    1) 60 atoms
    2) a. Tetravalent ( valency is 4 )
    b. Catenation ( self bonding )
    3) In Diamond one carbon atom combines with four other carbon atoms so all the four atoms involve in bonding but in graphite one carbon atom is attached with three carbon atoms that's why one electron remains free and because of the presence of that free electron the graphite is able to conduct electricity.
How Beautifully He Explained The Topic !!✨
    Keep going :)

    1. 60 carbon atoms will be present as 12 in pentagon pairs and 20 in hexagon pairs.
    2.catinaton and travalent property .
3.As in diamond 1 carbon atom is connected with other 4 c atopm so there are no free electrons to conduct electricity but in graphite 1 carbon carbon atom is connected to other 3 c atom so there is 1 free atom in very mokecules hence conduct electricity.

    1. One molecule Buckminsterfullerene has 60 carbon atoms.
    2. The two properties of carbon that gives rise to millions of carbon compounds are:
Catenation - The property to form long Chains. (Due to its small shell count)
Tetravalency - The Phenomenon to form 4 covalent bond with other atoms.
    3. Graphite has 1 free valence electron whereas Diamond doesn't Due to its Structure of the Molecule. Thus the free electron contributes to the ability to conduct the electricity.

    Answers:
    1. 60 Carbon atoms
    2. Carbon is tetravalent and has the ability to form covalent bonds with many elements. It also forms bonds with other carbon atoms and this is known as catenation.
    3. Graphite is a good conductor of electricity because in the graphite molecule, 1 atom of Carbon is linked to 3 others; and with Carbon's valency being 3, 1 atom is left. Due to this, lot of free electrons are present and thus, graphite is a better conductor of electricity than diamond.

    1. - 60 carbon atoms in one molecule of buckministerfullerene
    2. - Catenation (Linking of carbon atoms and forming long chains)
    - Forming Covalent Bond (Sharing electrons)
    3. - In diamond all 4 carbon atoms are shared in covalent bonds so there are no free electrons making it a bad conductor of electricity.
While, In graphite 3 carbons atoms bonded to other 3 carbon atoms leaving 1 free electrons making it a good conductor of electricity.
Hope these answers are correct and I had doubts in this part of the lesson now i am very much clear. Thank you for the clear explanation sir.

    1. 60 carbon atoms
    2. Catenation= ability to make bonds with other elements
tetravalency = carbon has electronic configuration of ( 2,4 ) Hence 4 valence atoms, Therefore it can neither lose nor gain electrons to be stable, this results in carbon making covalent bonds and share electrons instead of losing or gaining
    3. graphite is a good conductor of electricity coz it has 1 free electron while diamond has all 4 electrons shared to another and is a bad conductor of electricity

    Very lovely explanation sir,
    1. 60 carbon atoms.
    2. Because, carbon has, catenation and tetravalent propeties.
    3. Because, graphite has a bond of three electrons so, 1 atom is always free in the whole bond, that makes it, a good conductor of electricity.....

Ans. 1:- There are 60 carbon atoms present in the one molecule of buckminsterfullerene.
Ans. 2:- The two properties of carbon that rise to give millions of carbon compounds are:--
    I) Catenation- carbon has a unique ability to combine with other carbon atoms to form long chains, this ability of carbon is knows as Catenation.
II) Tetravalency- Carbon has a valency of four, so it is capable of bonding with four other atoms of carbon or atoms of some other monovalent element. This is known as tetravalency of carbon.
Ans. 3:- Graphite is a good conductor of electricity because it has a free electron in every hexagonal structure, but diamond has no any electrons in any structure.

  • @anvijain428

    1) There are 60 Carbon atoms present in one molecule of Buckminsterfullere.(C60)
    2) Followings are the 2 properties of Carbon:
    (1) Carbon has 4 atoms in its outermost shell ( valence shell), it is difficult for Carbon to either donate 4 electrons or to gain 4 protons to become a stable atom. That's why it shares its elements, and so called Tetravalent.
    (2) It shows the property of Catenation i.e a property by which a carbon atom can bond with any other number of carbon atoms to form straight chains, branched chains and rings.
    3) In Graphite, each Carbon atom is bonded to 3 other Carbon atoms. So, 3 electrons are used in bonds here, 1 electron is free, thus in the whole structure a large number of free electrons are present which makes Graphite a good conductor of electricity.
Whereas, in Diamond, 4 electrons are used in Covalent bonds. Thus there are no free electrons. Hence, it does not conduct electricity.

    3. Graphite is a good conductor of electricity because it contains free electron where as free electrons are absent in diamond

Thank you sir for explaining this topic.
    One doubt sir
05:57 Sir, Alakh Pandey Sir(Physics Wallah) told that in covalent bond the formation of bond is weak whereas you are telling bond of carbon are very strong.
    Please explain sir🙏

Bond produced by carbon is strong since carbon is smaller in size .It can hold the shared pair of electrons strongly..

    Ans 1-C60
    Ans 2-catenation and tetravalency
Ans-3 Carbon atoms in graphite are bonded with 3 other carbon atoms whereas in diamond carbon atoms are bonded to 4 other atoms making a rigid structure and no free electrons left. Hence in graphite a large number of free electrons gives the ability to graphite to conduct electricity.
I hope i get response sir.

    1) 60 carbon atoms are present in one molecule of Buckminsterfullerene.
    2) Catenation and Tetravallency
    3) because graphite has free electrons but diamond do not have free electrons

    1- 60
    2- (catination) ( tetravalent)
3 - because it contains free electrons which helps to conduct the electricity

    Q.1 60 carbon atom
Q.2 catenation property and tetravalency of carbon atom .
Q.3 diamond contains carbon atom bonded to four other carbon atom . No free electron on its structure . And in graphide , there are carbon bonded to 3 other carbon atom hence it contains one free electron on it . It present in large number and it is sufficient to conduct electricity .
