Problem with NWOTHM, which I'd so much like to support...The songwriting just isn't there. I've listened to so much of it and sadly am not hearing much good songwriting. Just all very generic, both visually and in the quality of the music. Solid playing, though, and I like the energy, but I honestly cannot think of really any bands that demonstrate even close to the songwriting needed to carry them over the top. Believe me, I'm enthusiastically rooting for NWOTHM; I love classic US metal, and see NWOTHM as one of the most refreshing waves I've experienced over the years. I'm just praying to the Gods that somewhere in a garage Maiden 2.0 is ready to bust through the gates, and save us all. Plenty will disagree with me, and this just my own opinion.
@@arthivs7653 I totally agree with you . I also think that over use of guitar harmonies , and too many neo classical guitar leads are inventing new ways to make music suck . As far as decent NWOTHM bands go Slough Feg and Iron Kingdom are the only bands I personally can listen to an entire song without falling asleep
This is definitely my favorite metal genre, I'm so happy to see Sara and Banger promoting it and talking about. So much good trad style metal now, a break from all the screaming and growling that is so prominent in modern metal. Great work, thanks!!
i love cassette, my beginning on heavy metal music was in cassettes of Sepultura, Metallica, Judas Priest and Iron Maiden, thats midia is very important to my life
Thanks for focusing on traditional heavy metal for this segment. As a child of the 80’s Trad metal is right in my wheelhouse. My current favorite bands are Haunt, Dream Troll and Traveler. Keep up the great work!
Absolutely Love the underappreciated THE OATH who released one album before breaking up and the front woman Johanna Sadonis forming LUCIFER, highly recommend both bands for those who don't know either \m/
Coronary,snowblind,spellbook,angel sword,black soul horde and high spirits are all pretty good...then of course there's a lil band called Smoulder,but you've heard of them

It's nice to see traditional heavy metal and cassettes making a comeback. Great material from all the bands. Now if only some nice electronics company would start producing a good quality, loud, affordable jam box. Then we could all meet up in the woods for a doobie and some beers.
Took me some digging to find that Trapped Under Ice comp but I did. And man is it awesome. Going to have to get a few full lengths from some of the artists featured on it.
Pagan Altar and The Lord Weird Slough Feg (i know it's just Slough Feg these days but i like it more like that,show the epic effect behind the band,cause these boys are EPIC) grabbed me from emptiness of mainstream into the realm of higher consciousness
my favorite out of this movement (if it fits) would be Sumerlands. they are absurdly fantastic. absolutely cannot wait for whatever they bring out next.
I like Stallion , Steelwing althogh they don't exists anymore , Air Raid , Skull Fist , Night Viper , I found this new genre and I am amaze by it , I´d always liked traditional heavy metal and its good to know that they are a bunch of kids doing it again , keep on the good reviews like this and please talk more about this kind of bands and thrash metal , there are a lot of new bands on that genre too.
Band that no one's heard yet, probably Elvenstorm from France, their album last year The Conjuring was one of the best trad/speed/power releases I've heard in awhile. Infectious and aggressive.
Months late to this video, but NWOTHM bands that have really caught my attention are as followed: Haunt, Vänlade, Silver Talon, Visigoth, Eternal Champion, Sabïre, Ambush, Bewitcher , Iron Void, Savage Master , Smoulder (nudge nudge wink wink), Skelator, Electric Poison, Riot City, Bullet, Cauldron, Skull Fist, Vulture, War Dogs, Night Demon, Traveler, Outlaw, Stormburner, and Midnight Priest.
Check out Soul Grinder. They may be a band you might not have heard of. They lean a little closer to thrash but they are new unsigned band that have an ep and a full length out. They are fantastic. A pure throwback.
Favourite NWOTHM bands.... gonna stick to stuff not already mentioned in the video... Legendry, Throne of Iron, Visigoth, Seven Sisters, Oath (UK), Traveler, Riot City, Ezra Brooks, Kramp and Stone Dagger. I'm forgetting loads of great ones too!
Is hard to choose just a few, but on my top list must be the Swedish legends Ambush, followed by Toronto's prodigal sons Skull Fist, which is, in my opinion, one of the best metal bands all times. It would impossible not to mention the accessible sound of a band like Striker. Some other mandatory bands on the Traditional Metal scene are Silver Talon, Pounder, Attacker and Night Demon. Finally, in the Legacy department, I'd like to mention as all-time favorites first and foremost Jag Panzer, followed by Diamond Head, Angel Witch, Grim Reaper, Satan and last but not least a band from the '80s that is less known but highly recommended, I'm referring to Cutthroat which self-titled album of 87 was re-released on 2005 thanks to Hades Paradise Records.

I don’t know any of the new bands but my first cassettes were from Priest, Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth, Testament And Exodus. I even like hardcore/punk music like Suicidal, Cro-Mags, Agnostic Front And D.R.I.
Spell is probably my favorite band in this new school wave of trad metal. Dying to hear a new album from them! As a puertorican I gotta shout out our locals, Dantesco! They sound like if Candlemass, Manowar, and Mercyful Fate had a baby with operatic vocals.

I absolutely love Eternal Champion! I hope you're going to review Crypt Sermon's new album because I honestly believe that is going to be a masterpiece as well.
Out of modern/NWOTHM bands, my favorite is definitely Magic Circle. Those guys are extremely talented. And as far as classics go, those would be Judas Priest, Pagan Altar, Cirith Ungol, Angel Witch, and pretty much anything that has a "doomy"-vibe to it.
Two bands from India are Sceptre and Kryptos- These guys are Big in the local scene Kryptos have Played festivals in Europe-- Big in Germany- Sceptre is also Awesome
Visigoth was my first NWOTHM band, then Iron Griffin and Chevalier from Blayne's massive brain and going into the rabbit hole as of now. Very newbie but gomna checl that Eternal Champion album.

With the saturation of digitally perfected music lately, that slightly out of tune string in the opening riff of the 3rd clip was a breath of fresh air.
Many great new traditional metal bands!...but picking just one it would have to be Witchtower (spain)...their self-titled and Hammer of Witches albums are excellent...100% awsome traditional heavy metal!!!

Add Argus to that list as well. They are in my opinion the best new Traditional/Doom bands around. All 4 of their albums have been amazing.

The best modern trad/speed metal bands for me are Traveler, Riot City (who share members, and are are on the same Greek label) as well as Vulture.
