with ease. This has worked for me and all my students thus far.
