I lovvve Luke's outfit here, the jeans, blazer, skinny tie, the color of his shirt is very flattering.... I wonder if they picked out their own wardrobe or if someone was in charge of telling them what "Luke" should wear to portray a certain vibe, etc. I know they have wardrobe as a matter of rote, but still curious as to some of these really cool outfits not only he wears, but the beautiful dresses, skirts, etc. that Laura wears also.

The writing for L&L was excellent. It shouldn't have ever changed. Of course it couldn't be this fiery all the time but certainly the writers should never have given us the impression that they could ever love anyone else the way they loved eachother. Even when one or both were absent from GH at anytime or veered into another relationship, we the viewer should've always believed that there was no one else for L&L This is what ultimately drove me away.

I really feel like Claudia looks as if she senses something off in the beginning of this clip, even though they tell her it's about trouble with a new waitress. Her face looks like somebody who walked in on something they shouldn't. But they never followed up on those type moments for some reason, even though production was pretty high quality then!

Interesting. It didn't really bother me because she was so young and so immature and so indecisive and in a situation she had no idea how to deal with. She thought because Scotty was her husband she should tell him ...but there were so many situations with Luke and Watson and Frank that she knew Luke understood and he was saying not to say anything... So I understood her confusion didn't bother me. Compare to today's General Hospital was brilliant!

I'm going to be the one to set it off on this, but MAYBE Laura should NEVER had said anything at all about being raped, esp. if she (a) had no intention of reporting Luke (b) had no intention of telling Scotty the truth or (c) was going to continue working/talking to/being involved on some level with Luke. Then MAYBE they would not be in this mess of who raped Laura and who didn't at this point. Just sayin' and just a thought. And I am still a super HUGE L&L fan and wish to this day they were still together :-)
She didn't know the progression of things, everything was kind of "in the moment." She had to deal with shock, and then guilt because it was someone she knew, had been attracted to and intrigued by from a distance, kind of subconsciously (she was in denial, I think, about her feelings for him). There was fear that if she named him, people would judge her and think she had somehow encouraged him, (actually she was judging herself internally in this very matter). There was empathy for the fact that he had thought he was going to be killed and "snapped" in a way that, according to him - was not really "him." Then she evolved into a forgiveness process towards him and was more wanting "to understand." She started to tell Scotty many times, and was overcome with fear of how he would react or not be able to handle it. She went back to work because she wanted to pretend like it never happened, and "go back to normal," it was a coping mechanism. She was jarred by her mother asking for a divorce from Rick after he was "honest" with her about Monica, it influenced her about opening up to Scotty. Then when she finally leaves her job, there's the infamous closet incident where she HAS to return to work or else.... one thing progressed to the next, there was no "knowing" ahead of time how all of it would unfold. That's where all the suspense and anticipation come in!
SHE SHOULD OF SAID " I WAS MUGGED TO THE COP THAT FOUND HER THAT NIGHT IN THE PARK. BUT, SHE DIDN'T HAVE THE TIME TO PROCESS THE RAPE UNTIL THE NEXT DAY AND THEN WEEKS, AND MONTHS LATER.

I think American women in general couldn't get enough of it because the love these two people had for each was against the norms of society. it stirred up our own imagination of what if..... what if you found yourself in love with someone while being married?????
I'm hooked on them all over again but I have to say the way the casually refer to Luke raping Laura is so odd. Also the end here when Luke tells Laura about the eyes she makes at him. Honestly, we haven't seen a lot of that.

MONICA JONES That was a source of tension in her relationship with Bryan-the fact that she was supported financially by her parents. I believe she was a volunteer at the waterfront clinic, not an employee. Not sure she ever had to work. And remember she offered to buy Laura a replacement for her sticky door? I don’t think she had a trust fund, but she was probably only second in the pampered stacks to Jennifer.
Well today 9/17/20, Robert has teamed up Olivia, and its looking interesting, and he is 74 and she is 50. So it still goes on and it is still a viable dynamic.
The age gap is more of an issue the younger you are. Laura at 17 has so much less life experience to draw on than Luke at 32. But Laura in her 30's and Luke in his 40's, that age gap is nothing.
These two are a pair. Laura has put a phony charge on a dead man. And not only is Luke backing her, he convinced Laura to do it. If PCPD ever got a Cold Case Unit, these two would be in big trouble… starting with that night at the disco… Luke and Laura.. they make me sick.

As much as I love these 2, I will say it gets a little tiring that they had Laura constantly keep saying "I'm going to tell Scotty the whole truth" and "I'm going to tell Scotty everything about.... (everything)"..... This is just the beginning. In every other clip, she'll keep saying it. [edit on spelling]
Interesting. It didn't really bother me because she was so young and so immature and so indecisive and in a situation she had no idea how to deal with. She thought because Scotty was her husband she should tell him ...but there were so many situations with Luke and Watson and Frank that she knew Luke understood and he was saying not to say anything... So I understood her confusion didn't bother me. Compare to today's General Hospital was brilliant!
Oh believe me, I got so sick of hearing her say it also!!! Every ten minutes, "I'm going to tell Scotty, I'm going to tell Scotty, I'm going to tell Scotty..............................................................

@@sussezq No doubt it was brilliant....I still watch these. BUT...the writers overdid it. Every 2 episodes may have been more tolerable. That was the only flaw she had.

I'm going to be the one to set it off on this, but MAYBE Laura should NEVER had said anything at all about being raped, esp. if she (a) had no intention of reporting Luke (b) had no intention of telling Scotty the truth or (c) was going to continue working/talking to/being involved on some level with Luke. Then MAYBE they would not be in this mess of who raped Laura and who didn't at this point. Just sayin' and just a thought. And I am still a super HUGE L&L fan and wish to this day they were still together :-)

She didn't know the progression of things, everything was kind of "in the moment." She had to deal with shock, and then guilt because it was someone she knew, had been attracted to and intrigued by from a distance, kind of subconsciously (she was in denial, I think, about her feelings for him). There was fear that if she named him, people would judge her and think she had somehow encouraged him, (actually she was judging herself internally in this very matter). There was empathy for the fact that he had thought he was going to be killed and "snapped" in a way that, according to him - was not really "him." Then she evolved into a forgiveness process towards him and was more wanting "to understand." She started to tell Scotty many times, and was overcome with fear of how he would react or not be able to handle it. She went back to work because she wanted to pretend like it never happened, and "go back to normal," it was a coping mechanism. She was jarred by her mother asking for a divorce from Rick after he was "honest" with her about Monica, it influenced her about opening up to Scotty. Then when she finally leaves her job, there's the infamous closet incident where she HAS to return to work or else.... one thing progressed to the next, there was no "knowing" ahead of time how all of it would unfold. That's where all the suspense and anticipation come in!
SHE SHOULD OF SAID " I WAS MUGGED TO THE COP THAT FOUND HER THAT NIGHT IN THE PARK. BUT, SHE DIDN'T HAVE THE TIME TO PROCESS THE RAPE UNTIL THE NEXT DAY AND THEN WEEKS, AND MONTHS LATER.

It did get a little 'on the nerves' hearing "I'm going to tell Scotty EVERYTHING", to "I can't tell" to the same repeated record over & over. Put up or shut up......the writers on this one knew how to drag it out...
I agree. Laura proclaimed constantly she was going to tell Scottie about the rape, that, at the end of the day, one simply didn't care anymore that she was raped.

@@monicajones5943 it was unlike anything else on daytime tv with the underlying SEX, ADVENTURE, AND LOVE. All the longing looks of two people wanting something and knowing that it was wrong. I think American women in general couldn't get enough of it because the love these two people had for each was against the norms of society. it stirred up our own imagination of what if..... what if you found yourself in love with someone while being married?????
I'm hooked on them all over again but I have to say the way the casually refer to Luke raping Laura is so odd. Also the end here when Luke tells Laura about the eyes she makes at him. Honestly, we haven't seen a lot of that.
Yeah, we have really. Every time she looks at him you can see it in her eyes how she is attracted to him.
I wish GH would bring back Laura again, because no one can or will replace Laura,not even Tracy(love the character but would rather have L&L).

And to think those dopey writers had Luke end up with Tracy. Unbelievable. I appreciate Tony Geary wants his life in Amsterdam and I am so happy he is happy but I would give anything if i'd come back for just 3 episodes and wrap up this 40 year love story in the way it deserves. He is so charismatic it's breathtaking and no woman on earth has a more beautiful smile than Genie. I've given up on GH. The writing and performances are abysmal.

MONICA JONES That was a source of tension in her relationship with Bryan-the fact that she was supported financially by her parents. I believe she was a volunteer at the waterfront clinic, not an employee. Not sure she ever had to work. And remember she offered to buy Laura a replacement for her sticky door? I don’t think she had a trust fund, but she was probably only second in the pampered stacks to Jennifer.

Well today 9/17/20, Robert has teamed up Olivia, and its looking interesting, and he is 74 and she is 50. So it still goes on and it is still a viable dynamic.
The age gap is more of an issue the younger you are. Laura at 17 has so much less life experience to draw on than Luke at 32. But Laura in her 30's and Luke in his 40's, that age gap is nothing.
