On "My Car Story" we're in Canada on 8-9-24.
We're looking at a 1941 Cadillac Roadster in Green and Burgundy Paint. The car comes with the 452 CI V16 engine and a 3 Speed manual transmission.
The car's Owner is Steve Plunkett. Steve’s had this car since 2001. Steve shares this was one of the first Cadillacs he thought the design was stunning, and glad he purchased it. This one looks showroom new.
ENJOY!
Hi, If you like this video, please click on SUPER THANKS ❤ with the $ in the middle which is the SUPER THANKS button under the video. Thank you! Lou
That metallic champagne gold and chocolate brown make a stunning combination... the entire car is STUNNING... I've never seen a nicer specimen... and I'm a Cadillac man.
Happy to read "the entire car is STUNNING" :-)
This car is breathtaking! Fortunately with the roadster design and the rumble seat, you will get plenty of air back while you enjoy the ride. Cadillac certainly was an innovator back then and their technical advances still endure today. What a great car and car story. Thanks, Lou!
Hi TheGunfighter45acp, Happy to read "This car is breathtaking!" :-) My pleasure sharing this car with you. You're welcome, Lou
V16! The king of all cadillacs. What a amazing piece of art! Thanks Lou!

Thanks Lou sand Steve. You got a perfect day, the birds were singing and when you started it up I can assure you something did move.
Need I say more. Incredible piece of history.
You're welcome Scuff. Happy to share this "Incredible piece of history." with you :-) Lou
How cool was that?! Usually, we just see these incredible automobiles sitting in a museum, but to see this gorgeous car in motion was kind of exciting. Thank you to Steve Plunkett for showing his amazing collection, and this beautiful V16 Cadillac Roadster in particular, and thank you to Lou for sharing this with us!
"How cool was that?!" Pretty cool :-) You're welcome Mike!
Car designers back in the day would look around and see what is on the roads today and cry😢
I think you're right.
What a beautiful car,
The grand old lady sounds so sweet,
And Steve takes care of her very well.
Hi Steve, Happy to read you enjoy the looks and sounds from this car :-) My pleasure sharing this car with you, Lou
Absolutely gorgeous. The V-16 Cadillacs were definitely the pinnacle of U.S. automotive history.
High praise.
@loucostabile There's a dark red one in the GM Heritage Collection (chauffeur driven) that was given to the collection by a local woman. That's where I fell in love with the 1930 V-16 Cadillac.
By far, it was the most beautiful car in the cars displayed and became my favorite Cadillac.
I'm stunned that someone has 2 of them and actually drives them.
I've watched your video several times and really enjoyed it. Many thanks!
BTW: my runner-up is the glorious 59 Biarritz convertible👍
The roar/ sound of the engine is unbelievable is breathtaking
Happy to read you enjoy the sounds from this car :-)
Steve's Cadillac Collection is world class...as is this car. Thanks, Lou.
Hi CJ Design, Happy to share this "world class" collection with you. You're welcome, Lou
Well-earned title, "Standard of the World."
:-)
What a beautiful piece of art! Thanks Lou!

Happy to share this "Very very elegant" car with you :-)
Automotive jewelry at its very finest…breathtaking
High praise.
Real magnificent automobile. From a time that real masterpieces were designed and built. I love this era of the automobile. Thank you for sharing.
High praise. You're welcome Kevin.
What a classy ride. Beautiful Cadillac. Steve you have an amazing car collection and nice property. Thanks Lou!
Happy to share this "classy ride" with you :-) You're welcome John!
Automotive royalty! That interior looks more comfortable than any home I’ve been in !
Hi Don, "Automotive royalty!" I agree :-) Lou
Cadillacs were such trendsetters you pointing out the lights right above the bumper turning with the steering wheel that proceeded Tucker‘s idea which is I understood it. He never did get that to function properly on his card and the fact that you had five settings for the suspension I found that fascinating, the controls on the steering wheel for different functions. That was a trendsetter too really amazing. I have to say that would be one for my bucket list to be able to go for a ride in one of those cars. The low in torque would have to be amazing thanks for a great Carl as usual. God bless you.❤🙏
Hi James, Happy to read you enjoy this "trendsetter" :-) My pleasure sharing with car with you. Blessings received. God bless you too, Lou
Beautiful car, my dad and I restored a 1931 Chevrolet SE 5 window coupe with rumble seat in the 70s. He belong to the VCCA. It was the first place a
Award winner in its day. My brother still has it.
Hi Steve, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Glad to read your Brother still has your Dads 1931 Chevrolet.
The 1932 Chevy was advertised as having the Cadillac look with it's little doors on the hood.
In the 1960's Dad bought Mum a car for her to drive around,a 1932 Confederate coupe with 7,000 miles on it. In the 70's it was taking up room in Dads factory so it was sold and today the present owner tells me it still only has 14,000 miles..!. I love the looks of the Chevys right up to 1938.
Stunning automobile! This was when Cadillac was establishing their reputation as "the standard of the world," and it was well-deserved. That engine is amazing but there is so much more to appreciate. I love the huge headlamps, the turned metal dashboard and the little chrome details that just scream luxury and elegance. The V16 emblems are gorgeous. So many like to focus on the big finned monsters of the late 50s, and they are great cars that spoke to that era, but the cars of the late 20s and 30s solidified their reputation as among the very best, if not THE best, in the world. Another great job and thanks, Lou!
Hi Charles, "Stunning automobile!" High praise. Glad to read "That engine is amazing but there is so much more to appreciate." My pleasure sharing this car with you. You're welcome, Lou
I'm Canadian too. We love our cars like our American brothers and sisters. Wow what a beauty!!! Good stuff Lou. I hope we treat you well.up here.
Hi Quincee 33, The treatment in Canada is GREAT! Happy to share this "beauty!!!" with you, Lou
What an absolute beautiful car and even more reliable than many cars today. Thanks for this great video.
High praise. You're welcome.
The most glamorous years of American cars! This one is stunning and I’ve been anticipating Mr Plunkett again with the individual videos! Jeez listen to that purring engine it sounds like a Tiger
Happy to read "This one is stunning" :-) Glad to read you enjoy the sounds of this car.
What a nice looking Cadillac Roaster, I bet it run so smooth. The engine V16 is known to be powerful and last longer than V8.
Happy to read you enjoy the looks and the smooth ride with this car :-)
Thanks Lou cadillac was truly the standard of the world. Beautiful vehicle.
You're welcome Thomas. My pleasure sharing this car with you :-)
Lou, Lou; You've clearly knocked it out of the park once again! WOW, a homerun for sure. When I see what Detroit was capable of,it makes me wonder what happened to the US auto industry. Can you imagine if Cadillac made a V16 today what it'd be capable of? The V16 is very smooth and torquey and the sound of it reminds me of a beautiful inline six cylinder. This one of the world's Best cars ever. Actually this is one of my dream cars. Have a great God blessed day.
Paul, Paul, This one is WAY BACK.....a HOME RUN! Happy to read this is a "Dream car" for you. Blessing received. God bless you too, Lou
Absolutely stunning. Thanks for the virtual tour and ride. A spectacular era of automobile design and manufacturing, cut short by the Great Depression. No wonder Cadillac was, for decades, referred to as the Standard of the World. I always wonder whether or not any antique automobile museum exists that allows you to pay for a ticket to ride in an antique automobile, much like the museums that maintain and operate steam locomotives. Wouldn’t that be awesome!
Hi TG, Happy to read "Absolutely stunning" :-) Riding in them is sure fun. Glad to share the ride with you, Lou
Seeing Steve start the Cadillac was fantastic.
Happy to read what you enjoy seeing :-)
Breath taking indeed. Line and length, bliss on wheels.
Happy to read "Breath taking indeed" :-)
AMAZING style and quality......my Uncle, Gord James told me about this car. Thanks Lou and thanks Steve (for everything).
Hi Mike, Happy to read your Uncle Gord knew about this car :-) You're welcome, Lou
Absolutely beautiful gorgeous classic American luxury sports roadster, designed by none other than Harley Earl. One of my favorite classic cars of all time! Equal to the early 1930s Duesenbergs, Packards, and Chrysler Imperials. An amazing V16 engine, like an aircraft engine, eight cylinders on each side! Thank you Lou and the owner for sharing this beauty!
Hi Donald, High praise. My pleasure sharing this car with you, Lou
Congratulations Lou. Purely iconic. Million $ car. Oooof.
Hi Audie, Happy to share this "Purely iconic" car with you :-) Lou
There are NO WORDS that can do this car justice! STUNNING! Lou, you have outdone yourself again. Primo!
Hi ultraviolet tp, High praise.
Heaven! Keep the Caddies coming. This is truly the best the world had to offer. Move aside, Rolls Royce & Lincoln.
AMEN! Good news! If you type into TH-cam search "My Car Story with Lou Cadillac" you can see MANY you'll enjoy. ALSO....there will be more Cadillacs come too, Lou
Hi, Lou! So...your first V-16 ride! The saying goes, "Oh, the places you'll go!" In your case it's "Oh, the cars you'll ride in!" BTW, the horsepower was 165, which was actually a pretty big deal back in 1930. Synchromesh, automatic choke, steering wheel controls...as Steve said, quite a technological marvel for the day. And oh boy, a golf club compartment! How cool is THAT! (Just don't park too close to the range! LOL!)
Many, thanks, Lou and Steve, for this fun ride in a near-century-old low-off!
Hi iswc27, Truly fun to share the V16 ride with you :-) Thank you for sharing your knowledge. You're welcome, Lou
Now, that's a Cadillac!! Opulent cars of their day!
:-)
Thank you, Lou. Beautiful stunning vintage classic, drop-dead gorgeous.
High praise. You're welcome Michael C.
This is reàlly what I like to see in the videos I watch online! Rare cars in fresh off the assembly line condition that I may not see anywhere else short of a museum. That is, if I am lucky enough to find a museum that would have one. There can't be many of these cars in existence, and Mr Plunkett owns two rare Cadillacs with a V16 engine. Thank you, Lou, for your efforts to find and video these treasures.
Hi Daniel, My pleasure sharing the "treasures" with you :-) Glad to read this is what you like. You're welcome, Lou
Wow! This is great first car to feature from Steve's collection. Thanks Lou and Steve!!
Hi danam0228, Happy to receive a "Wow!" from you :-) You're welcome. Good news! Here are the two others from his collection on the Channel. 1) 1956X Buick th-cam.com/video/bgycJ5xd5Hk/w-d-xo.html & 2) 1953 Cadillac Eldorado th-cam.com/video/IjVmHjYzbdQ/w-d-xo.html
Class, class, class and more class. Thank you and the owner of this automotive jewel for sharing this experience with us.
Hi Charles, Happy to read you enjoy this "Classy" car :-) You're welcome, Lou
I lived in Long Beach Ca 50 years back in Belmont Shore. My neighbor across the street had a friend who actually owned one of these cars. It was yellow or something like it. He drove it over a few times to visit. I remember that golf club compartment. The owner bought the car back in the 50s from the long beach airport where he said it was used to drag the runway with a log! He had spent many years restoring it. I heard later that it somehow was stolen and allegedly shipped overseas. Nice to see another a half century later.
Hi Steve, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your neighbor in Long Beach CA's car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing. Hope you see many cars on this Channel you enjoy! Please Subscribe, and hit the "bell" so you can see all the cars when they are uploaded on this TH-cam Channel, Lou
That gorgeous transmition sound. I could listen to that all day long.

Hi Juan, Happy to read you enjoy this beauty :-) glad to read this car brings back memories of other members of your family's cars too. Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
This Cadillac is beautiful a real piece of craftsman ship Thanks Lou God Bless.
Hi Leroy, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) You're welcome. Blessings received. God bless you too, Lou
That's a very stunning automobile Lou. Thanks for showing it. My Dutch Australian friend in Brisbane Australia also has a 1928 V8 Cadillac Roadster that he has taken well over ten years of full chassis up restoration to finally get it to look very similar to the one shown here. I am looking forward to going to visit him someday soon to finally go for a drive in it and I will film it for my TH-cam channel Train Lord where I already have some original footage of when he purchased it. He also has an amazing 1925 Crossley which I filmed also. Thanks again
Hi Train Lord, Happy to read you friend has a cool 1928 V8 Cadillac Roadster :-) NICE! Keep up the good work filming the fun cars. You're welcome, Lou
I knew a guy who had a ‘34 Phaeton, unrestored. Belonged to a DuPont heiress. He finally was convinced to part with it and it underwent a million dollar restoration by the next owner.
Hi Seed_drill, Wow, that sounds like a great car.
@@loucostabile When my uncle's friend had it it was featured in the AACA magazine, which is how its future owner found out about it. Part of the consideration included a V-16 sedan in trade!
What a beautiful car. A dream.
High praise.
This car was designed by Harley Earl, who was one of the American automotive design geniuses of the 20th century. I believe that Al Capone owned of one of these cars. You can't really be a student of American automotive history without learning about these legendary Cadillacs.
Hi Randy, Thanks for viewing and sharing your knowledge, Lou
Beautiful amazing car!! It would be a "Dream every single day owning a masterpiece like this!! I'd have to CONSTANTLY PINCH MYSELF!" 😂😂😂😂
Hi Donald, High praise. Lou

This is one beautiful car didn't know they made a Cadillac in 1930s or even a roadster back then it seems like it's a very smooth car an easy Drive it has some nice features😊😊
Happy to read you enjoy the looks and ride of this car :-)
Cool design feature in hiding the plug wires. Makes for a clean, uncluttered appearance.
I agree. I was not expecting that.
A fire breathing dragon indeed! 🐲🐉🔥🔥 Thanks for sharing, Lou, and enjoy the week ahead.
Hi AMCmachine, You're welcome. Wishing you a good weekend too, Lou
Beautiful car, incredibly classy and luxurious , powerful to ,V 16 wow 🤩! The cutting edge of technology.
High praise.
STATELY: Defined as "having a dignified, unhurried, and grand manner; majestic in manner and appearance." This V-16 should have its picture in the dictionary next to that very word. In addition to the stunning body style and impressive 16-cylinder 452-cid powerplant, the brown and gold color combo is pure class. One of the very best of its era.
"STATELY: Defined as "having a dignified, unhurried, and grand manner; majestic in manner and appearance." This V-16 should have its picture in the dictionary next to that very word." NICE!
Another beautiful Cadillac from Steve 😍😍😍😍😍 Thanks Lou!
Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this Cadillac :-) You're welcome motorTranz!
Hi Lou, what a great looking Cadillac, it is a great show piece, but today it would be rather expensive to run, but a super car.
Hi Philip, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this "great show piece" :-) Lou

Wow that is a very beautiful car
High praise.
Bruce Buffer, Cadillac beat you to the Punch (Pun intended.) "Let's get ready to rumble."
NICE!
Gorgeous, magnificent motor car.
But now, I am craving a hot fudge sundae!
Hi Daniel, Happy to read you enjoy this "Gorgeous, magnificent motor car." :-) Enjoy that sundae! Lou
A magnificent car, as others have said, although I'm not sure it is clearly superior to a Deusenberg or Packard of similar vintage, not to mention Rolls Royce, Delahaye, Hispano Suiza, Mercedes-Benz, etc. All were pretty impressive and designed during the booming late-'20s economy. By the time this was delivered, it was practically sinful to show it in public. Would like to see a side-by-side comparison of this and a couple of its contemporaries. Keep up the good work, Lou!
Hi Christopher, High praise. A comparison video would be fun :-) I like that idea. Challenge is finding all the cars in the same place. Appreciate the kind words on the "work", Lou
Absolutely fantastic. WOW!
High praise.
Wow that car is a work of art
High praise.
Pretty cool . That godess could have done with a visit to the barber , reminds me of Crystal Gayle.
Nice :-)
Magnificent. So sad that Caddy went from this to the non top tier luxury brand it is today.
Happy to read "Magnificent." :-)
What a car, Lou!! Great video and story! Cheers!👍😁🛠️🔧
Hi Billy, Happy to read you enjoy this car :-) Cheers, Lou
That is soopercadilifically expialidocious. Possibly the opposite of something more or less atrocious. What a great video, thanks for this showing and demonstration.
Hi gnewb underscore, High praise. You're welcome, Lou
The extreme attention to detail on this car is like Cadillac was building a watch. I suppose it is a time machine to 1930.
"I suppose it is a time machine to 1930" When you're riding on that 2 lane road....I think you're right.
A beautiful car.
Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-)
Wow! I can't decide which is more beautiful between this or a high grade '33 Goudey Babe Ruth card!
Too hard to decide, best to have one of each :-)
That´s on of the pinnacle of all Time.........Grace, Attitude, Style, Luxury no artificial Materials........put on your Double breasted Suit, wear your Fedora and let´s Start------------------
High praise.
Absolutely incredible and opulent machine. 😎👍🎩🏆🇺🇸
Never realized they made them that long. How did it survive??
If only this car could talk. Thanks for sharing.
Hmmm, my car story with Lou....and the CAR TALKS! THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!
This is special.
:-)
Oodles of style!
NICE!
WOW that's one amazing beast of a machine it's unbelievable the simple technology back then in vehicles (Headlights turn with wheels) or was it modified
Happy to receive a "WOW that's one amazing beast" from you :-) Yes the lights turn with the steering on the front, and I'm not aware of this being modified.

Well done on being my Public Relations person Chris :-)
Lou, I love your videos and that you have now come up to Canada. Many of the cars that you feature are begging to have their horns blown. Maybe you can incorporate that into the drive-by at the end? Thank you from Lethbridge Alberta.
Hi luvs70s2, Happy to read "I love your videos" :-) Had a GREAT time in Canada. Sometimes I remember to blow the horns and sometimes I forget. Stay tuned, and I hope you hear more horns you enjoy, Lou
That’s a nice ride
Happy to read you enjoy this ride :-)
It's me where we hear the speeds cracking several times when the owner restarts at intersections !?
I know that these are old mechanics but normally, given the state of preservation and impeccable maintenance at this sublime Cadillac V16, I am surprised to hear these squear sounds of Gearbox that makes my hair stand.
Hi Saï, Thank you for viewing and sharing what you heard. Hope you see many more cars on this TH-cam Channel you enjoy. Please subscribe, and hit the "bell" so you can see all the cars when they are uploaded on this TH-cam Channel, Lou
Cadillac style!
Nice :-)
That's not an automatic choke that is a Manual choke. That gives the operator 100% control of the choke. Before that, they had Primers ect Primer cups . Enricheners. .
Thank you for sharing.
@@loucostabile I figured out the advantage of small bore Cylinders. Back then gasoline was very low octane. A smaller combustion area allowed higher compression ratios with out detonation.
Actually it does have automatic chokes. One per carb. You start it with the manual choke, when running, I then slowly push in that choke & the automatics take over.
@ 14:25 "They were low offs, for sure"??? Wondering what he meant there. Wow 1930 Cadillac - first year of the Great Depression (thanks, bankers!! :-( ) - only the wealthy had much of anything in those days. Both of my parents lived through it.
Hi UCan CallMeRay, "They were low offs" means of the 54 different Cadillac bodies, not many Cadillacs were built in 1930. Glad to read you're Parents made it through.
Nice 😊
Hi Michael, Happy to read this one is "Nice" :-)
The kind of car one gets when one can’t afford a Dusenberg.
......yep, just gunna have to settle with this one :-)
Well, it is cheaper, yes, but the Dues. is noisier and has more vibrations. The Cadillac was for another clientele.
I saw that in the Imperial Palace!..
Hi Terry, Happy to read this car brings back memories of when you saw this car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing. Hope you see many cars on this Channel you enjoy! Please Subscribe, and hit the "bell" so you can see all the cars when they are uploaded on this TH-cam Channel, Lou

Hi Enrique, Happy to read you enjoy this car :-) Lou
Sharp design and nice rider. . . :>/
Happy to read you enjoy the design and ride of this car :-)
As a teenager, I made a parts delivery to an old mechanic's shop where they had the heads off one of these engines in a huge sedan. Long slender block with two rows of Briggs and Stratton lawnmower sized pistons/cyl. bores. Hey Lou, what was the vintage radial engine powered airplane that flew over early in this video?
Hi Dave F., Happy to read this car brings back memories of the mechanic shop where you remember an engine like this being repaired :-) Hmmm, not sure what time of airplane that is. Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
All V16 Cadillacs were Fleetwood bodies and interior.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
how to shift gears on that 1930 cadillac
Accurately :-)
Woow!
:-)
A great car, but who was the previous owner? I seem to recall seeing a colour photograph of “Clark Gable” standing next to a car like this. It was a 1932 Packard, but this particular car could’ve been once owned by a Hollywood movie star too!
Hi Fred, I'm not sure who previously owned this car. Lou
do you ever put the top down?
Hmmm, not sure, and I did not ask.
