Welcome back to the channel and to the first race preview of the 2022 IndyCar season! It's finally here and we can't wait for the season to get kicked off and see who takes the early advantage in the opening round! As always we give our general thoughts before picking star performers, podium finishers and rookie of the race predictions! Now its over to you! That first practice session was crazy our top 4 from last year no where to be found. This is what I expect indycar to be like scattered race results all over getting a top 10 in this series will be a very formidable result

My podium is Herta, Newgarden, Sato so I guess my star performer is Sato, O’Ward to finish top 10 after getting the pole, Rookie of the Race is Kirkwood

Also keep an eye on Simon Dark Horse Pagenaud (aka Simon Maverick Pagenaud now lol) P4 in Practise 1 so we'll see how the weekend goes but he seems very motivated and pumped up already for this year. Hoping him and MSR is a great combo.

After the first Daytona 500 I ever watched, and between F1 testing and Indy's preparation for St Pete , I was super excited... until the morning of the 24th came and completely killed the mood ...
Yup, with world events in Ukraine its completely understandable. A scary and terrible situation

Wow that was a very tight FP1 and qual is going to be exciting, I really dont know who will get pole much less win, but I really hope my man power gets pole and the win, but my goodness it is going to be a crap shoot picking poles and wins this year, the competition is so close and it's going to be a great year
Yeah it feels even more this year that it will be a stab in the dark predicting these things! But we love it that way!! I hope for you Chadwick that your Power hopes come true!
Spot on analysis, Newgarden was on the back foot from day one. His season had two defining moments IMO, Barber, and then Elkhart Lake Just when it looked like everything was about to click, Road America just gutted the back half of his season
Podium prediction: Power Newgarden, Rahal. Grosjean will be the star of the race, but like Wickens in 2018, will make an unforced error, putting him out of contention Last year had a great deal of unexpected results. This year will be back to a more "normal" season, with Penske, and Andretti rebounding. Palou will suffer the championship hangover as Ganassi has an inconsistent year, with Dixon retiring at season's end.
Best of luck to all participants. If there is one thing I've learned, it's that the bottom can fall out in a hurry. Kevin Cogan, Roberto Guerrero, even Bobby Rahal. Things happen and a career may not recover. Those three drivers, among many others, I would point to singular moments and it was downhill from there..

@@aquaspire7671 You are correct, that was Rossi's fault. My point was more that something strange will put him out of contention, but I did a horrible job of articulating that.
Great thoughts as always Scott and glad you approved of the Josef observation! Really could have a Penske vs Andretti season and easily could have a Newgarden or Herta storm off with it too!

Hey guys! Great to be back! Looking forward to a great season kickoff on Sunday. Practice was crazy with Newgarden and Pato MIA. I’m going with Herta for the pole and the win. Grosjean and Pagenaud on the podium. Star performer will be Rahal and Psycho Will drops an F bomb on the network.
Sounds like Will 😂 pretty fun first podium that of the season of it comes true! And damn right it's good to be back!
This old geezer predicts Colton for the pole and win. (Geezer Credentials: My first in person Indy 500 was sixty years ago this May....150 mph barrier broken and last race with an all-American field.)

Three Andretti drivers in the top ten--two of those in the top three in fp1. It might be Grosjean and Herta dueling the rest of the weekend.

I definitely do think there was still a bit of sandbagging going on from the likes of McLaren & Chip Ganassi. Newgarden struggling isn’t ideal as a Josef fan but I expect him to bounce back in FP2 as he’s great in St Pete.
I expect Power & Pagenaud to replicate their FP1 form in the race with how much Power has been training in the off-season plus he’s the street course master. Pagenaud loves the place too and he’s got those Andretti dampers so I think he’ll be strong. Pink Penske will be ones to watch all year.
Podium prediction is Chungus Herta, Newgarden & Pagenaud.
Grosjean will show both sides of himself during the weekend. Amazing pace with a top 5 in Qualy and great race pace but an unforced error will see him throw it away.
I’m also very much prepared for all of these predictions to flop and for me to look like an idiot 🤣

It was a good first practice hopefully Scott Dixon can get it going he doesn’t seem to go well for him in st Pete. I know who Steven is cheering for lol Patto!!!
