The first time I went to the shoreline and I heard the arps, it made me think about how Rainworld plays on all of the most common fears, and I feel like Shoreline(Arps) is he best example of that. It's the fear of open water as a Slugcat who is most comfortable in small spaces like the hibernation shelter. Shaded Citadel plays on the fear of the dark and arachnophobia. Sky Islands, Chimney Canopy, and the Underhang plays on fear of heights. Five Pebbles plays on the fear of space and floating away into nothingness/empty space. Filtration System plays on claustrophobia.
i think it's also fun to think that outskirts plays on the fear of the unknown. it's the first area you reach when first starting out, and you probably don't know much about the game at that point.
8:12 is essentially just the definitive theme for this area given that... well. If it aint a lizard, it's a bird. And if it ain't a bird, its a giant fish.

I've learned to associate those arps with water and leviathans specifically, you know you're screwed when you're in the middle of the ocean with no land in sight and you hear that.
@azrolxneo blink and a vulture is rocketing up into the sky with your dangling bloody mess of a corpse just for a levitation to dash out the water and swallow the vulture
Sometimes when danger is present you hear just the bass instead of the kick, this is often the case in the vertical room with the two monster kelps before the Shaded Citadel Karma Gate.

that one time i was playing as gourmand but j forgot to turn lizard customizer off and arps started to play and i turned around and saw what i thought was a leviathan tail coming out of the water but it was actually my extended eelzard piss worm purposed organism that was probably even longer than a leviathan
I’ve associated the arps with jet fish because for some reason it always plays when I speed with one through the pipe system and am dashing too quickly to get snagged by anything

drainage isn't needed!!! unless you wanna explore everything and unlock some stuff you can leave drainage and never come back!!! there are a few different entrances to sub too so you can beat the game without going through it!

You can outswim the leviathans with the proper swimming technique, no KING VULTURES near the end of Hunter's run in open water are a nightmare
